To kick off the thread, here’s stuff from Jordan Hoffman over at StarTrek.com:

1. The night in pictures: Disco’s world premiere at Hollywood’s Arclight Cinerama Dome on Tuesday, Sept 19th, 2017. (Spoiler free, but not if you click on the character links inside.)

My favourite quote of the night is from the mouth of Dr Phlox of ST: Enterprise (John Billingsley), who said: “I would have no advice to give …You just can’t know, is it a hit? Is it a flop? Just enjoy it, whatever the hell it is.”

http://www.startrek.com/article/discoverys-world-premiere

2. JH’s pick of the top 7 relationships of Disco Season 1.

http://www.startrek.com/article/one-trek-mind-discoverys-top-7-relationships

3. Mini reviews of 3 tie-in Discovery novels (ie, written in direct consultation with the producers), all set before S1’s Battle of the Binary Stars.

Article mentions a big Easter egg for S2 in one of the mini reviews so the spoiler is that it lets you know who it’s tied to without you having to crack your head much. The books are, in timeline order: Drastic Measures, Fear Itself and Desperate Hours. The books are in stores.

Feel free to add. Cheers, Zable.

Over at The Verge:

Article by Andrew Liptak: By going dark, Star Trek: Discovery freed itself to look at the future in a new way – It joins Battlestar Galactica and Stargate Universe in telling radically different stories with a familiar world.

Article by Devon Maloney: Saru is Star Trek: Discovery’s unsung hero – And the show’s casually dismissive treatment of him is wasting some terrific story opportunities.

Discovery Heads to Blu-Ray: Interview with Sonequa Martin Green; about where she was in Michael’s journey by end S1, fans, and chemistry. (Sept 12, 2018)

Q: How full a meal was season one of Discovery for you?

A: Oh, goodness. It was Thanksgiving dinner, basically. It was the appetizer, the entrée, the dessert. It was all of that.

Q: What was the biggest surprise for you in terms of making the show, and playing Michael?

A: The biggest surprise... I would say I think what was surprising to me was just how much it continued to unfold, I think. And how deep it went, and how inclusive this entire experience and community was going to be. And also just how closely we as a company, with Discovery, became a family. That was also very surprising.

Discovery Heads to Blu-Ray: Interview with Wilson Rainn; about being “the biggest sci-fi fan you could imagine”, Mudd’s costume, and his Disco S1 episodes. (Sept 19, 2018)

Q: How much of a sci-fi fan were you, and where did Star Trek fit into that?

A: I'm about the biggest sci-fi fan that you could imagine, because my dad was a science-fiction writer.

Robert G. Wilson…

So, I grew up with it. We read science-fiction all the time. I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey when, I think I was maybe four years old, and that blew my mind.

Discovery Heads to Blu-Ray: Interview with Emily Coutts; about her career, her experience so far on Disco and her upcoming projects. (Sept 26, 2018)

Q: How much did you know about Star Trek before you hooked up with the franchise via Discovery?

A: I knew people were very into it, that it was a show about imagination and about a world that I really didn't know much about, but that was really exciting for a lot of people and really important for a lot of people. But I hadn't seen much of it. My family didn't watch it. So, when I got the call I had to brush up and learn everything, and the more I learned, the more I realized how much of a magical world this is. We get to create a reality that is full of hope and full of what the future hopefully is going to look like.

Discovery Heads to Blu-Ray: Interview with Anthony Rapp; about Disco S1, his thoughts on Lt. Paul Stamets’s journey & Mr Rapp’s hopes for S2. (Oct 3, 2018)

Q: How satisfied were you with season one?

A: Oh my, goodness. I was incredibly satisfied. It was my first time being a regular on a TV show, so that was a whole crazy experience unto itself. But to be so spoiled by it being this TV show, I can't even begin to imagine anything better. So, yes, it was profoundly satisfying. I'm so proud. And I'm also really happy and excited with what is to come. It feels like everything got opened up. Everything got cracked open in season one, and now things in season two ….

This one’s a video, a review of Runaway, the 1st of the four Discovery short treks that’s already been aired in the US and Canada. I like the review because it’s thoughtful, and is neither a rant nor a rave. The spoilers are mostly in the visuals, just a bit in the review, and also found in the so-far-not-too-obnoxious comments posted on YT.

I like the S2 trailer: well packaged and it looks Section 31ish to me in part. Some YTubers think it epic. No?

A couple of videos on the 3rd of ST: Discovery's Short Treks: The Brightest Star.

First up, canon references by Everything Trek. Starts around 0.34 mark:

Observation: The odd thing is the ‘offering to be harvested’ is in line with the behaviour of the kelpian who sacrificed himself in the co-called Mirror Universe of Disco’s S1. It does seem that "the world doesn't always adhere to logic", to quote co-called Prime Universe Michael Burnam.

Next, a review by The Pensky File:
