Dallas Actors Patrick Duffy moved to tears by BBG's acting in this Dallas scene...

In this 1-hour long interview that took place at Series Mania Festival in Lille, France at the beginning of May, Patrick Duffy talks about the important stages of his career which were, of course Man from Atlantis and his role of Bobby in Dallas.
About 20 minutes into the interview the audience is watching this scene where Bobby tells Jock and Miss Ellie that he's leaving Southfork and after watching it Patrick's visibly moved and his voice breaks when he talks about Barbara Bel Geddes. This was a really interesting moment for me because though I know that the cast were very close to each other honestly, I've never seen Patrick cry in public in terms of giving an interview.
What is your opinion about this?

Thank you for posting this - it was great and also have never seen Pat D get emotional but maybe its due to fact his wife died last year.

I always said BBG was the class act of the cast and didn't need a script or words to act or convey emotion and you can tell she was from a theatre background

I think it looks good on him - and it also works as a natural "facelift".

I listened to the whole interview today as i woke up at 4.30am!
I really enjoyed it and its different.

Over the years Larry, Linda and Patrick have always been a bit guilty of telling the same old stories over and over again so it gets a bit boring / same-ey and nothing new
However in this interview Ive heard Patrick talk about things like Man from Atlantis / casting etc that i hadnt heard before and it was refreshing

a good hours worth of anecdotes AND the WHY story!

Recommend it!

Nice interview. Patrick was mistaken, though, about Dallas having a continuing storyline from the very beginning. That wasn’t until Sue Ellen became pregnant. Dallas’ first few episodes did indeed have closure.

For some reason it looks better to me in the video than in the photos I'd seen previously. Interestingly, he looks more 'Irish' to me with this look than before.

Thank you so much for sharing @Tina Ewing . I enjoyed watching this a lot. Patrick is really funny the way he tells the stories so I found myself laughing a couple of times at things that he said.
Also he discussed some things that I haven't heard him talk about before. Like for instance the fake Step by Step opening theme.
Watching that as a teenager I always wanted to go on that roller coaster as it looked like great fun. Haha, I totally bought into the illusion of that they were on a roller coaster. Although I could never quite figure out where it was located.

It was also nice to hear him talk about Dallas and how much fun he had working with Victoria Principal, Larry and Linda. He had some nice things to say about all of them.

Then as for your observation, I haven't seem him getting that emotional before either in a public appearance.

Also I guess he settled the discussion we had on this board a while ago, whether Bobby's dying scene was done in a way so you could think he talked to Pam or Jenna. Apparently that was done on purpose.

Oh and Bobby was apparently a senator for the democratic party.

Oh and kudos to the French guy who interviewed him for speaking English. I appreciate that.

Well I think what he said was that Dallas changed the way the stories on TV were told since before Dallas it was always the mystery of the week self-contained kind of episodes. It always ended with the characters having a drink after the plot was finished. Dallas episodes didn't have that resolution. It left things open-ended so the audience could wonder what would happen next to the characters and want to tune in next week as well.

What was odd however was that next week's episode would give you no resolution to what you wanted to see at first. So it wasn't until after Sue Ellen got pregnant that the show became more of a series. But even before then it stood out from the regular tv formula of the time.
