Well it's Fallon Carrington #2 and Emily Fallmont checking in. Under assumed names of course. The incognito Emily just uttered the line "Don't ruin your life for an orgasm" to Fallon #2. We also have Leslie Neilson as an alcoholic washed up bum homeless tramp who steals someone's luggage/suit at the hotel too. In other news Christine has a lump in her breast/cancer scare that is all wrapped up and resolved in one episode. Likely to never be mentioned again. It did make Christine and Peter kiss so... So there's that.

I dunno
I can't believe how lazy they were with casting on this show with re-using actors.

Maybe Aaron got a discount or something.

I think the using of the same actors over and over was part of it's appeal. To see your favourite soap star on another show, that sort of thing.
The last ones I watched had Kristen Shepard and Jack Ewing from Dallas, and Joshua Rush from Knots Landing and Marsha Russell from Peyton Place.

Oh... And also the wonderful Adrienne Cassidy from The Colbys too! She was a bit of lush on Hotel too. But with good reason, her uncle had been abusing when she was 8 years old, but her father Paul Galveston from Knots Landing knocked him out.

Tonight we have Katherine Wentworth and Mark Grayson at the St Gregory. Along with Frenchie from Grease. I swear it's true!

Well I did finish season 2 and marched on into season 3 which I am about half way through now. Again, we have had all the familiar faces all over again. Mary Crosby must have made a fortune from being on Hotel, she checks in multiple times a season. There was a great one with Patrick Duffy and he had multiple personality disorder and I got the impression this all stemmed from his mother abusing him as a child. It was never stated, but it was just all a bit creepy. His mother in it was that crazy psychic from Dynasty that scared the bejesus out of Alexis.

Also another chilling performance from a young Tori Spelling. A god awful actress even as a child. Then there was Tracy Kendal from Dynasty playing a version of The Cole Miners Daughter. Christopher Atkins, as Anne Baxter's fake step son. He's fully clothed at all times in this though. The romance between Christine and Peter is hurtling along at a snails pace. It's 3 seasons in and approximately nothing has happened. Imagine shipping those two in the '80s. Hell.

They just look at each other semi-longingly now and again and get all pissed when one of them has a date with someone else. Watching the shows back to back Christine comes off as a bit of a good time girl. She's a different man every other night. I'm sure it's different when you aren't watching 4 or 5 episodes in a sitting. :embarrass:

I also enjoyed Jane Badler's gold digger aerobics instructor dalliance with Wayne Northrop before eventually deciding to run off to London with Mel Ferrer. Then there was a quite touching one where Jean Simmons played an aging Hollywood actress, who was coming to realise she was suffering from dementia. It was a little teary for me, I'm not gonna lie. But I think my favourite was the one where Chip Roberts from Knots Landing played a gay guy in relationship with a hot gay doctor and they were fighting for custody of a little girl. They were in a custody battle with none other than Cecil Colby and the mom from The Partridge Family.

It's all kinds of fun! More to watch tonight.

In a tense two parter Peter has just rescued Christine from some shady arms dealer terrorist man who looked a bit like Ben from Dynasty only hammier. It was all very the A- Team as Peter grappled along some guttering and spied in windows then stole a helicopter to rescue Christine. All this amid the backdrop of an old employee of the St Gregory planting a hoax bomb at the hotel. I mean it just doesn't get more '80s than that.

Anyways, on to the next one and I see in the opening credits it's going to be Cliff from Dallas along with total dream boat DR MITCH F**KING COOPER from Dallas and Marsha Russell from Peyton Place... Again!

Well that one was unexpected. Turns out gorgeous Mitch Cooper from Dallas was a bar man at the St Gregory along with Cliff. Only Mitch was a gay guy who Cliff kept making fun off. Then Cliff somehow gets told that he has AIDS.... It all goes a bit after school special at this point and various staff at the St Gregory start educating us all about AIDS.
Cliff's family think he's been fooling around with guys, or hookers or doing drugs. His son is a young Tom Scavo from Desperate Housewives and he's all kinds of hot and I kind of want him to be Mitch Coopers boyfriend but sadly he's not. Mitch Cooper doesn't even have a shirtless scene at all in this one. I mean it's kind of depressing.

Anyways much of the plot of this episode revolves around the question of how Cliff Barnes got AIDS.... He wasn't a gay, he didn't shag any hookers, which I was thinking could have been an option since HOTEL loves hookers. He wasn't on drugs either... Turns out he got AIDS from having a blood transfusion when he got his gallbladder out two years previously.

So we have had two very gay-centric episodes this season.

Ted Dinard just got thrown out of the St Gregory for making porno films with under age teenage runaways....

Maybe Blake Carrington was right about him.

I wonder how much Shari Belafonte and Heidi Bohay got paid for this show, I mean the basically do nothing every episode and yet they are in the opening credits.

I'm nearing the end of season 3 now. I have just had Julie Gillette (The Best A Man Get -Gillette) sing on a TV talent show, kind of like X-Factor but better. All the way through the episode I kept looking at Julie's outfits and thinking how much I disliked them. She looked weird, like a clown. Then she enters the stage to sing her song and what does she sing? Tears Of A Clown. Shari Belafonte is an awful actress, and an even worse singer. Something about her just really irks me.

It was a pretty dull episode, even with Michelle Philips as a brilliant scientist who's living with a double agent.

Now, in this one coming up we have a young Sarah Jessica Parker. You can imagine how I feel about this one.

Off-topic: one of the reasons I liked Murder She Wrote so much is that she often visited rich dysfunctional families in beautiful mansions (it didn't make sense that these people were her friends, but whatever, these episodes were like mini-soaps).

Stop it Willie. Don't tempt me! That's half the reason I loved Columbo so much, and I had to buy the complete box set.

I just noticed that I misspelled Arthur Hailey's name in the thread title.... Can @Ome fix this?

In this latest episode we have a version of Mommie Dearest with none other than Debbie Reynolds in the Joan Crawford type role. I'm so happy....

Wow... In the very same episode Christine was seeing a very hot doctor played dreamily by Charles Frank. Me likes him a lot, and a lot more than Christine it seems. He proposes to her and he puts a ring inside a cake and all that Jazz. And, well she doesn't accept, because she finally admits that she's in love with older dream boat Peter McDermott. She brakes it off with the hot doctor and then... After three seasons of lukewarm sexual chemistry, after a torturous and often dull lesson in awkward flirtation. After Three Seasons!! Finally...
PETER KISSES CHRISTINE.

And there is still two more episodes left of the season... Oh wait... Does Hotel do cliff hangers? I don't think so? No? Ok. Well....

Ok, So.. I had a few days without proper internet because they are working on it in my area. I was off work and had no net, so... Like any normal person would do. I binged on HOTEL. I started season 4.
Season 4 starts with awkwardness between Peter and Christine, she's leaving the St Gregory and San Fran because Peter cant give her commitment. There's a lot of huffing and puffing and sulking and then Peter shows up at the last minute and confesses his love for Christine and then they go back to give the good news to Victoria. Only... And I didn't see this coming at all... Victoria is dead... She's had a stroke. At this point I pause the DVD to google Anne Baxter and when she died, it takes forever to load but, yes... Anne Baxter really did die during HOTEL. I'm really bummed about this, genuinely so. But I go back to watching and discover that Peter has been left 50% stock in the St Gregory... He shares it with Victoria's family. Victoria left it to Peter as he's the son she never had. She also left a note in her will telling him that she hoped by now he realised Christine was the one for him. It's all a bit emosh....

Anyways then season 4 takes HOTEL down a whole other soapy continuing story route. It's now much less episodic story of the week and stories seem to stretch out over the season. We meet the Cabot's Victoria's in-laws. One of whom is Charles Cabot played by kinda Blake Carrington Lookalike Efrem Zimbalist, he's a son of a bitch and he wants Peter out of his hotel and out of his penthouse, which he moved into when Victoria left.
Then it all plays out as a proper soap, we have the ongoing ark of the Cabot's trying to get back the hotel and sabotage Peter and Christine at every chance. Michelle Philips shows up (Again) in an ongoing role as Elizabeth Bradshaw who is really Charles Cabot's daughter undercover. Nobody mentions the two times she was previously staying at the St Gregory. I think those times she wasn't Elizabeth Bradshaw, but I cant be certain, I mean she was undercover when I met her in season 4, so was she undercover before? It makes my head hurt... Any way she gets hired as the Concierge, and has a nice desk and all right by the stairs. The hotel never had one before, and there was never a desk there before, but OK... I'll go with it.
Long story short she does all soapy vixeny things and tries to break up Peter and Christine but they are too smart, they have her number and after what? A 6 episode ark she's packed up and shipped out, shortly followed by Charles. He eventually see's eye to eye with Peter and then moves to South America to be in love with a high flying lady doctor who's off saving children's lives or what not.

Later, Christine develops Bulemarexia for one episode, like when she had breast cancer and then Peter finds her at home stuffing her face and convinces her to see a doctor. It's later implied that she goes to meetings or something for her Bulemarexia. I didn't make that word up, the doctor did.

But the most soapy and yet most boring continuing story this season is.... Dave's amphetamine addiction. It's so shit brain annoyingly stupidly done and it makes me hate everything in the universe. I kept thinking it would be 1 or 2 episode thing but they dragged it out for years. Well it felt that way. He starts taking uppers to study for his Law exams, then to pass the bar he needs to study more so he takes more to stay awake and then he's hooked. He's a dirty speed junkie and he's all moody and has stubble and ripped jeans and talks like he's just had 45 Americanos intravenously pumped into him. His wife Megan leaves him, but she's pregnant and then looses the baby after they row... then... Peter makes him see a doctor because Peter is like the Jesus of the St Gregory. And then it's later implied that Dave goes to meetings for being a crack head, like AA.

Christine is promoted to take Peter's job as he's now the owner like Victoria was. So now Megan is promoted to be Christine's assistant and Julie (The Best A Man Can Get) Gillette is now Director of Guest Relations, she took Mark's job. I guess Mark got fired. They said he moved to another hotel but I'm not convinced.

Notable guest stars I have seen this season are Morgan Brittany, Jared Martin, Maxwell Caulfield, Juliet Mills, Don Murrey, Delta Burke, Deborah Adair...

But the worst, the one from hell... Was Claudia F**king Lonlow who appeared like a monster in a dream to ruin my fun with her awful acting and long auburn hair. Actually her hair was quite nice, it was long, not like her Knots Landing hair. She was still annoying though. Cole Gioberti was a pianist who put her in a coma for 10 years after causing a car accident. I LOVE Cole Gioberti.
