Was this tabloid gossip or were the producers seriously considering these storylines? Some of this actually made it on air - thus the mish mash that was season 7B - so, perhaps these were indeed the original plans of the producers who scrambled to retool the show once again mid way through season 7.

As horrible as it may at first sound, perhaps the proposed idea of Steven finding comfort in religion after being turned down by Sammy Jo and falling for Leslie, now an evangelist out to scam her father out of his fortune as revenge for abandoning her, could have worked better than the poor storyline he and Sammy Jo actually got?

He wouldn't have been the first gay man to get caught up in religious hogwash and question his ways. As icky as any of that "pray the gay away" stuff can be, perhaps this could've been a compelling story for the character at the end of which he could've once and for all come to terms with himself and find happiness with a man in season 8 prior to leaving the show in season 9.

I think it at least makes Leslie come across more interesting than the bland stock character she ended up being on screen.

As for seeing Krystle and Alexis dressed in jeans, I suppose that turned out to be Alexis' end-of-season hotdogs & motorcycles to fake Kenny Loggins' soundtrack travesty. So, now you know what kind of line of thinking (or rather: not thinking) is responsible for that abomination. I did like Alexis making shepherd's pie for an amnesiac Blake, though.

It's hard to picture a relatively young woman like Leslie "saving souls". She's not charismatic/enigmatic enough. But Ben as the evil evangelist, that would have been awesome.

sometime 2005 (i guess)
I wonder how they would have changed the music and the opening credits, although i'm glad they didn't do that.
After Dallas went away from the 3way splitscreen openings, i found it very boring. Not just the show itself became boring, also the credits.
The 3waysplit was iconic, they should've never changed that.

"Krystle has always worn fancy gowns with plunging necklines even when she's just hanging around the Carrington mansion. But she'll start wearing jeans, loose-fitting tops, sweaters and slacks - items the viewers themselves can afford."

I read that and felt the urge to slap someone. I mean... Krystle has never "always" worn fancy gowns with plunging necklines when she was just hanging around the mansion (in fact, had it been up to me, her cleavage would have been in full view in 99% of her scenes; just not her maternal scenes with Krystina and the other kids). And she wore loose tops, sweaters and slacks TONS of times! Probably more than she ever wore the low-cut gowns! I don't object to the idea of Krystle wearing jeans, so long as she's wearing them for the right scene, ie, riding horses.

But yeah, such lies...

...ALL THE LIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! lol

Heh heh, but anyway, the other stuff...

Alexis and Dex remarrying? No. I was perfectly happy with them becoming friends-with-benefits in season 9.

Steven falling madly in love with Sammy Jo again? No. Big no. I'm sick of that pairing. It finished in season 2, let it stay dead, please.

Sammy Jo turning down Steven? Yes. Good for her. Move on and find a new (straight) man, Sammy Jo! XD

Steven falling for Leslie? ...No. @#$% no. There is ENOUGH incest on the show already! In fact, they filled their quota when Adam and Fallon kissed. That was all the incest the show needed (and I'm not going to delve into Jeff/Fallon/Miles). The only other incest storyline I would have tolerated would have been whether or not Clay is Ben's son or not - but only if Amanda were kept on the show, and she now faces the possibility that the man she's fallen for might be her first cousin - but it turns out he's not, thankfully. :D

Steven finding peace in religion? Actually, that could have been interesting, if handled right. I mean, after two boyfriends die and a third one moves away (I would have kept it so that Bart leaves Steven because Adam caused the former to believe that Steven betrayed him in some way), you'd think that'd have a negative affect on his psyche. So his storyline this whole season could be about coming to terms with not only who he is, but also what's happened to him... Hm, but now I'm wondering, should Steven's religious involvement stop at the end of season 7? If we kept in Matthew's return where Steven is forced to kill him, and later on a possible love-triangle between Steven, Sammy Jo and Josh the drug-addict football player (with Josh double-timing the other two), Steven might need to cling to his faith a while longer.

Leslie an evangelist out to ruin Ben? Now *that* would have been interesting to see, much better than what we originally got. I can't see her as someone who's saved a lot of lives, though. Maybe she only claims to be an evangelist, and first uses Steven as her entrance into the Carrington manor in order to get close to Ben? I've always liked the notion of Leslie screwing Ben over so he's forced to leave Denver at the end of the season.

I think Steven becoming religious and an evangelistic Leslie falling in love would have been good. It would have been certainly different, too.

I agree. Not everything has to happen "under the same roof", as it were.
I don't even see why that storyline would need a romance. Surely there are other ways/motives to influence people?

I can´t see Leslie as an evangelist, but that would be the perfect part for her "Noth & South" co-star Kirstie Alley (if she had been available then, but she wasn´t) for a "Dienasty" appearance. About the rest, it seems something out of the mind of the "Empire" writers: I imagine this plot for the 6th season of the show (if it ever goes that far) with Jamal being "cured" of her gayness by his religious brother André (who probably would be totally cuckoo by then)...

Absolutely. Krystle looked great in those early 80s dresses with cleavage. Her beauty was suffocating in those hideous late 80s buttoned-up outfits.

That's a good point. He could have come to terms with himself and ditched religion closer to his exit at the end of season 8 and left Denver with a boyfriend. Either way, Al Corley would've sold Steven's pain and suffering and turning to God for answers better.

Yes, Leslie could've been a fine crooked evangelist. Garber proved in NORTH & SOUTH she could steal the show if given the right material. And she could've played crucial part in helping Dex & Caress unearth evidence against Ben in Australia.

Yes. Linda's prettiest feature (aside from her eyes) was her cleavage. Let's be honest. lol

Hm, not only that, but take into consideration how in season 9, Sammy Jo becomes involved with a priest... Maybe Steven meets with Father Tanner in season 8? ...Well, no, that would take away from the surprise of him turning out to be a priest after she's fallen for him.

Although it would be nice if in season 8, somebody religious (a priest or a reverend or a nun or somebody along those lines) said to Steven, "It doesn't matter what your sexuality is, we are *all* sinners in need of a savior." Just to see a religious figure portrayed in a way that's sympathetic and positive, but without going against what they believe in. Just saying. :)

Oh, and considering how Leslie became close to Alexis in season 8, having her, Leslie, be the one who helps Alexis get Ben out of her life would be a good reason for it! :D

Oooh, that's a very interesting choice! I wish Kirstie had done more drama instead of all the comedy, although I liked that movie about the yuppies and the Amish.

It should be noted the article above was taken from the November 1986 issue of National Enquirer, a publication that normally needs to be taken with a grain of salt. They did however accurately spoil Blake's amnesia storyline and even said it would air in January, so they must have had a good source.

How's this? Father Tanner - played by Kevin Bernhardt or even someone else - never gets involved with Sammy Jo. He's a gay priest who himself has to come to terms with himself. As Steven turns to religion and Father Tanner's guidance, the two men help each other accept their sexuality and ultimately find love. It could've been a fine little storyline to help Steven come full circle and send him off for good in a dignified manner.

Perhaps, but I'm not entirely sold. I liked SammyJo/Tanner too much. lol :D

Wow, if these were the original plans for the re-tooled season 7 then they sound better than what eventually played out!

I would make Leslie a step/adopted daughter of Ben though, as as Ked has said plenty of times, they had done incest stories to death! I know it'll be him falling in love with yet another step-cousin but better than blood cousin.

However I'd keep Amanda for these storylines as she could become suspicious about Leslie and keep a close eye on her while everyone is welcoming her into the family, perhaps even a reformed Michael Culhane could help her as he knows she's a con artist from when he met her earlier in the decade.

I do prefer Sammy Jo rejecting Steven, then she could concentrate on making things work with Clay.

I wouldn't have Alexis remarry Dex, instead they would just decided that they better off not remarrying and remaining together as a couple.

If Leslie was to be a blood Carrington however I'd make her mother be Caress, that way she's related to both the Morrell and the Carrington families.

Agreed-- not just for the new title card (the Dallas title coming out of the exploding dam), but also for the flashes of the characters over the skyline.

Perhaps Krystle's trip to the kitchen was the real reason for Krystina's heart attack?:D
