If you had the power ....

* I wouldn´t have switch the timeslot (S9)
* the aftermath would have had more dead bodies, blood and really hurted people (S6)
* would have bring Sable and David Paulsen one year earlier to Denver (S8)
* a 10th season under Paulsen´s controll instead of the Reunion
* wouldn´t have fired Oxenberg and hadn´t made everybody nice (S 7.2)

1. Wouldn't fire Oxenberg.
2. Would have re-written Kirby so she'd be more interesting, and have her be a recurring nuisance for Adam and Dana
3. Have Krystle be the one who runs for governor in S8
4. Change Krystle's hair style in S7
5. Bring in Paulsen for S7 instead of S8

- Krystle running for governor is a great idea - it would have given her a lot to do. She would have became the important person instead of Blake and could have battled with Alexis on dinner partys, tv studios and in a snowy hotel ...
- Dynasty had the best material when S7 started -if Paulsen would have take over OMG this season could have been the show´s creative peak and ratings could have been in the top 10 if not top 5 again ...

LOL! You have the power to enhance Dynasty, and that's your priority?

Mine would be:
- say "yes!" to the drugs, it could have made PDV's storyline so much more interesting
-a different reason for the Sable/Alexis vendetta in season 9
-Dominique as a one-season guest star with a powerful storyline
-better use of scenery, outdoors scenes etc.
-Leslie as a scheming super-bitch

- PDV? What´s that?

:confuse:

@Toni Not Peter de Vilbis???

I think the actor should have been extremely charming and good-looking (which Mr. Berger was not, IMO). The way things were done remind me of the godawful Charles Scott in "Knots Landing", another half-baked storyline with a drug-user playboy that only started to somehow work the moment Mr. York exited the scene.

Having PMS´s Fallon fall for such a sleazy bag like PDV was a big mistake. I did buy her flirting with Cecil, and having an affair with Michael, Mark and Nick Toscanni. All those had things in common and I did see why she was attracted to them. In Peter´s case, I only understood it if I assumed that Fallon had become blind, dumb, and deaf (that accent!). Oh and also "anosmic" (I had to google this...), because I´m sure that the guy also smelled quite putrid. And I have nothing against the actor, who gave good performances in his first decade of his career...

I agree that "say yes to drugs" might have been a good idea for a character like Fallon, who was using drugs very early in Season 1. It would have been totally in character and even the existence of Mr. Da Vulva would have made more sense...I would have kept her heartbreak with him but given her drug use the reason for the Mirage accident, no matter how clichéd and overused it was even at the time (Olivia Cunningham comes to mind).

After being able to walk again, I would have given her old spark back and get her involved with her daddy's business, clashing with Jeff and also falling for him again. In essence, it would have led to the same cliffhanger finale, just polishing a few things and making Mr. Berger´s presence a lot shorter (if a recast with a hot hunky European guy wasn´t possible, of course...). Just my 2 cents...

Who the hell knows.
1. Keep Cecil (removing the cartoon Logan Rhinewood silliness); keep him as a business rival of Blake's who realistically plays an intelligent game of chess with Blake over the entire series.
2. Allow Alexis to develop as a sideline schemer - and allow her amoral/asocial character to surface more frequently. Let her be a real wild card, trustworthy to no one including Cecil.
3. Make the Dominique story result in serious vendettas against all three major players - Blake, Alexis and Krystle. Never incorporate Dominique into the inner trusted core of the family - instead, shed be a strategic partner for some plots but a rival/barrier in others. She should be allowed to always hold some grudges against the other character's refusal to accept her presence as an equal player or family member.
4. Allow Blake to outwardly state the real reason he didn't accept Dominique as his sister: her race. Allow Blake's bias against Dominique to explicitly surface and be a plot point driving conflict between him, Steven and Fallon. Adam could easily have been painted as jealous of yet another claimant to the family fortune and easily un/consciously racist as well. (It truly drove many of us crazy watching Dominique's entrance into the series when the obvious issue of racism was never mentioned or made clear, when it absolutely would have been named in real life.)
5. Keep Sable. Never, ever sideline Sable. Make her be the even wilder wild card than her sister - selfish, a twinge of morality and inner conflict, but also capable of truly hateful deeds driven out of sibling rivalry.

Gee, I wish I had a time machine right now. ;)

@Toni If TD could have channelled his Heathcliff of the previous decade into Peter McHottie, then I don't think Fallon would have fallen for Jeff again. The showrunners would have been mad to have allowed her to, imo.

I never got the impression that Sable was sidelined. Unless you mean that she'd become the star of season 10?

If the gubernatorial election had ended a little earlier then Blake could have focused on the custody trial.
It defies belief that the mighty Carrington patriarch would allow those little, ordinary Atkinson-nobodies to walk away with his precious Carrington heir.
That child belongs to his dynasty, and how little ordinary Karen Atkinson feels about the situation is completely irrelevant - although it could still affect Adam and Dana's marriage.

Or why didn't Alexis put some muscle into it, being one of the most powerful people on the planet and all that.
She could have teased Blake with the fact that he did nothing, Adam's son was her grandson only - "that's right Blake, I'm starting my own dynasty, and you and your blonde secretary are not part of it!"

2017 I think (unless it is 2016)
I see so many possibilities in what people are proposing. I guess the whole premise revolves around how far back you would want to fix the show. So, I would go back to seasons 2 and 3 and fix the following:

1. Steven gets together with Sammy Jo after Claudia rejects him; he tries to make it work but ends up having an affair with a man, only to find out the man has been paid by Alexis, who hates the idea of a Krystle connection. Also, no racing cars.
2. The secret of Fallon's parenthood is not overheard by Sammy Jo (a waste) but by Cecil as Alexis and Steven talk in the studio. He uses it to demand that she marry him, even while Blake and Alexis get closer.
3. @rayray suggestions: "Keep Cecil (removing the cartoon Logan Rhinewood silliness); keep him as a business rival of Blake's who realistically plays an intelligent game of chess with Blake over the entire series." That also eliminates the silliness of empress Alexis, and he can take Adam under his wing as revenge against Blake "stealing" Jeff
4. @Willie Oleson's suggestion: better use of scenery, outdoors scenes etc. Also, show the seasons Colorado realistically has
5. Utilize Mark and Kirby better; make Krystle really be torn between Blake and Mark. Have Kirby be more of a gold-digger/social climber that goes after Jeff for the prestige and money and for her childhood fantasies to come true but be sexually attracted to Adam.

Of course later seasons are really derailed, but I think keeping these seasons completely on track could help the later seasons not go off the rails as they did.
And oh yeah, for future seasons: force Esther to either pay attention to the show or hire someone as a show-runner who does not believe in surprise plotting to reign in the Pollocks.

I would assume that the Carrington is the better catch but she still fantasizes about childhood hunk Jeff.
Imagine if Frankie's son would sleep with his sister-in-law:D

Yes. Yes it is. :D

Especially when her new hairstyle could have been this:

Are you now, or have you ever been, in charge of Dynasty casting for season 7--choosing Celling to replace Oxenberg just on the basis of hair? Fess up!

There are just too many plots to take on, so I'll focus on these things:

* I'd love Paulsen be brought in for S6 (when Esther originally asked him, instead of his going to KNOTS where he wasn't too happy) but I'd hate to miss his work in DALLAS' S10 (per DVD count) so he'd have to miss DYNASTY's S7, but he could return to DYNASTY for S8 thru S10 because DALLAS' S11 ('87-'88) wasn't that great.

Bring in FC's skilled-but-fired show-runner, Bob McCullough, to work on DYNASTY after Spelling hired him to develop other projects.

* No S.A.D., and tell Linda to relax as the series progresses and not squeal it up (the latter of which she was probably told to do).

*Keep the Pollocks as consultants but not show-runners.

*Use more classical, or quasi-classical, music in the scores --- more grand and rarefied compositions (a hella lot o' oboe, dammit) and less of the rambling stuff (a la Ben Lanzarone's meandering score used to good effect in late-S2 but still used in S5 when it no longer worked and hadn't in three years).

*Annual location shooting (even if it's only for a week!) at Filoli, the main thoroughfares of Denver, and Glacier National Park (which is actually in Montana, near the Canadian border) doubling as the estate. Starting with, say, Season 4.

So many other details, of course, like characters issues and story details and production design.... But there was just a certain level of majesty implied by the pilot and the series' casting and concept largely not realized.

^^ Can you find the mansion?

1: Keep Cecil around longer, he trains Alexis throughout season 3 and becomes a genuine father figure for Adam after he is rejected by Blake and Jeff goes to Blake’s side.

2: Keep the Blaisdel’s as a family until season 4,
Have Matthew be a real thorn in Blake’s side and have him team up with Cecil, Alexis would flirt with him and Cecil finds out, he decides to divorce Alexis and leave her in the lurch.

3: Have Adam & Claudia build a friendship akin to Richard and Maggie on Falcons Crest, they slowly fall in love and eventually marry, Lindsey could be utilised better as a true Gen X character in the world of the super rich.

4: Steven is bi, I don’t think there is anything wrong with this, sexuality is a spectrum and even in the 1980s it would still be groundbreaking to have had a LGBT character

5: Completely change the season 5 cliffhanger, to a whodunnit “Who Stabbed Blake/Who Killed Lady Ashley” delay the Moldavian massacre to early season 6 when the Colby’s arrive, have Paulson on board and have the Nazi treasure/Roger Grimes storyline in season 6 when the show had its best cast lis ever at that point
