I don't know, I don't see how it couldn't be possible. I recently watched a documentary on serial killers and they were showing how animals including humans react to mother child bonding. Nature vs nurture and how close contact is important in the early development of humans and animals.
They had these baby monkeys in cages and they had two fake "mothers" set up. One was a cold wire frame in the shape of the mother monkey, but it had a bottle of warm milk for the monkey to feed on. The other was a warm soft fake mother but with no food for the baby monkey. It showed that the baby monkeys would choose warmth and comfort over food every time. They'd rather starve than be without the warmth and comfort of the "mother".
