Considering how successful Dynasty was, and how keen they were to merchandise it with clothes, scents, dolls etc., it surprises me that there weren't more books published about it - behind the scenes, companions or novelisations.

I have the "Authorized Biography of the Carringtons", the excellent Billie Rae Bates book, and the Judith Moose and Jostein Gripsrud books. I know they did do two novelisations of the early years but if they basically follow what we can see on screen with the DVDs there doesn't seem much point in getting them.

Am I missing anything from my collection?

If I had been involved at the time, following is what I would have pitched to Esther Shapiro for a series of tie-in novels to be commissioned, focusing on minor characters, and/or filling in gaps in what we see on screen. Aimed primarily at the female/romance market, as the titles show.

Dynasty: The Teenage Bride (early years of Blake and Alexis through to their divorce)
Dynasty: Murder on the Yacht (Alexis, Caress and Zach, and his wife)
Dynasty: The Chauffeur's Story (how Michael Culhane made his money, and picking up after s7)

and perhaps even, though I'm not sure anyone was still interested...
Dynasty: The Royals in Exile (the Moldavians after they were hastily written out of the TV show)

Any other ideas? If anyone would like to write any of them and post them in the fanfic section I can guarantee you at least one reader...

No, Joel and Krystle are just my favourite couple of the show.
He did EVERYTHING for her! It was all so romantic, he brought her books, clothes... hell, even a TV!!! And then mostly rejections, i felt sooo bad for him! That ungreatful bitch! A true tragedy.. :(

Nobody is going to read that filth!

In fact, I think it would tarnish the genuine merchandise novels. Maybe Mr. Laird could look into the legal implications? Do you think we could sue?:box:

I dunno
I mostly want to know where Krystle peed while up in the attic. If those books has the answer to that, I'm happy!

Dynasty: In Therapy With The Carringtons (in-depth analyses by Dr. Nick Toscanni)
Maybe they could hype it with a fake "banned from sales!" printed on the dust jacket?

Dynasty: Making "Dominique Deveraux" (rags-to-riches story of the superstar and international glamour icon)

Dynasty: My First Cookie Book! by Krystina Carrington (but it has a lot of unintentional tittle-tattle. A must-read for all Dynasty fans)

They missed a trick by not publishing a Sister Dearest tie in novel during the Caress arc in season six. Alexis' backstory during her banishment was also ripe for multiple novelisations.

Knots Landing seems to have had at least ten tie-in novels and Dallas churned out a few too. Maybe Dynasty had so few because they had enough trouble keeping the writing on the show on track, never mind expanding the universe into print.

Joan Collins would have it banned from sales!
Unless "Alexis" could write an answer-novel "My Lying, Backstabbing Bitch Sister".

2017 I think (unless it is 2016)
No, Joel and Krystle are just my favourite couple of the show.

I always thought Joel (and Peter de Vilbis earlier) was aversion therapy for all us gay followers of DYNASTY to flip us back to women. And then they brought Karen Cellini and all their work was for naught

This is great, we can make a whole book series. And it would be a much better way to monetise the brand than what's on the CW at the moment.

Willie, I realise you were joking, but I would definitely buy some of those titles!

I wasn't joking (except for Alexis' answer-novel) I think everything is possible as long as it's written in a tasteful manner e.g. Steven's New York story wouldn't be gayporn or anything like that.
The therapy book wouldn't be a romantic novel, but a fake-documentation based on Nick's sessions with the various Carringtons (or he could write it from Krystle's perspective).

Maybe we could create some cover artwork, like the real Dynasty books :)

I prefer the drawn pictures style but these are hard to find (unless you'd do it yourself)

I have a few ideas:

DYNASTY: THE CARRINGTON'S & THE ROARING TWENTIES

DYNASTY: A WORLD WAR II STORY, This will follow Blake and how he met the Morell's in London in 1943-44,

DYNASTY: THE MRS CARRINGTON, THAT NEVER WAS, Takes place between the years 1968 to 1978, Blake's romance with Sheba Fenwick, a Bostonian blue blood, she has a tempestuous relationship with the still heartbroken, damaged Blake Carrington who is hardened to love, she befriends Fallon and Steven and has hopes and dreams that she may one day become the next Mrs Carrington, only for her to accidently introduce Blake to Krystle......

DYNASTY: THE MISSING YEARS, takes place between Spring 1989 to
October 1991, it fills in the gap between the season 9 and the reunion

Dynasty: Homeward Bound

Amanda's life in London, starting with her decision to leave her family in Denver (very poignant stuff) and back in London she gets involved with a political scandal.
Clay Fallmont follows her and she has to choose between the handsome Clay, a handsome London banker and an enigmatic Irish underworld person. Who will it be?
Very romantic, Danielle Steele-esque.

Dynasty - The Paranormal Palazzo
Alexis is haunted by a portrait in her Palazzo, soon a poltergeist is knocking over jardinières and causing all kinds of havoc. Can her butler save her? And what's with the sugared almonds? Who cares?

You mean when she's living in the Carrington mansion again? That could be an old-fashioned thriller.
But is it paranormal, or is someone trying to push her over the edge? Can she really trust her butler?
