but have had to start from scratch and add everything back on!!

Good to hear Barbara. When I've upgraded to a new PC it's an opportunity to ask myself, "Do I really need that on this flashy new computer. My latest computer has - of course - Windows 10 and only the software programs I tend to use, nothing else. I decided to keep everything personal off it and back this information up on 3 external drives. Why 3? 2 are portable drives and the third is a large capacity memory stick which goes everywhere with me. Call me anal but I've had to deal with far too many irate customers yelling abuse because it was my fault I didn't regularly back up their personal information.

it was all going so well until I tried to play a CD or DVD and no drivers to do it

The shop downloaded software and drivers and still wouldn't work so off it goes for repair again for 3rd time since Dec

Guess I need to get another one soon if this cant be resolved!!!

well!! Losing the will - took it back after DVD/CD not recognised, they kept it a week, said it was fixed, got it home and 2 hours later back at a well known retailer in UK as guess what No DVD/CD recognition!!!

So its away again

Im kind of hoping they don't fix it as my contract says after 3 times of same complaint, I get my ££££ back that I paid for it, and can chose new!!

Its logging me on every time with a temp profile and no files or pics in my Docs/Pics etc

Well, I have been computerless for last 9 days again, went to collect it tonight and guess what

its been rebooted so have to load everything back on but ………………………………..

there are no DVD drivers so nothing plays or inserts, wont let me install my Microsoft as its older than 2010, I don't need a new one, I don't use it that much, only for word and pics and im still on temp profile

Well, its been a while but i have my computer back and touch wood, the problem has been fixed but I wont hold me breath.

Glad you got the computer problem sorted. I don't mind reading the forum on the phone, in fact I do that all the time these days. But it's definitely easier to post from the computer.

Barbara is it just the CD/DVD Disc Drive which isn't working? If so - and depending how often you use it - it might be worth investigating/purchasing an external CD/DVD Reader/Writer. They are plug & play compatible for Windows Operating Systems and are available on Amazon U.K.

thanks for your kind advice, its a hardware and soft ware issue and has been ongoing this year. The people in the store say it should be written off but PC world IT say No
Out of principal im holding off replacing it as my contract says if it cant be repaired - after x number of attempts, I should get my money back and can get a new one to that value

so Im holding out for that option, they have written support letters to say the same
Ive got it back - today so currently adding everything back on again!!
