Dear God, please help...

US President Donald Trump has been lambasted by the medical community after suggesting research into whether coronavirus might be treated by injecting disinfectant into the body.

He also appeared to propose irradiating patients' bodies with UV light, an idea dismissed by a doctor at the briefing.

Another of his officials had moments earlier said sunlight and disinfectant were known to kill the infection.

Disinfectants are hazardous substances and can be poisonous if ingested.

Even external exposure can be dangerous to the skin, eyes and respiratory system.

What did President Trump say?

During Thursday's White House coronavirus task force briefing, an official presented the results of US government research that indicated coronavirus appeared to weaken more quickly when exposed to sunlight and heat.

The study also showed bleach could kill the virus in saliva or respiratory fluids within five minutes and isopropyl alcohol could kill it even more quickly.

William Bryan, acting head of the US Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate, outlined the findings at the news conference.

While noting the research should be treated with caution, Mr Trump suggested further research in that area.

"So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous - whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light," the president said, turning to Dr Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response co-ordinator, "and I think you said that hasn't been checked but you're going to test it.

"And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside of the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're going to test that too. Sounds interesting," the president continued.

"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?

"So it'd be interesting to check that."

Pointing to his head, Mr Trump went on: "I'm not a doctor. But I'm, like, a person that has a good you-know-what."

It's so ironic that he thinks he has a good "you-know-what"...
At least, if a Zombie pandemic was coming to us, he'd be safe. Zombies come for the brain, and they know that if they come to him, they will starve.

I think Anthony Fauci should suggest injecting Trump with Domestos as it's such a tremendous way to kill Covid-19.

Watching Trump is like watching Der Untergang (Downfall) again. Or Caligula? The absolute craziness when someone is so deranged and out of his mind and no one dares to stop him. I'm wondering since Putin helped him into the White House how children/ teens in the US react to watching news? I know I would have been terrified as a kid because I was shocked by documentaries about Hitler, listening to his hate-mongering voice, the erratic behaviour, his crazy ideas and violent speech wording. Only Trump speaks shockingly less coherent despite being always surrounded by TV cameras since the 1980s. The US is still a democracy? There have to be people in the government or justice department who must stop that. There must have been some decent people left he forgot to fire.

He literally didn't care about the virus, even when the CDC or/and specialists warned him. He said it was a joke. Then that it was under control. Then that it would disappear like a miracle... Then he said he knew since day one it was a pandemic. And now, that...

The man only cares about his ratings on TV. He is like a giant egocentric baby, who will never ever take responsibility.

I suggest he trials his theory on himself.

For a country I love so very much, if he is re-elected I will start to lose even more hope in the world.

Some good leader... Now some moron will probably do as he suggested and die.

Next week, he'll be saying "I know medicine, no one understands medicine better than I do"

Thanks for the video @Emelee
I didn't know that one. It's so ridiculous. I mean, how can anyone with a functional brain can take him seriously? The guy says he know better than anyone on any subjects. He think he's all-knowing.

This loon has a serious God complex....

Of course now he is saying no one understood his sarcasm. Here is The President standing behind the lectern answering questions from the very people he distrusts the most and he expects those very people to grasp his sense of humour? Little wonder my swear jar is overflowing.

It's a shame his opponent is an authoritarian war monger with dementia who went into hiding at the start of this pandemic and wants to gut social programs. That won't restore hope.

The reason Trump won in the first place is because the Democrats keep propping up these evil neoliberals. But the media said Putin's responsible, which satisfied most of the electorate.

Regardless of who wins the general election in November, the US is guaranteed to have an evil moron as president for at least another four years.

His briefings are surreal, it's shocking what he says and how he conducts them. I don't know why the press just don't walk out.

The scientist woman at that briefing, is she a republican? I saw she did her first interview on Fox 'News', defending him. Or was she made to do that in fear of her job?

There has been some confusion over that statement because people didn't pay attention to what President Trump said. The key phrase that some poeple didn't hear, or pretended not to because it would make for a sensationalist story and that's what makes them money (the more sensational the better) is the phrase: "something like that."

It takes a certain amount of common sense to realize that that certain "something like that" would be something that would kill the virus, as effectively as bleach kills the virus, without the patient incurring the devastating effects that injecting bleach would cause.

I think there's a bit of exaggeration there, in describing the two likely candidates for president as "evil morons."A moron has an IQ of less than 70.

What I'd like to know is where do you think all the highly capable, intelligent people that would do a wonderful job of being president are? Have you considered that the reason they don't run for office is they just don't want the job? Who wants a job with that much stress that pays that little of a salary? President Trump doesn't even accept his salary; he donates it because he doesn't need the $400,000 a year. He's multi-billionaire! What's he going to do with $400,000?

Maybe we're going to have to start offering a salary commensurate to the responsibility the job entails, and the amount of stress it brings with it. You know the saying: "You get what you pay for."

Apparently for $400,000 a year, all we get is a Trump or a Biden, or some wing nut who runs despite knowing he won't be elected because mainstream America doesn't want an extremist (of either the right or the left) as our President. Most people tend to be pretty middle of the road in their beliefs. If most people had extremist beliefs, then by definition, they wouldn't be extremist beliefs, would they?

My definition of "middle of the road" doesn't include letting people suffer and die because they weren't fortunate enough to become rich. Challenging the corporate and militarist takeover of our two dominant political parties will always be met with resistance. Ideas that were once considered extreme are becoming mainstream as people realize they've been screwed over.

Trump is a liar who thinks you can inject disinfectant into the body to kill the Coronavirus. Biden is a liar who can no longer form complete sentences. We must do better than this. There's a saying that the last person who should be president is the one who wants it the most. Most people who run for president are in it for power rather than a desire to serve their country.
