Two episodes in and I'm enjoying the latest CW series, Riverdale. It's sort of a Pretty Little Liars/Twin Peaks mash-up set in the Archie comics universe. A nice twist at the end of the second episode is making me look forward to seeing the central mystery unfold.

For me, the stand out character is Veronica played by Camila Mendes. The actress is very compelling and absolutely gorgeous. And I can never get enough of Madchen Amick in any role. She's playing Betty's tightly wound mother. I'm finding the Archie character a bit dull so far, though. Not typically a fan of Luke Perry from 90210, but he's been pretty good in this so far.

Naturally everyone has secrets that are starting to come out as the murder mystery surrounding the death of one of Riverdale's teen citizens plays out.

Episode 3:

Betty went a little crazy and finally got interesting. Veronica continues to be the standout character. Betty and Veronica's moms got catty with each other and Betty's mom got punched. Robin Givens was back as the mayor. I think I might be starting to like Jughead a little more. Not much movement in solving the central mystery of who killed Jason, but it looks like Riverdale is about to find out Archie has been having sex with his teacher Miss Grundy. The teacher/student affair is so boring as far as secrets go and so overused. I'm more interested in secrets involving Veronica's mom and Betty's sister.

Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's such soapy fun.

My favourites are Betty and Veronica.

I love Veronica. I was finding Betty and Archie sort of boring until episode three and now I've started to find some interest in Betty. I think they were making her a little to bland and earnest to contrast with Veronica, but episode three changes that a bit.

Yes! I've been thinking that all along. I much prefer Holland Roden. I haven't really warmed to Cheryl yet, but I think there's a lot of potential with the character.

Episode 4:

I would have expected to be frustrated and bored with an episode that almost completely veers away from the central murder mystery, but I found episode four to be quite good. They've now added a new layer--the biker gang--and managed to connect them to Veronica and Hermione, Jughead, Archie's dad, and Kevin in interesting and intriguing ways. The Archie/Ms. Grundy story seems to be over for now--thankfully. I'm not sure where this leaves Archie, though, since this was his main storyline. I'm looking forward to watching Kevin's relationship with Joaquin develop. I love a good star-crossed romance--though I have no reason to expect that will be the direction it goes on this show.

Skeet Ulrich as Jughead's dad--I like it. The casting for Riverdale continues to impress me.

The lighting/ambiance of the show is so cool. I can't find a way to describe it well-- sort of dark and moody, but with splotches of bright color.

I find myself looking forward to each new chapter of the show.

The penultimate episode of the season was fantastic--answering the question of "who killed Jason" but bringing out several other questions. The confrontation between the Cooper's and Blossom's at Thornhill was the highlight of the season. The cast continues to be totally charming. Madchen Amick has been amazing as her character has been developed. I'm looking forward to the season finale and hoping they can sustain the addictive quality of the show without the central murder mystery.

The penultimate episode of the season was fantastic.

Have you seen the finale? Was it a good season ender? I haven't had time to watch it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

RIVERDALE has emerged as my favorite new series of what I wouldn't exactly call a fruitful season (just like the last lackluster season). Which is a pleasant surprise, since I wasn't originally planning on watching it at all. I barely even registered it when it was first announced.

The only other new show I've enjoyed was FX's FEUD (plus 24 and PRISON BREAK reboots, but I don't consider those new).

I didn't think I liked the season finale at first. After the excitement of episode 12, it felt a bit anti-climactic. But, I watched it again this morning and realized just how much is going on in the episode and ended up really liking it. The finale definitely lays out where they are going in season 2 and there are a couple of really exciting moments--mostly thanks to Cheryl.

I had a similar experience. Riverdale and Feud are the only two new shows that I stuck with until the end and Riverdale surprised me with how addictive it was. I'm planning on re-watching the whole season this summer.

I dunno
I couldn't find it's own thread but I'm sure one of you will point that out to me.

Anyway... I'm binging on this right now and is on 1.06 right now - I love how they for once follow the comics and let Veronica and Betty be friends; making them arch enemies would've been easier. Also, ewwww at Archie doing ms Grundy.

Riverdale season 2 is officially under way as Archie, Jughead and the gang get back together

Riverdale's ensemble cast have officially reunited for season 2.

The acclaimed teen drama will come back to screens in October this year, despite only premiering in January.

Indeed, the quick turn around means the band have had to get back together pretty sharpish and, as such, production has already started, with this picture posted by Archie Comics' official Twitter page confirming the cast and crew have come back together for a table read.

The snap was also shared on Instagram earlier today (June 21) by photo-taker Madchen Amick, who plays Alice Cooper.

Noticeably absent from the table read is Luke Perry (aka Fred Andrews), who was shot at the end of series one, so make of that what you will.

However, series regulars KJ Apa, Cami Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Marisa Nichols, Casey Cott and Madchen can all be seen in the image, as well as showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa.
