Okay thanks, i don't know how to make gif files but it sounds a lot of fun to make them, i don't know if my pc has the right tools to make themm i'll have too look in at that.

I don’t make them they are just there, it’s like a gif search engine. I don’t know how to make them either. That’s above my pay grade lol

My feather hat theme continues.

For the last few weeks it's been Elizabeth Bligh:

As of yesterday Prudence Swanson is giving her best fixed smile:

I love this picture. She looks like she's stepped out from a Cluedo board. And since my first watch of A Place To Call Home has come to an end, the sombre colours seemed appropriate.

I had to look this up, a place to call home it’s on acorn tv could be interesting.

It's an excellent series. If you do take the leap, I hope you enjoy it.

;) We've been chatting about it lots over in this thread if you like it enough to want to discuss.

My midwinter theme is its usual Narnian.

For my avatar I've got the White Witch Jadis in her sleigh, arriving to terrify Edmund:

While my siggy has the Pevensie children arriving at the Beavers' home:

And my profile banner has Lucy by the lamppost.

In my current avatar, Dolly from dinnerladies has just discovered her cup of tea was laced with Viagra:

What will happen when it gets down there and finds there's nothing to pump up? It'll be like a Range Rover going top speed into a cul de sac.

I guess circular is okay, you can see all of someone's face though it does block some of the background. I call my avatar "Kal", it's a morphed image combining Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill. On some other platforms I go by the name Danny Carrington with a morphed image that combines Al Corley, Heather Locklear, John Forsythe and Rock Hudson; I might use it here sometime. I also go by the name Allan Sherwood (you get a gold star if you get the reference without using Google), for that I use an avatar that has nothing to do with the name, instead I use a caricature of myself I created on the South Park site.

This is Danny:

and this is Allan:

I find with the circular we have to be a bit more creative. Because it's coming from a square image, I have to think about how it will look without the corners. I'm quite enjoying the challenge.

Oh wow. I hadn't noticed that. At a glance, I'd just assumed it was Christopher Reeve, but I can see the other two now. That's really clever.

Oh, very nice. I can definitely see the Rock Hudson features. It almost looks like it could be from a Nineties made for TV biopic about Rock's life.

I also go by the name Allan Sherwood (you get a gold star if you get the reference without using Google), for that I use an avatar that has nothing to do with the name, instead I use a caricature of myself I created on the South Park site.

That's really cute. I love a good caricature.

(And I had to Google Allan Sherwood).

My two most recent avatars have paid tributes to a pair of Scream Queens: leading ladies in horrors, whose characters were both
shockingly killed off early in their respective films
.

My previous avatar was Psycho's Janet Leigh, as Marion Crane gets an unpleasant surprise in the shower. Drawn by Disney artist Lorelay Bove:

In my current avatar, Scream's Casey Becker - played by Drew Barrymore - is being terrorised by an unknown caller. All in the style of Roy Lichtenstein:

I did play around with different quotes in the speech bubble but by the time it was cropped to fit the circular avatar nothing really fitted so I've blanked it out instead.

My current avatar is the cover of Silver Screen magazine from October 1948 which featured Jane Wyman in a Halloween photoshoot.

That's gorgeous. I really like the autumn colours, the mid-century feel and the sense of fun. It's great to see the context as well. I wonder what Gable was speaking out about.

I'm impressed, too, that you managed to find (or create) a textless version for your avatar.

Yes, it's a fun photo which was very much the screen persona of Jane Wyman at the time, a far cry from the villain she became in Falcon Crest.

I reckon Clark Gable was just promoting a film he starred in and the magazine publisher were just trying to tease the readers that he might be saying something controversial or salacious.

I found this black and white version of the photo which I colourised.

It's always good to see these different sides, I think. I wonder if any longtime fans found it strange for her to be playing a more villainous role.

You're probably right. Looking at his filmography it would probably be to promote the then-upcoming Command Decision.

That's really impressive. I'd love to be able to do that kind of thing, but wouldn't know where to begin with colourising a black and white image. It probably doesn't help that I mostly use online apps for picture adjustments, and they're probably very limited in what you can do.

I found the casting really strange at first because I couldn't imagine her playing a villain. I was a fan of her work ever since I saw her in the film Johnny Belinda in which she played a wholesome deaf and dumb woman who is raped. I subsequently saw around 5 more films with her and she generally played light comedy or the friend/partner to someone who was in trouble and needs her help. She was a far more versatile actress than I imagined.
