Chrissie has a sister?

I'm new to the show so I don't know if she's been in it before. Over the last couple of months I've really enjoyed Chrissie's story and think she's a great character.

I don't understand why they are moving Belle so far away. Surely she needs her family and loved ones around her.

Besides what kind of a country are we if we can't look after someone outside of of Surrey?

She's been mentioned a lot, but I don't think we've ever seen her.

I love Chrissie but her extreme meanness has been a bit sudden. I realize that is was largely done to facilitate Andy's exit story and I don't think it's out of character for her to be so angry and bitter because of her history with men. I'd just like them to explore it a bit more and maybe send her toward some sort of break down.

I don't understand why they are moving Belle so far away. Surely she needs her family and loved ones around her.
Don't you have any affordable hospitals up north? :D What I don't understand about the story is this: It's 5000 dollars per week for the hospital in Surrey. So they have the 5000 dollars now, but how are they planning on paying for week two and week three, etc? Surely they realize it's going to be longer than a week. I think the doctor mentioned that it could be a while. It doesn't make any sense. Still I've enjoyed Lisa in all this and it's been fun to see the Dingles all banning together.

This is the only Chrissie I know, so it's working perfect for me. She's like a milder version of Sienna...

I thought that too and wondered if it was mentioned (because I can get distracted lol) with Lisa saying she would deal with that in a week. All in all I find it absolute nonsense that they would move a young person down the country and away from their family & loved ones. It ruins part of the story for me when I see Lisa trying to steal cars and yeah, I guess that fits in with who the Dingles are, but the story is so great it doesn't need that side to it.

I really, really do not like Paddy and last night when he started that psycho behaviour in Rhona's house I thought maybe he could be good at this. Maybe I've miss-judged him and my dislike is because of the story-lines he gets, oh and how he's a numpty too.

But no, by the end of the episode he actually irritated me more.

I have no interest in Paddy. He annoys me. I use his scenes as opportunities to check my email, check out Soap Chat or do a quick chore. (Unless his scenes include Robert or Aaron--then I'm kind of stuck with him.)

Robert falling--the little noises and "no, no, no, no" thing that he did really made me smile.

Where is Lydia from?

Jimmy meets her at some counselling group and now she's everywhere in the village. Well, I say everywhere, she seems to be wherever Jimmy is.

I've found the show to be quite poor over the last few weeks, even a struggle to watch at times. I'm hoping it's just a blip and not an indication of what's to come as we're now well and truly into this new producer's reign. I can't see how they thought that the David-Tracy-Vanessa-Prince Frank of Moldavia story would be strong enough to carry nearly whole episodes over several weeks. It's a dud of a plot.

For the last few years I've read nothing but heaps of praise for the show, my mum has been going on and on at me to watch it because she believes it's the best soap out there.

It really does look like I picked a dud time to check back in. All the major players over the last few years including Robert, Aaron, Emma, Ross & Pete, Cain and she's mention more haven't really appeared much, so I'm looking forward to when some of these get the main focus again.

The highlights for me over the past three months

Belle's affair/lies/breakdown - Even Lisa moved me at times
Chrissie framing Andy
Lawrence & Ronnie's secret exposed
Tracey & Vanessa finding out they are sisters
Ashley's continuing story
Kerry's one night stand
Robert's revenge for the Whites

Not great, but not bad

Holly's return and the robbery
Rakesh scrambling to get money
Zak & Joanie's wedding drama
Moira & Cain's split

The downs

David & his son and the endless proposals - he's such a wooden actor which irritates me.
Paddy's return and his king of the castle crown
Charity trying to get back with Cain
Nicola's kiss with Dan
The whole pirate ship story
James declaring his love for Moira
Marlon & Sam Dingle
Rhona & Pierce
Jai & Holly
Jimmy & Lydia

Yes, and this is the first time I've been so critical of the show in a long while. It may not always be perfect, but Emmerdale has been consistently watchable over the last few years.

I think so, although it may make it easier to get back into the show when there's not much going on.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for some of these characters to take a back seat for a while. If Aaron could take some time to dry his eyes out and let the likes of Diane or Brenda get a story then I'd be happy.

Belle's affair/lies/breakdown
Belle and her "friend" was a bit too Hollyoaks for me. I'm still not sure why they went with a minor character tormenting Belle, unless it was meant to be Gemma and they couldn't get the actress back.

Lawrence & Ronnie's secret exposed
Lovely story. And Bernice too. And just Bernice in general.

Chrissie framing Andy
The whole story felt thrown together to me, it never really made any sense. I hated Andy's exit.

Charity trying to get back with Cain
Chain 4eva!

Rhona & Pierce
I thought it'd be much more fun if Pierce had turned out to be just a really nice guy.

Jai & Holly
I've found myself quite liking these two together, a lot more bearable than some other recent pairings, like David and Tracy, or <<shudder>> Marlon and Carly!

Diane hasn't really featured much, the last big story I remember (and this is going back some time) was when Charlie ripped her off

Belle and her "friend" was a bit too Hollyoaks for me.
Yeah, that part was annoying, but unlike Hollyoaks, I don't think it dragged on too much.

I thought Ellie was a previous friend/character. Coming into the show at this point, I had to make some of my own backstories lol

The first few scenes I watched was Andy & Chrissie together as a couple, then he kissed Bernice and later slept with her. So the whole 'framing' story came together nicely for me. I couldn't judge or not believe it because I'm not familiar with Chrissie's history. What I really liked about this story was seeing Robert and Andy together at the end, again I don't know if that was out of character for the two, but I thought there was some lovely scenes between them.

Despite Paddy, Marlon, Sam & David I'm really enjoying getting back into the show.

There were some nice moments, but I'm not sure they were entirely earned given that Robert had inadvertently caused the death of Andy's wife, which lead Andy to enter into a pact to have Robert killed. I'd have preferred if all of that had lead to Andy's exit rather than some last minute storyline involving Chrissie.

I'm stunned !

Tonight's double bill was brilliant. Very close to early Brookie.

I had read about Holly leaving, but I thought it was going to tie in with another character supposedly leaving, so tonight came as a quite a shock and hats off to Emmerdale for not shouting out about it like Corrie did with Kylie.

It reminded me of the old days with Brookie where some of their character exits were kept quiet and Natalie's acting surrounding the whole story was beautifully executed. I tried fighting back the tears, but when Moira started chasing the car they was no holding back.

I'm not clear on what exactly happened, I thought Holly was all about her job & Jai, so why she took the drugs is questionable and why was the window wide open, could something more than a simple overdose be behind this....? I certainly hope so.

That was heartbreaking. I love the unexpectedness of it. (I didn't know that Holly was leaving.) US soaps don't come close to pulling off this type of emotional death anymore. They are meaningless cartoons on the US soaps, unilke Holly's death--with the gritty little details like not being allowed in the room while the police do their job or watching the body being taken out.

I like how they built to this. Besides Moira, I felt terribly sorry for Jai and that was because they didn't rush his relationship with Holly. It's been building for several weeks.

Could it be that...

No, I'm not going to think that way.

But what if..?

No, he can't be responsible, can he?

But then again... it would be an interesting twist

It was what Moira said about John waiting for Holly at the end of the line that got me. It was all really well done, brilliant script from Karin Young, some nicely filmed scenes. I like how the episode took its time, lengthy scenes should be the norm. I also liked that it gave characters like Brenda and Megan a moment to reflect on their own lost children. And I just loved that so much of the episode took place on the farm, something that's totally unique to Emmerdale.

and why was the window wide open
There's something about the image of an open window...maybe it was meant to symbolize Holly having gone, set free.

Or maybe it had been a warm night.

The whole story surrounding Moria really reminded me of early Brookie and I think you've hit the nail on the head with this. This is what I felt. No need for hysterical drama, just watching Moria digest what is happening, not letting others go into Holly's room because it wasn't tidy.

I watched it all again tonight and there were three moments where I struggled the most.
1. Moria realising Holly was dead, yet so desperate to try and wake her up
2. Moria laying on the bed and cuddling Holly while stroking her hair
3. Moria saying she didn't want them to take her "can she stay a little bit longer, we have time" and then chasing the private ambulance.
