I can cope with spiders and mice although I'm not fond of them.

For me its snakes, I can’t even look at a picture of a snake without squirming and if one comes on the TV I avert my eyes.

I’ve held snakes to try and overcome my fear and it’s not worked. I can’t trace back to a reason for my fear, they just scare me.

Does anything scare you?

Yes - tarantulas. Although I'm a million times better than I used to be. It used to be I couldn't even look at one on tv or in a magazine without going into a blind panic and as for watching Arachnophobia or anything spider related - forget it. I walked into the window (almost through it) of a pet store recently (reptile specialists) because I was trying to avoid them with my eyes covered lol
I'm sure there's a video of me on youtube somewhere! I'm not good with spiders in general - would never hurt one but they are my biggest phobia.

In terms of phobias - that's my only one really. My mum seems to think that it's as a result of hallucinations that I experienced as a child. When I was 6, there was a brand of cough medicine on the market that caused kids to hallucinate - it was only out in the open when parents started to come forward. My mum told me that I was sitting on her knee screaming that there spiders all over her. :(

I love wee mice but my mum is absolutely terrified of them. She has had a couple of mice issues in her home and she shuts down completely and can't function. I've had to bring her to live with me a couple of times out of fear and I couldn't understand why, when recently she looked after my cats, she had them with her in the living room (as opposed to my old room where they would normally stay). Then it clicked. I had taken her dogs away for the weekend and she felt vulnerable because the mice had not long since left. It gave her comfort to have my cats in the house lol

I am exactly the same as your Mom....it's been years since I have actually had a mouse in the house but if I see them I move out too. I completely shut down and will just sit on the couch staring at all the corners in the room.

I never got a cat either because I heard that they bring the mice to you? :eck:

I think mice are cute but if I say that to her she cracks up and says 'how would you like it if there was a tarantula in your house?' A phobia is a phobia.

Yes, cats will bring mice to you but they see them as a little gift for their mommy :)

I really wish I would not let them scare me like they do. I don't even know why I have this phobia. Your Mom is right though a phobia is a phobia to the person that is going thru it.

I don't mind spiders at all unless they are crawling on me. So it's the same thing for you with them.

I think it's because I see spiders as quite hideous, with those legs but I am trying to see the beauty in them (I LOVE animals).

All my cats are indoor but they have little stuffed mice. My boy will always bring me a wee mouse and drop it at my feet. :)

No problem with spiders (as long as they stay out of my way, and preferably, not too big).
But those other little creatures like beetles, ants, wasps - it can ruin my day. In fact it can make me feel depressed, so I'd definitely call it a big issue.

Once I've spent 3 hours chasing a fly, and eventhough a fly doesn't really scare me, it had to go. As a result, those precious 3 free hours (after work) were completely ruined.
Alright, I may as well tell you the whole story: I didn't actually catch/kill the fly because after 3 hours I was completely worn out.
But lo and behold, the next morning I find the little bastard at the bottom of the stairs. Dead! Was it an accident? There was no-one else in the house at that time...I think:eek:

I had no idea so many people here were scared of @Mo Mouse!
I like mice and rats. Domestic ones, I should say. They're cute and cuddly. And I love their tiny little hands!

I am not a fan of reptiles, but I think I'd only be scared if they're actually dangerous. We only have 1 dangerous type of snake in Sweden (Viper), and I've never seen any. It's apparently quite rare to see any. (Sigh of relief).

I am more scared of wasps & horseflies --- insects that are big and bites/stings painfully. Evil insects. :r&r:

I am also scared of heights. I get dizzy and my balance turns bad. Even just standing on a chair and looking down on the floor.

My biggest fear is losing loved ones.

I hate all bugs, bees, snakes but Sharks scare me but I can watch movies with them which is weird.

Also I have a fear of drowning not a huge fan of swimming in lakes or ocean water.

I hate being to close to fire.

I'm afraid of a lot of things.

I fear car crashes although I have never been in a serious one. Also, being a victim of a crime, all snakes and heights. I can't even look at pictures of those crazy people that climb everything. :eck:

I'm not afraid of spiders I just kill them. I have a scar on my face from a spider bite I got while asleep.

A co-ordinator I know tells me that their cats do this. Cats tend to follow me about. As do squirrels. I like cats. Except for having to use cat repellent in gardens.

I don't mind rats either. I see some scurrying about on health walks. Especially the canal that happens to be next to the supermarkets and the restaurant. Not at all like the carnivorous rats in Doomwatch: Tomorrow The Rat.

Spiders don't scare me. Except for the big ones. The big ones that you can hear scuttling. Especially the big ones that jump.

Wasps. Not so much scared but if I get stung and come out in lumps. I used to hide my dad and let him kill them . I keep supplies of Raid secreted in each room. Except in the house's secret rooms, because the wasps don't know about them.

I used to be afraid of dogs, after having been attacked by one and losing a small bit of my right knee when walking home from school. So my dad used to lift me up and keep me safe from them. However, a first cousin of mine has the loveliest dogs I've met, that like nothing better than me playing with them, stroking them, sitting with them or giving them tummy rubs. But I have to take allergy relief tablets when dealing with them.

I think I used to be most scared of family narcissists. But since going Stover with them, I've had so much peace.
