The last rewatch I did took about 6 years. The early years tend to drag but once you hit season season 6 (dvd) everything just comes together and you can fly through episodes - they’re so compelling. Things get a little sluggish in season 8. I personally like season 9 (the dream) and things for...
To expand on Grant’s idea. What if it transpired that Dr Jerry Kenderson had been in the hospital the night Bobby died. He discovered they’d found signs of life when Bobby was carted off to the
Morgue and then he and Mark both conspired to keep Bobby away and make everyone think he was dead...
I didn’t. YOU said ‘ALL’ viewers. I said ‘viewers.’
By this point in the UK we’d already seen the miscasting of Donna Reed which was a major jump the shark in audience and critics’ eyes. But the true jump the shark moment for the ‘majority’ (which you honestly can’t deny) was the dream. The...
They didn’t. 99 percent of Blast From The Past is Phillip Capice’s work. Katzman returned and stuck the shower scene on.
If Katzman hasn’t have come back Jamie would be dead, Cliff would have blamed JR. Sue Ellen paralysed and blaming JR again and Mark dead which again was JR’s fault so all of...
It would be fascinating to know at what point in 1986 did Leonard and Patrick know they were coming back? And how quickly was it from initial confirmation to filming the shower scene?
As i’ve often said I think the shower scene was the real problem. It sounds as if Katzman said let’s make it...
Very very good. Great idea to have Mark finding out and keeping it a secret. (That would have arguably been the catalyst for them splitting up and her reuniting with Bobby)
WHY did they go down the dream route?
THIS
You’re absolutely right. It’s as if they were all being punished. Victoria Especially.
And no, Ray and Jenna DON’T work. They’re horrible together. There was at sill so so so much mileage in the Donna character. The fact we’re still talking about 34 years later speaks volumes
Season 10 (dvd) saw the departures of Jenilee Harrison, Deborah Shelton, Susan Howard and Victoria Principal. All had featured prominently in season 9 but (arguably apart from Deborah Shelton) given nothing to do in season 10.
To lose 4 main characters in one season didn’t help Dallas
We did know. Back in 85 it was well publicised Patrick was leaving, it was also well known in advance he’d be killed saving Pam and that Katherine would be driving the car. None of it was a surprise. It was all over the newspapers.
What was a surprise was how well it was structured and shot.
Skip it.
My last rewatch I stopped watching during Swansong with Ray and Donna by the pool and then went straight into Return to Camelot.
It still doesn’t flow quite as well as you’d want it to (bad picture quality, terrible hair and fashions and out of nowhere the oil business is in terrible...
when I went to Southfork I stood in the exact spot JR was and thought about that scene (although I know in the show that was actually the sound stage at that point)
Watching season 9 (dvd) and then going straight into season 10, of course the dream resolution makes everything very jarring. But there’s some other things that don’t help
- The switch to cheaper film stock. Suddenly the show looks cheap, fuzzy and pink! Everybodies pink!
- The hair and make...
I visited Dallas in the summer of 2009.
I arrived at night and stayed at a hotel in the city centre which was being renovated. I can’t recall the name but it was an old hotel and had been used in the show. It was absolutely beautiful.
I spent a couple of days wandering around. Finding the...
The best season! The look of the show is gorgeous. Why was Bradford May not appreciated by the powers that be? Perhaps his way of working wasn’t schedule friendly and maybe they got behind. But over 30 years later it still looks glorious.
I did a series rewatch about ten years ago and you can...
Interestingly when the lookalike plot came up a year later I do remember at the time, the BBC ran a brief trail of the scene of Bobby and Cliff arriving in a car and seeing Margaret Michaels and cliff saying something along the lines of ‘oh my God it’s Pam.’
when you actually watched the...
Again if you watch the episodes back to back and not as originally intended it’s noticeable how much Pam always talks about HER life and HER problems to Katherine and never seems to care if her sister has any issues
What’s weird is if you do watch the episodes involving Katherine back to back now and not originally planned - once a week, her shift of character in the last two episodes of season 7 (just before Bobby is shot) are jarring.
She suddenly turns on Cliff and all her plans subsequently come out...
