I do have the script of "the announcement" and, very strangely, Sean does not watch the tape of Blake's trial but the tape of Danny's custody. The part that Sean was supposed to watch was the part where Chris Deegan tries to prove that Bake is homophobic because he killed Ted Dinard. After that Blake says "it was an accident", Sean says "the sins of the father".

In the TV version, we see Alexis' testimony and after she tells that Joseph had been payed by Blake to not say that Blake hit Roger Grimes, Sean says the same line ("the sins of the father").

I was wondering why the change and then I thought that maybe Sean Rowan was supposed to be the real Adam ? After all, it is not before the end of season 8 that Michael Torrance was proven again to be Adam Carrington.

Would you have liked to see Sean Rowan revelead as the real Adam ?

Also, in the episode before, after that Steven drives towards a cliff and stops short, he was supposed to say "I will survive" instead of "I can survive" !

No, not yet ! :D

But it would make sense that she runs after Blake's younger version rather than after Joseph's son !

Of course, another theory is that Sean could have been created as a bastard son of Blake. So Alexis could have slept with him.

2017 I think (unless it is 2016)
The actor who played Sean was awful, so I could never accept him as a replacement for the magnetic Thomson's character. The real Adam twist would have been interesting (and weren't they planning it for the end of season 6?) earlier, but after the whole "we accept you and adopt you" arc it would have carried less punch. But perhaps it would have made more sense as a revenge desire against both parents and in a desire to bring both empires down. As it stood, nothing about Sean going after Blake made any sense.

That sounds very "Eva De Wolffe", but like @Alexis said, a bit too much for Dynasty (and certainly by 1980s US prime time standards).

It seemed very clear to me that Adam could not not have been Blake and Alexis' son. He couldn't have been more Carrington even if they tried.
Therefore, regardless of the replacement, I would avoid this retcon. If it ain't broke, don't fix it (but they almost did it anyway).
As it stood, nothing about Sean going after Blake made any sense
I like the actor playing Sean, I like the idea of the outsider villain puppeteering all the Carringtons in a season-long story arc, but the reason for the revenge was nonsensical and terribly, terribly cliché.
I preferred Joseph as the extremely devoted butler without a life and children for himself. I think that was part of his "charm" and I also loved the unspoken idea of his homosexual feelings for Blake. This should never become a thing of course, just something to tease the audience with.
And now there was another child!

At the very least make it a scheme on behalf of his (shock, gasp!) overbearing mother, played by a fabulous horror hag, of course. Kinda like the Rossinis on Falcon Crest.

Alternatively, could he not have been Cecil Colby's son? (Alexis had promised to destroy Blake and she failed).

Yes, it was the original cliffhanger. Clauda and Steven found him as a revenge against "fake Adam".

Rather another children. Don't forget Victoria (created just because Kathleen Beller was not avalaible).

Oh no, please no more hidden Colbys children ! An ex-wife would have been ok though.

If there's any character who should have had illegitimate children it was Cecil Colby. But I agree, it also doesn't make sense that he'd wreak havoc on behalf of his previously unknown father. If Cecil had known about a son he wouldn't have taken Jeff. Although he could find out afterwards and have him raised by someone else, Richard Channing style. Would Alexis discover the video recordings of various stages of Sean's childhood in Cecil's secret Bond villain room?

Now, who would have been a great "horror hag" to play that role?
Sylvia Sydney?
Doris Singleton?
Lucille Ball?
Uta Hagen?

I don't think any of them had actually been in a "hag horror," but this is a Dynasty thread. The reality was limited, but the (lost) possibilities are endless.

Funny, in the episode "the primary" Alexis says to Sean : "you remind me of the first man I fell in love with when I was 17 years old" and Sean guess it was Blake.

Also, in the episode before, after that Steven drives towards a cliff and stops short, he was supposed to say "I will survive" instead of "I can survive" !
I guess nobody got it :
