Hey, that's me!
I pretty much knew the direction the show was going to take once it landed on The CW - complaining that it isn't a HBO like re-imagining of the show is rather pointless (but hey, you have Succession for that!). It is what it is what is. Realistically, there's not a lot of other outlets that would take on a Dynasty reboot (look at the lacklustre interest for other 80s prime time soaps that isn't Dallas), much less make it run for 5 seasons and 100+ episodes. So by all accounts, it was a successful business venture at the very least.I've enjoyed the show. Could it have been different? Of course. Could it have been better? Probably. But as @Brian Kinney says, I accepted it as it is, which made it a lot easier to find things to enjoy. I just didn't set the bar very high, I guess. There were things to criticize, of course (it's a TV show, after all) but I don't think it's very helpful (or entertaining to the reader) to keep bringing up the same criticisms over and over if you've gotten your point across already.
Actually, it's already been done.Realistically, there's not a lot of other outlets that would take on a Dynasty reboot
I think Lee Daniels himself even said that he used elements of original Dynasty in Empire.Actually, it's already been done.

Yes, that's indeed a problem and Mackay's name was listed as Steven already three episodes ago. Probably done by one of Reddit's Steven-Maniacs (they're lurking around here too and copy and paste @Daniel Avery's recaps). The IMDb entry was deleted after the episode aired.Anyone can edit the IMDB page so I'll believe it when I see it lol.
It was said at the time that A-BC was suffering from physical exhaustion, having done several telenovelas in a row, then taking on the role in Dynasty with no break in between. I'm guessing the schedule was just too punishing on her emotional and physical health because she asked to be released from her contract after completing S2, and the show agreed. They obviously did not have to---they could have just held her to her contract and hoped she would get rested-up and feeling better during the hiatus--but they let her go, which tells me they must have seen first-hand that she was in a major struggle. I'm sure they did not take the situation lightly, given they'd just 'replaced Cristal' the year before and had to know another Cristal recast would make them a laughing stock (which...I guess it did), but the actress's health was obviously more important than any of that stuff. They would not have let her quit if it had not been something serious. Was Ana Brenda fired or did she leave on her own.
I always thought actors were hired for a 2 season. deal but I guess those two were only contracted for 22 eps
