I'm listening to Annie Lennox's Medusa. I remember when it it came out in the 90's, and I heard her version of "A Whiter Shade of Pale." At the very end of the song she sings. "as the Miller told his tale." She extends the "as" a tad bit longer than she had previously on the song. There's something about that one second that makes the whole album for me.
I love Annie Lennix and Medusa is a wonderful album, but that brief moment in her voice is sublime.

I feel the same way about a single guitar chord near the end of the Manic Street Preacher's song If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next. It's only about 2 seconds long and it's hard to identify why I think it's so special. It's dramatic and its timing is unexpected and for me it stands out above everything else in the song (and I love the whole song). When I listen to the song, the moment that chord is played, it grabs me every time it and makes my heard soar, even now more than 20 years after I first heard the song.
