Why not another spin off?

I like the idea of spinning off a new series following Kristin Shepherd after revealing to Sue Ellen and JR she was the one who shot JR and was pregnant with Jock's grandchild.

I like that idea a lot! That has some good possibilities. Do you have any ideas for what would happen in it? Would you have had her not have had the miscarriage so she ends up actually having Jock's grandchild?

Absolutely. I say this because I really enjoyed Mary Crosby's portrayal of Kristin and I believe there was more life to her. Instead of the miscarriage I would have allowed Kristin to have her child. This dirty secret is shared only between JR, Sue Ellen and Kristin. While I wouldn't have Kristin stay permanently in Dallas it would have been fun to see her pop up at Southfork just when JR and Sue Ellen least expect it...just to add some drama.

Although it did kind of happen...

I would have created a spin-off for Kristin, and would have killed her in every cliffhanger. Another character would say "She´s dead. You bastard!". And then, the next season, she´d be alive a la Kenny from "South Park". Such character had no right to die, was too entertaining to watch!!

I Love Louella, a sitcom about J.R.’s scatterbrained secretary and her zany schemes to make it in the oil business.

My ideal spin-off would have been a political drama beginning in 1987. It focuses on Donna's life in D.C. I liked Donna and Ray better apart and would like to see a show about her making it without him. Donna and Andrew do marry, but it does not last. Donna eventually finds true love in another man and has more children with him. Over the course of several seasons, Donna eventually becomes the first female president. The cast of Dallas and even Falcon Crest (to tie the shows together) would make appearances over the years. Who knows, maybe Donna and Richard Channing wind up together. Donna was a lot like Maggie IMO, and I can see Richard leaving Lauren for her in the early 90s.

If anyone, it should have been Lucy or Donna - however, Bobby's own spin-off would have prevented the disastrous dream.

There doesn't seem to be much rationale for why there was no other spin-offs, except maybe the fear that the loss of one character would start a domino-effect and ruin the formula of what was (for the most part) a perfect show.

I once read that during the very development stages of Flamingo Road that it was to have been a spin off of both Dallas and Knots Landing, in which from Dallas, Cliff Barnes was to have moved there, while Annie Fairgate and a nephew of Sid Fairgate were to come from Knots.
Really?

We could consider her Knots Landing appearance a kind of pilot for that. I wonder what her next stop was. Eventually of course she met Jeff Faraday but a lot could have happened to her between those two points.

What about Ms Ellie marrying Clayton Farlow but them living at Southern Cross. Maybe the show could have been split into two.

Dallas was predicated on the idea that Southfork meant more to Miss Ellie than anything else in the world, except possibly her sons, and nothing would ever get her to move.

But she did move in a sense when she “gave” it to Bobby to travel. Not that I agree with that writing making any sense.

The best spin off was Phallus, when it ran on here a few years ago.

Just a pity the entire series was wiped.

I wish we could get the thread resurrected.

Any chance of that happening? I loved reading & contributing to it. :(

Tell me about it. I don’t remember it.

It was like an online fan fiction from many of the members of the Forum.

I think it started up not long after the Cyntax Dallas was cancelled. As it picked up some of the storylines from it.

It was quite OTT but very funny & a bit risque too. Christopher Ewing ended up dating his half brother Lucas Ewing!

You maybe wouldn't have liked it, Wes Parmalee came back & really was Jock Ewing.

Honey Boo Boo was in it too! Miss Piggy played a recast Pamela Barnes Ewing for a while before Victoria Principal came back!! It was quite hilarious!! :)

I think it's's in poor taste and disrespectful to a show so well respected and loved to bring it down to the level of a name that sounds like a pornography parody of it. I take a dim view of pornography.

I think the spin-off character(s) should be important or interesting enough, but not so important that the parent show would suffer from its absense.
Lots of funny ideas here, but The Donna Krebbs Show is the only one that makes sense to me.

"Donna Knows Best" - every week she tells people how to think properly and explains why she is an authority in everything.

Donna: "Ray,you can't help JR and Bobby hide assets from Cliff and Jamie - that is wrong! You don't understand: This is a laaaawwsuit, with la wwwwwyers"

(Ray returns from court having won the suit Cliff and Jami brought on them)

Donna: I bet you're excited to get back to your proper station in life, I mean get back to ranching!
