I think they're going the recast route for Steven, maybe as yet another "tribute" to the original show.
I can't imagine they would let Cristal AND Steven as characters go after only one season...

Let go? That's interesting. I wonder... Did the actor:

a) do or say something he shouldn't have (or get into trouble with someone), or
b) they're trying to reboot the show for season 2 to get higher ratings and some focus groups told them they didn't like him, or
c) were they going to recast anyway as yet another fun tribute to the original?

Either way, it's an interesting development given the fact Al Corley was let go as well (and wanted to leave, too).

If true (and I do this with a roll of the eyes) it's a major risk letting another character/actor go so early in the reboot. It's like the producers/writers are going out of their way to destroy their own creation. As Alexis so eloquently points out, this "f**king mess" will be their doing and nobody else's.

This makes me wonder about how things are going to go with Melissa being pregnant with Steven's baby. Here's some random ideas that don't have much - or any - reason to them:


-Blake gets together with Melissa so he can raise Steven's child, but Sammy Jo, teamed up with Alexis, sues for shared custody.

-Melissa tries to get with Sammy Jo so they can raise the kid together.

-Blake and Sammy Jo pair up so they can raise Steven's baby together.

(Hey, I said these ideas don't have any reason to them. )

I've enjoyed it and especially the last half of the season. I'll give it a go. Sometimes you just have to buckle up your seatbelts and get ready for the ride - plus, this is a reboot, it's not like they're killing off anyone from the original show.

Well, @RebelHeart you did reveal that something was up re: Nathalie Kelley and Cristal before the season 1 finale aired, so, I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that something is happening re: James MacKay and Steven. Now, what the final outcomes will be concerning the fates of Cristal and Steven remain to be seen, but I have the feeling you know something/more than you are revealing about what is happening with the production of the show.

So, according to your words above, Steven will be a part of the beginning of Season 2, an episode or two at least? I bet Steven is badly burned in the fire and is sent off for treatment. They can either bring James MacKay back later on, or recast if they want, ala what they did on the original show regarding the actors who portrayed Steven.


An aside, Robert C. Riley/Michael Culhane seems to be back on the Dynasty set, according to his Instagram posts the last couple of days....

Just throwing this out there since we are talking about James MacKay possibly leaving Dynasty (or taking a hiatus, or something)....

Both Rafael De La Fuente and James MacKay posted separate photos on their instagram pages yesterday showing each of them holding the same dog. What is interesting is that in the background of Rafael's photo, there appears to be a production trailer, leading me to believe that these photos were taken on the Dynasty set. This just me surmising, because really we have no context to the photos, or know when the photos were actually taken, and neither James or Rafael state where they are or what they are doing at the time of their respective photos, but it appears as tho James is on the Dynasty set in some capacity.

But if Steven's burned beyond recognition then they won't need the original actor anymore. Will Dynasty continue with two comatose mummies?

It's all very strange that a network would allow or even encourage these kind of spoilers, it doesn't feel good to be honest.
However, if James Mackay is actively auditioning for other roles then it can't be a secret anymore ("last job?"'. Dynasty. "Hm, I see")
I don't know if the CW (or any other network) would pay their actors to remain inactive until the new episodes start to air. But then, is it humanly possible to not post everything on twitter and instagram?

This could be an unexpected turn of events, and if it's too costly or even impossible to re-shoot Steven's scenes then he'll still appear in the fire aftermath scene/episode.
