There are quite a few posters over the years who left the pasture and each of them made terrific contributions:

Frankie.
Afton.
Danny James.
Knots Man, with his 'Fantasy Knots Landing' web series.
Luke.
Jock, who sadly died and was the first person to welcome me to the DALLAS forum over 20 years ago.
Karen MacKenzie. A very pleasant 'Sea View Circle' fanatic who I regularly chatted with in #E_O, back in the days of yore.
Anti-Krebbs.
Abbyisfc an ardent Abby Dalton fan.

And finally,

Pamela, a real stalwart and original who did a mountain of forum work. She kept the wheels turning.

PS Glad to know that MInx is well in Canada
I also met up with a poster called Jill who lived in Scotland, she came to my house, and saw my rather large Dallas collection, She liked Larry and Ken K - kind of lost touch with her as someone in the family was ill

From recollection Jock's real name was Steve. I remember his wife or partner was a recurring member and that is how we heard the bad news.

I miss a lot of the posters that others have already mentioned although I do keep in contact with several of them on facebook. The most obvious one is KassidyKatherine who was one of my best friends some 10-15 years ago. She even visited me in Sweden.

Another close friend who did sign up again after the forum crash that I also keep in contact with is @Ray's Lady

Miss Texas73 is another friend I still see on facebook. Sadly she never returned after the crash. Same thing with Bobby's Angel.

@Karin Schill

I am still here checking my threads but with all of the medication I take, I literally fall asleep with the phone in my hand at times

Time immemorial
the gregarious SunshineboyUK, who I believe has sadly passed away.
Well, he retweeted a story about a cat stuck on top of a train yesterday so hopefully that means you're mistaken!

I miss @Jessie, though I´m in contact with her through Facebook. She´s one of the most loyal readers of my fanfic "Ewing Empire", along with @Karin Schill, of course...

As much as we would like to imagine soap-operatic departures, complete with flaring nostrils and slapped faces, most people just sort of "fade away". Other things in their lives pull at their free time, leading to fewer and fewer postings. Eventually they might realize they need to devote their free time to other things, or maybe they simply lost "free time" entirely. "Real life" just has a way of creeping in.

oh i know that, there's a site i belong to that i've been there since (2008) and that's a site that i pay more attention to who's left and there was at least 1 person that died that i considered a dear friend she sadly died of cancer a couple years back. my point is sometimes it's not real life but they pass away that's not to say everyone on that list is gone i doubt that. it's just sad when you don't see them anymore that's all

It's sort of awkward when sites like these have members who pass away. Members read so many other postings and it might be weeks, even months before you realize you haven't seen a certain name in the mix. More often than not, the site moderators don't learn of the death. But when they do, it's the sort of bad news that is difficult to bring up in conversation.

The most clever way I've seen it handled had their user name display in italics, and their "status" (the sub-title under their name) changed to "Eternal Member". It's often the only indication to the group that the member has passed away, since they're obviously not going to be sharing the news personally.
