Oh yes! (x 4)
At first I thought it was going to be a mammoth monologue, which seemed intriguing because I liked to hear him talk.
It was as if he was trying to understand what had happened, but it could also be the beginning of a brilliant, big fat lie. Personally, I was inclined to believe him because he was so emotional about it. That's how people behave when they've got a lot to lose.
But I didn't know if new evidence would be presented or not, they usually do in these episodes, don't they.
Not that there's anything novel about rape but it's undeniably topical and I feel they managed to cover every angle in this episode.
The "useless" hard evidence, the system being in favour of "passion" (what are the limits?) but also the psychological aftermath of the accusation itself.
And it's not just about facts, it's also very much about people.
The female attorney became a little emotional when she had to advise a potential rapist, and I sensed an unspoken unease amongst the interrogation team.
Is it even possible to be 100% impartial especially when it's so topical?
