I love everything seventies but I have a particular curiosity for the way the porn industry developed.
The (non-explicit) footage used in this documentary is mouthwatering and I'm feeling a bit jealous because I wasn't part of it.
At the same time it's drenched in sadness because of all those beautiful men who have died during or after that other big pandemic.
But it's mostly about the triumphs and trials and tribulations of a porn tycoon.
Where's the smash hit TV series based on the Falcon legacy? It's practically begging to be made.

I think I'm going to buy the entire ASPEN series, not for the porn (although I can't promise I will skip those scenes) but for its immense sleaze and cult value.
One could watch it as a gay porn soap opera with bad storylines and even worse acting, counterbalanced by a unique setting and atmosphere.

Eric Hansen, my porn crush of the 90s.

It's strange that this video was one of youtube's first suggestions after I had discussed a related subject on this forum only two hours ago (and we didn't use any links or anything).

He looks s little like Luke Fuller (or, as they call him the business, "Lick Feeler").

I once randomly clicked on a YT video of a couple living in a van, and spent months watching #vanlife videos after. I can't even imagine what rabbit hole I would fall down if I clicked this video,

i'm straight but it kinda has always baffled me why the gay porn industry pays more than the straight porn ? i don't care which kind you like as i don't care who is gay or who is straight. but regardless of if you prefer both genders or one or both we all can agree on that back in the day we would hear porn titles and just laugh our asses off cause they had such creative and really funny titles.

& Willie who are you kidding you will have those scenes on a loop from when you wake up in the morning until you go to bed lol

At first glance I would have thought the higher pay for gay porn (at least prior to about 2005 or 2008) would have been a consequence of AIDS, since such work could get you infected with a deadly disease. Another likely reason is the "career killer" aspect, since appearing in gay porn pretty much excludes a "performer" from ever shifting into "legitimate" acting, or even shifting into more mainstream jobs. The internet makes it pretty much impossible to bury your past. They have to earn more money in a shorter time period because after they "retire" from the porn industry, their career options will be severely limited. I went to college with a guy who 'detoured' from his career as a PE teacher and coach into gay porn films in the 1990s. When the school system found out about his other work, they fired him and I'm pretty sure the state of Virginia revoked his teaching license. What seemed to have been a side gig ended up ruining the career he had gone to college for, and of course the newspaper coverage didn't help.

In the "regular" modeling industry it's the women who make the most money because most of the stuff they model (clothing, etc.) is geared to women consumers. The vast majority of porn (gay or straight) is geared to men, so the people who make the most money are straight women and gay men, since straight men want to see straight women having sex, and of course gay men want to see other gay men having sex.

there are a handful of porn stars as the term is called i dunno why they are called stars when they normally aren't all over the place like a real star is like say Robert Downey Jr. for example is though i wouldn't be surprised if gay men would love to see him in a gay porn lol. i can't fault them for that either lol anyways, one of the handful i have heard of is Peter North he apparently started out in Gay porn and even directed some apparently he also was doing straight as well. and i've always heard they pay more yes there's a chance of Aids and back in the 80's it was more likely at least well you can figure the rest out me saying that makes me sound like an idiot

i think. but there have been more than once through the years when both genders were talking about doing both gay and straight porn where they've said they've done gay porn not cause they are gay but because it was damn good money. good for them i guess? on being able to do that but i never could i'm not gay nor bi but i've got nothing against anyone who is. if you are a teacher and they find out you do porn yeah i can see you getting fired, for example Ron Jeremy still has his teaching license and last i heard it was still usable if he ever decided to use it, but as he said about it what parent would want me teach their kids? and he's right on that however

apparently that didn't stop him thinking he could f... anything that moves weather they were legal or not last count he had like 32 women have sexual assault against him and i think some of them are under age too. how f... up is that? i don't know enough to know how many though nor have i really looked it up either but i'm sure that will be an easy google. lol but as comment i read somewhere i forget where said Ron Jeremy is one ugly bastard even when he was young why would anyone want to ..... him? well we know why but they are right i think. he is one ugly bastard even when he was young anyways, i can see a school weather it's a college or a high school pick any grade level that has to do with school i get why they would fire that person.

Coincidentally, at around the time I joined Tellytalk (before it was called that) I received a "legit" porn offer. In my younger days (although even then I wasn't really all that young) I had the requisite look and attributes. I almost considered it, on a lark. But when I was supposed to show up for the shoot, I suddenly came down with a pronounced summer cold which I interpreted to be markedly psychosomatic. So I guess I left them hanging.

Somehow, something deep inside me just wasn't quite trashy enough.

Today, of course, you just tape it yourself and put it on your instagramFB/TikTok/onlyfans page and nobody cares.

I did the exact same thing, and I had guilt over the time I spent watching them just living in a van.

We spoke of how being in porn could almost certainly be a career killer if you wanted to be a "legitimate actor", but I am reminded of the curious case of Dennis Parker, who played Chief of Police Derek Mallory in the final four years of Edge of Night (roughly 1980-84). EON was a crime-heavy soap, and the Chief of Police was a pivotal role since he (or she) would drive much of the investigations. They'd had another Police Chief character for over 20 years, but the actor was too old to be chasing bad guys, etc. so their soap town had to hire a new, young and energetic Chief. Parker played the role like your typical Police Chief, and even had a handful of romantic entanglements on the side, allowing him to be a romantic leading man, too. The issue was that Dennis Parker had worked in much of the late-1970s as a porn actor (gay and straight) named Wade Nichols. I've been trying to find out (unsuccessfully) whether or not Procter and Gamble, the production company, knew of his "unique resume" when they hired him. I mean, it was 1980 and porn films were not seen anywhere outside of porn theaters....but one would think P&G would do their research when hiring for any role, much less one that would be so important. I'm dying to know if this was P&G trying to be "progressive" or if he managed to keep it all a secret until he got the contract signed.

Porn actor or not, he was really good in the part, so the show benefitted from his being there. Unfortunately, his past caught up with him in a different way, as he developed AIDS in 1984 and wasn't able to appear in the final few months of EON. The went off the air in December 1984 and he killed himself a month or two after that.

check out one Porn actor named Robert Kerman i think his name is? i can't remember if that is his porn name or his real name. but he was in Debbie Does Dallas (1978)
my source? The Cinema Snob did a snob episode if you can find it on you tube they don't show the porn scenes but you will get plenty of laughs anyways he did some legit roles like Cannibal Holocaust (1980) for example which is the 1st found footage film more or less not all of it is shot that way but a vast majority it is though is not a film a lot of today's youth that just knows today's horror knows about i'm sure. some do i'm sure but there's plenty i'm sure that do not anyways.

he was making films in i think Europe i want to say? or someplace that wasn't the US and using his real name he was still doing porn in the states i think or maybe he had quit i can't remember. but when they found out cause he did do a couple films over there once they found out he was forced to go back to do porn cause that killed his career though funny enough years later he apparently has a role in Spider Man (2002) in a bit role i think? i have no idea where he is in the film i haven't watched that one in f... ages. but there's another one also did anyone know that Ron Jeremy was in Ghostbusters (1984) ? i didn't until a couple years ago

i was watching a James Rolfe Video aka the AVGN video i think it was? where he pointed it out in a video it's right when the firehouse goes up and lets all the ghosts out and the camera has a shot of everyone in front of the building the cast too and right in front of it no dialog is Ron f.. Jeremy i had no idea he was even in the damn thing and i cannot tell you how many times iv'e seen that film!
