My favourite version of this song was from the 2012 film, in fact the whole scene when this song was used was one my favourite parts of the film.

There may well be some of your favourites on the list. That is to be expected. But those that are omitted are shocking. Clearly someone on the panel had a leaning towards “Guys and Dolls” (two songs in the top 50) yet there isn’t a single entry from “South Pacific”, “Oklahoma”, “Seven Brides”, ”The Sound of Music”, “Mary Poppins” and others from the golden age of musicals, not to mention those missing from the Lloyd Webber stable. What ultimately transpired with the result announced yesterday was a vote for people’s favourite musical, and not for the songs themselves. Ergo - if you had found Phantom, The Sound of Music or Grease for example represented on the shortlisted 50, I am sure you would have seen the songs from those shows feature prominently in the top 20. We will of course never know.

From that list I would choose Somewhere from West Side Story or One Day More from Les Miserables but there are some criminal omissions from what the choice is between.

My favourite song from a musical is Tell Me It's Not True from Blood Brothers or The Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity.
Criminal pretty much sums it up. If you google most popular song from ‘Les Miserable’ you’ll find it returns the result “I dreamed a dream”. And if we are to accept frivolous songs qualify for the list e,g. “You can’t stop the beat” and “All that Jazz” both made the top 20 - can anyone seriously suggest upbeat songs from “Grease”, “Mary Poppins”, “The Sound of Music” and “My Fair Lady” would not have fared better? I love ‘Les Miserables’ but I find it a stretch how anyone in their right mind would be happy with the result last night in the absence of other songs from that very same musical.

I like the list very much actually considering some of my favorites made it. America, Beauty & The Beast, Circle of Life, Memory, The Impossible Dream and This Is Me are all great imo but I’d have to go with Over The Rainbow as my top choice
The list was - and is - a joke. This has been borne out by the subsequent show aired from the Palladium. Fan favourites including from Phantom (“Music of the Night”) were represented which were not on the list for the fans vote. Where’s the consistency? As was the case with Les Mis bagging the top two places in the fans vote, who’s to say Phantom and Grease wouldn’t have been in the running to do same if they had been given a sniff of the action?
