"The gentlemen on my left and right are senators."

Cliff perhaps?

Yes, Cliff in one of the first series scenes with the Senate committee investigating Ewing Oil and payoffs.

"You can go to hell on a handcart!"

Sorry...I didn't mean it personally, Santa Swami...
Oh, you mean it as a quote question. :crazyme:

Sounds like Ray.

"He's turning us Ewings up on TV."

Jock about Cliff?

"Does that turn you on, calling me Mister?"

"Still brown-bagging it, I see?"

Well, well, well. Somebody has been watching J.R. Returns!

This was J.R, who had been away for 5 years, showing up in Cliff's office. Cliff is carrying his lunch in a brown paper bag because he is Cliff.

And while we are on the subject, if you are a George Kennedy fan, there is a nice scene between Carter Mckay and J.R. Ewing later in that movie where J.R. is attempting to buy Ewing Oil.

Larry Hagman and George Kennedy are great actors, and they filmed this scene with the confidence of actors who are enjoying the moment.

J.R.: I wanted to talk to you about West Star and Ewing Oil. I'm curious. . . Cliff Barnes is no threat to you.
Mckay: Ewing Oil is a good company. It has plenty of fields and we have the money to develop them.
J.R.: Assuming this merger does go through. Does that mean that Ewing Oil will cease to exist?
Mckay: Like Jonah and the whale, we would swallow it whole.
J.R.: You're still trying to pick off the independents one by one are you?
Mckay: Something like that.

It is fun to watch the actors each underplaying their part in the scene, trusting the dialogue.

"I hope you don't mind if I take a taxi, I'd like stay away from all three of you for a while!"
If Sue Ellen had said that instead of jumping in her station wagon, it would have saved Mickey Trotter and everybody else a lot of of trouble.

JR to Bobby, Ray and Donna after he was dragged soaking wet to the office to play the recording of Cliff's conversation with JR - after Bobby had found out about Pam's wild goose chase.

"Why not? You've taken a big enough bite out of the Ewing apple so far!"

"Sue Ellen had just divorced you before this, so you were a free man!"
I think that was Bob to JR when Cally showed up

Nice job, Jon Ewing, Jr!

And I'm glad Swami posted this because it leads up to a scene where Patrick Duffy and Larry Hagman get to banter back and forth. You can tell they are both enjoying the scene:

J.R. (sees Bobby smiling): Go ahead and say it!
Bobby: You didn't have to marry her, Pal.
J.R: I didn't? Her brothers would have killed me if I hadn't
Bobby: Those guys we had trouble with at the bar? I should have let them beat some sense into you then, it would have ended the whole thing.
J.R. She's just a little hillbilly
Bobby: She's a hillbilly with a marriage license
J.R. I'm going to take care of that soon enough
Bobby: Maybe you're right. Divorcing her would be much kinder than staying married to her
J.R. Momma should have had her tubes tied right after she had me!

BHAHAHAHAHA!

You can tell they had a lot of fun filming that scene

one of them high rises down in Venezuela
JR to Sue Ellen about Ray, not long after Ray is revealed as Jock's fourth son.

"That was when some dumb old coot tried to kill us!"

Swami

hm, just a wild guess, but did it have something to do with when JR needed blood (perhaps after after being shot by Kristin) and the situation was complicated because he’d had a transfusion after the Landowne ambush?
