Richard joined the forums back in 2013, where he was known as Kristin Wentworth.

Like many Telly Talk members, Richard proved his creativity by posting trailer videos he made based on DYNASTY in 1969, gaining lots of praise from DYNASTY fans across the forums. But his talent doesn’t end there, Richard creates many amazing gifs that I hope he will showcase in this thread as the week continues.

Richard took part in our first SOAP CHAT BIG BROTHER. He played the role of Laquisha creating lots of havoc and laughs in the house and finished in second place.

2nd Laquisha....jpg

But what else do we know about Richard, and what don’t we know?

Please take this week to ask as many, or little questions you have for Richard including any follow-up questions that might arise during the week

Enjoy your week in the spotlight.

I will start with one question that intrigues me with everyone.

Richard, if you were to take part in Mastermind (a quiz show) what would be your specialist subject?

Thank you for that wonderful introduction Ome! As for your question, I've been thinking about this and it's a tough one. Of course, having been on this forum for 7 years now I know more about the 80's primetime soaps than I ever thought I would, but that aside, maybe i would go for Bond films of the 60's/70's/80's. I wasn't much of a fan of Pierce Brosnan as Bond, so my knowledge might trail off a bit in the 90's, but up until then I reckon I could be fairly competent.

Hi Richard,

I hope you will enjoy your week in the spotlight as much as I have! :)

I am wondering what your interests are?

Thanks for your question Karin. I have many interests which include film, music, art, photography, travel, yoga and nutrition. Also, recently I have been wanting to get into pottery/ceramics and I will be starting a 10 week course next month which I am really excited about. And I have been getting more into gardening recently since I moved into a new place in February which has a garden.

What are you considering growing?

So far i have had a grown my own tomatoes and strawberries. The wall they are along gets a lot of light so they have done really well. I also have mint and rosemary. I have planted some Virginia creepers on one wall which are growing well and are turning all kinds of beautiful shades of red, orange and pink now that autumn is on the way. Looking forward to when my whole wall is covered.

I've got a rose bush from one of my grandmother's gardens which is growing up one wall. beautiful shades of pink. And I will be planting another one from my other grandmother's garden which are yellow roses.

A wonderful array of colors w/the flowers, I take it.

Hi Richard, good afternoon, thanks for coming, take a seat ....

Right, yes, now tell me: what was the last album you listened to and what was your favourite track?

Good question James. And I had to think about it because these days I tend to make and listen to a lot of playlists on Spotify, so I don't listen to a lot of full albums.
But the last album I listened to was The Olympians by the band of the same name. This was my favourite track:

Very nice! It sounds like Neil Young's Heart Of Gold, I think.
having been on this forum for 7 years now I know more about the 80's primetime soaps than I ever thought I would
Maybe we could elaborate on that part.
I believe you joined soapchat when TNT Dallas was on TV? Did you not have the desire to discuss soaps before that?
Sorry I hope that doesn't come across as an accusation, I'm just genuinely curious.

Tbh the thought of discussing anything on a forum on the internet had never even occurred to me until I became aware of this forum via the DallasTNT website that the posts from here used to show up on. It was only after reading them for a few months that I finally decided I needed to join. Before that the soaps were just those shows I used to love in the 80's and would always watch if there were any reruns, but never really discussed with anyone.

But then being on the forum really fans the flames of fandom, and by being exposed to so much information and discussion about the soaps your interest in them grows and grows, and it lead me to seek them out and watch them again (what I could). Thus making me even more of a fan than I ever was before. Knots Landing was one that I had really missed all the glory years of, so it was great to watch those seasons for the first time.

Hello Richard, I have a few questions today, if I may:
  1. Of all the possible TV characters you could have chosen for your forum name, why did you decide on Richard Channing?
  2. Have you had any forum names other than Richard Channing?
  3. What is your favourite place that you have been to?
  4. If Hollywood was going to make a film of your life, who would be the ideal person to play you?

Thanks for answering my question @Richard Channing :)

I have a couple of follow up questions.

1. You said you like music, so I was wondering what's the best concert experience you've ever had?
2. What's you favorite movie?
3. What made you interested in learning how to do pottery?

Hi @Richard Channing.

What would your perfect day look like and what would you do with an unlimited budget?

Out of all the big Primetime soaps, which house would you live in and why?

And....my regular question, if you had a TARDIS (time machine) which famous event in time would you visit to find out what really happened?

Of all the possible TV characters you could have chosen for your forum name, why did you decide on Richard Channing?

Richard Channing is one of my favourite characters in any of the soaps and I was reaching a point where I felt like a change anyway, and then the site crash happened. So it was the perfect opportunity for a name change. I've always loved the villains in the soaps the best and Richard was a great one, and I loved his charm and sense of humour. Also, we share the same initials.

Have you had any forum names other than Richard Channing?

Yes, my previous incarnation was Kristin Wentworth, a Soapland frankensister who loved to play dress up.

What is your favourite place that you have been to?

I would probably have to go with Koh Phangan, an island in Thailand where I lived on and off from 2001 - 2008. Total paradise, where I met lots of wonderful people and had some of the best years of my life.

If Hollywood was going to make a film of your life, who would be the ideal person to play you?

I'm going to say Ryan Gosling. I went through a phase of really loving him and watched all his movies. I've kind of got over that a bit now but still I think he's a great actor. And we share the same birthday and I feel kind of an affinity with him.
