very good point. I'll take out of place over out of character like JR later becomes- the buffoon. Tony does feel like he's from another show, maybe Knots landing perhaps. ...
Just because Patrick left, and BBG returned, what was the cause of this weird feeling?
Its still superior to S10. Pam is hardly seen despite her impending wedding to bobby.

If you go into it knowing, maybe, but watching it "live", so to speak, I never had that feeling.

The reason Pam is hardly seen is obvious.

Lorimar knew she was leaving so they deliberately reduced her screen time in preparation for her departure. :(
