Lucy's acting, that was a funny thing.

Most of the crew were top notch. Susan Howards and Ken Kerchev or how ever you spell Cliffs name stood out as excellent for me. Larry was really good too. Oh yeah, Barbara Bell was awesome as well.

It seemed that at every barbecue many of the characters lost their inhibitions or sense of reason and acted inappropriately. JR and Sue Ellen got drunk in the mini-series' barbecue, which led to Pam's miscarriage and Sue Ellen complaining about her life to a group of old biddies, Holly kissed Bobby and not so subtly made a pass at him at another, followed by Cliff and the cartel acting like a lynch mob when they confronted JR. Then there's the barbecue where Marilee dances with JR and is seducing him in front of everyone, then Jamie pushes Marilee into the pool after having words with her. The barbecues were certainly entertaining, but hardly anyone acted discreetly!

Well, except for Wes Parmalee. We never did find out what he said to Miss Ellie. She says he told her he wasn't Jock but you can't take that at face value especially when you're in lieu of of all the facts. The polygraph and the X rays. He still could've been Jock after all with the ambiguous resolution to the storyline. I still believe he really was Jock all along. :)

1. The whole family living in that tiny little house is strange which is like a small apartment complex if you think about it.
2. Nobody ever parked their car in the little 3 car garage but would rather let it sit outside and bake in the sun all day.
3. The whole fam every night sitting around drinking and picking on each other before dinner is nice :eck:
4. Everyone is up eating breakfast and leaving for school or work at the same time. If I was a millionaire, I'd be sleeping in.
5. A multimillion dollar family should be able to afford a larger swimming pool, don't you think?
6. No matter who or where, the family members always find front row parking spot right in front of where they were going.
7. It's amazing how much drinking is going on in almost every scene. No wonder they're having problems.
8. Everyone wants a Bourbon and Branch or a club soda, and never anything else, what's up with that?
9. Cliff Barnes. If he is a hot shot lawyer, why does he live in some crappy little apartment?
10. Miss Ellie doesn't drive but has to bum rides off everyone around there. Why don't they have a limo or something?

Thank you, that will be all.

Along with #3, they have a fully stocked bar set up in such a tantalizing manner, yet Sue Ellen has a SERIOUS alcohol problem, their son Gary has a SERIOUS alcohol addiction, and his daughter Lucy has had problems with drugs and gotten drunk at least once. Never has anyone mentioned that maybe they should be a bit more low key with the liquor in their house. Only once did JR have Teresa lock up all the liquor, and Sue Ellen still found a bottle. They must have a lot of alcohol at South Fork.

I'm always a bit amused when I see this guy pop up (it happens several times, at least 8 or so). Was he a crew member? Sure looks like him in the back row of an early cast/crew photo.

I took him as Jock's fifth son that was never revealed. :p If only Jock had lived a few years longer to tell the truth of another half-breed Ewing. :bubble:

I bought season 1-7 and am now watching season 4. So Sue Ellen is standing around in jail wearing a snazzy white and black designer dress.

Isn't that sort of odd? shouldn't she be in an orange jump suit pounding out license plates or something?

Yeah, what's with that? They had these snazzy grey jump suits in Dallas by 1991, Michelle Stevens knows. ;) Lipstick was still okay. :hide:

Timing mis-cues were common.

I forget the scene, but I think it was Bobby who stopped talking and turned and toward the phone a split second before it rang ...

Another one was when reporters surrounded JR and Bobby firing off questions. One reporter says into his mic; Mr. Ewing uhhh ... and then turns the mic to JR who says, "I'm sorry, no more questions at this time'

What kind of question is Mr Ewing uhhh ?

one of them high rises down in Venezuela
I like how Tom Owens sudddenly vanishes after throwing the first punch, a split second before Jock returns fire in this classic scene from The Dove Hunt

(at about the 1:16 mark… a bit later note our blond mustachioed friend behind the bar taking in the action. Also the music sounds like a cross between something from the 60s Batman series and a 70s cop show)

Start of season 5: Why on earth would Bobby take a crappy budget cab all the way to Abilene to pick up JRs son from Pam? They have a private jet. He has a 450SL Mercedes. But NoooooOOoo he'd rather ride in the back of a Ford Fairmont Futura hours on the road for some weird reason. :headexplodes: Maybe Ford's rear seats on their budget cars are really super comfy?? Same with 12 million dollar Donna Crebs ... she takes a crappy Ford Fairmont cab from the airport on home.
Now if you you are that rich and wearing probably realllly expensive clothes, why would you ever want to ride in a grubby low end cab that would probably self destruct if you hit an Armadillo or something like that on the highway?

This was the guy who assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

It wasn't Lee Harvey Oswald at all. ;)

The lawyer handling Sue Ellen's divorce was terrible! He had a lot of hair though ... but anyway I think it was the pre trial, he just walks up to the judge and hands him some documents. :eck: Aren't you supposed to say ' May I approach the bench, judge?' :(

And then just before the trial, JR approaches Sue Ellen and wants to talk with her privately ... and the lawyer lets him allowing JR to badger and threaten her which freaks her out. What should have happened is Sue Ellen's lawyer should have had JR speak through him, that's what a good lawyer does. Of course the press and all the cameras seem to stay totally out of the way and JR and Sue Ellen's private little area within the crowd which we know would never happen.

Finally, when Dusty rides his first post accident rodeo and is surrounded by his fans, Sue Ellen pulls him away to have a teary one on one discussion of the future and they talk for a few minutes and then this whole gang of fans suddenly approach like a mob and grabs Dusty again while ignoring they were speaking to each other in private. Now would that ever really happen? I don't think so.

And Finally, lastly for real this time: I don't know anything about construction or building anything, so how could Ray Krebbs, a ranch hand and lover of the land not know to have a giant piece of land surveyed before buying it? I mean, you pretty much don't want to buy in a flood zone or place where the soil isn't stable, even I know that. He should feel bad about it, c'mon Ray, and what's the problem with telling your wife???? The worst she would do is dump you.

Sorry I sort of find things wrong with plots all the time, It's still entertainment but sometimes Hollywood and the real world aren't sync'd up too well.

Ok, I might have covered this one but will elaborate further...

So I lived in Dallas and even with the dark as possible tinted windows cracked open and a sun shade in the front windshield (protecting the dash from cracking or warping) you will burn yourself on stuff inside that car, especially dark leather and anything metal until you get that AC going. Driving a convertible in the middle of the day is just pure torture.

So why would you park a Mercedes 450SL, or a black Porsche SC targa out in the open sun while running around and especially at home in your own driveway when you have a nice 3 car garage that doesn't seem to ever be used?? Can someone explain that one to me? :ms:

No. It’s Sue Ellen. She doesn’t do orange jump suits and she was in the drunk tank not being charged for murder.

Miss Ellie drives a white Volkswagen.

I noticed him too, and another time at the airport. That blond hair stands out. I'm betting they had maybe a small crew of regulars to fill in certain crowd scenes.
