"Prequel 2" gets full series order

After cancelling the plans of a prequel set 5000 years before GoT, HBO has announced that they have given another prequel a full series order (10 episodes). This one is based on George RR Martin's book about the Targaryens time on the throne. It's set 300 years before GoT.

I thought so too, but then again present day GoT is 0% like present day real Earth. Chances are things would look quite similar.

It may take some time until this one comes out. George RR Martin said this week that he won't start writing for this show until he's finished writing book 6 in the GoT book series (A Song of Ice and Fire).

The way i understood that was that HE wouldn't be writing for this show until he is done with the book.
But that was the answer to the question if he would add some scripts to this show. That doesn't mean this show won't start with scripts written by others (which it surely will).
