Different character names on DYNASTY?

Won't be here long as my monitor keeps going dark (but it's not the monitor's fault, as it turns out).

Whose characters' names would you like changed on DYNASTY?

I don't have many of those, but a few:

Bart Fallmont would be recast with two less nerdy actors and called "Fox" (with no tip o' the chapeau to Murdoch).

I like Emma Samms, but I'd never cast her as Fallon. She could be a Colby/Fallmont hybrid named "Emerald" and called "Emma."

Who would we call "Foch"? Or "Foche"?

I'd like to rename Connie something like "Ruby" (Stanwyck's real first name).

I want Prince Michael to have a different name. Someone once suggested "Konstantine."

Others?

Definitely change Kirby's name. I know its been discussed that her name should have been "Lillian" or something with "lily" in it, but that never seemed right to me. For a while I liked the idea of her being named "Marnie" since unlike "Kirby", that's an actual girl name.

Perhaps Joseph would be snobbish enough to give his daughter a European name, but not classy enough to pick the right one. The result would be a kitsch name like Sisi (aka Empress Elisabeth of Austria). Sisi (or Sissi) is a good name for Dynasty.

I agree with UnPrincipaled, an average name like "Michael" is not the best choice for a prince. Everyone could be a "Michael", not everyone could be a prince.
At the very least they could have called him "Mikael" (pronounced as Mi-ka-el). Or any other name from the BelAmi catalogue.

I used to feel the same about De Vilbis - I wanted him to be Otto, Maximilian or Christian - but De Vilbis is already such a fabulous name that I don't think it needs more emphasis. It works very well with a name like Peter or Paul.
Or it should be *completely* over the top: Lucifer or Vladimir.

I've always struggled with Ellen Carrington because there were already two Ellens on Dallas. If it had to be simple, then rather Emma, Gayle or Rose.

And of course there's my precious imaginary Dynasty spin-off character, the most evil and dangerous vixen in the world:

That reminds me too much of Prissy from "Gone with the Wind" and of Sissy from "Went with the Wind." They based the character of Kirby off of Sabrina, they could have gone with a name similar to that. Maybe something like "Vanessa."

Yeah... plus there was already a Michael on the show, the chauffeur. I'm just not sold on "Konstantine"... then again, considering what the character was like, perhaps he deserves a nickname like "Prince Konnie." Or "Princess Konnie." :lmao:

Oh, "Maximilian"! That could have been the Moldavian Prince's name. :) Heh heh, but my vote goes to "Lucifer" for De Vilbis. Or, if you want to be more subtle, perhaps "Lucius."

I've always struggled with Ellen Carrington because there were already two Ellens on Dallas. If it had to be simple, then rather Emma, Gayle or Rose.

If only they remembered Fallon's line in season 3, "My name's not 'darling'. It's Fallon. It was my father's mother's name. Now its my name."

Prince Michael is the obvious one since it's not even a common European spelling - and yes, change it at least to Mikael. I was the one who suggested Konstantin once upon a time. Just something that sounds less... white trash? And more romantic. I guess you could go for "Michél" too.

I guess it's just my annoyance that traditionally, "ch" usually makes a "schh" sound here, while they pronounced "Michael" with a hard "k".

I like Lilliana for Kirby.

I'm still on the fence about her having a name with "Lily" in it, since it doesn't seem to really suit her. However, a few people around here seem to like that kind of name for her, so, meh. :) Heh, its certainly better than her original name! Though I'm becoming more and more fond of "Vanessa" now.

I'm growing towards Michél - just imagine Alexis mocking him!

Oh... Michelle, is it?
No Michél.
*Alexis takes a sip of champagne - this detail is important*
Same difference.

This amuses me.

Yes, Joseph should've picked something that an American might find European - or internationally sensible - yet oh-so-white-trash.

"Tommie" is actually white trash in Swedish. My parents first thought about Tommy but then thought my name should feel more "international". And they picked a more white trash spelling.

It is what Joseph's daughter should be named. Something that he thinks is high class but really isn't.

Sofia instead of Kirby - yeah, ironically Joseph decided to name his daughter after Sophia Loren, but to add a personal touch he decided to spell it Sofia.
