Well, hello! It's been a while. It seems I took a little unexpected and unintentional break from here for a while. It's been a strange and stressful couple of years and the last year has been pretty trying for me. I'd been battling a bit of depression since my mum passed away in Feb last year, I went back to work and all that, got on with things but just became less and less interested in the things I once was interested in. I found it hard to watch and stick to shows and was even less enthusiastic about posting about them. I decided last summer that I needed a kick up the backside to pull me out of things and so I went on holiday and then that became another holiday and another holiday and you get the picture. Then that made me realise that I was just running away from things, filling my life with plans just so I wouldn't face reality. I had also been drinking a whole lot more than normal. If it wasn't on holiday it was going out for dinner with friends. And so finally, I am done. Travelled out! I am not planning any trips or travelling for the foreseeable future. I don't want to see the inside of an airport for a long while.

I am grounding myself, hopefully finishing the last bits of building work in my house once and for all and getting on with settling in and accepting what's gone and what's now. I am guessing there is quite a bit I have missed here. I don't think I even posted about House of the Dragon or some of the shows I did manage to finish or watch. Most things I watched tended to be shorter run series. I think I also need to be discussing some new music releases too.

Anyways I am back, and I would think, be here much more regularly again.
Let the waffling commence!

The loss of a parent can be very, very tough on some people -- and nobody ever really talks about it, presumably because it seems like a "normal" changing of the guard. But it can be very difficult, even when it happens at the expected age.

Who was that popular designer a few years ago who committed suicide after his mother died -- Alexander McQueen? So it's not always an easy thing to handle.

Hope you're okay -- and we're glad you're back!

Nice to have you back @Alexis.

You never get over losing a parent but it does get easier to deal with the loss. A wise old sage called Pamela Ewing once said "The important thing is to live each day to the fullest and as long as you do they'll be the happiest days of your life" and although it may not seem like that right now, she (or more accurately, whoever wrote that line for her) was making a good point.

Your absence did not go unnoticed.

But let's face it, you're a soapaholic. You can deny it for as long as you like while sipping champagne on a yacht in the Maldives surrounded by tanned and very willing young men in white speedos, eventually you'd realise it's much more fun to watch this happening to fictional soap characters.

Welcome back, though did you ever leave?
Well I would normally be logged in here every day, and post or read very often. Then that just fizzled out and I wasn't even logged in anymore. It's like the Hotel California, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Not really.

I had just checked to where I had last left off with Crossroads. I see that the last disc I was watching was disc 5, I haven't popped it in yet to see where that even left me off and I can't remember it's been such a while. I will probably start watching more again as the nights start to get darker and it becomes a lot colder, and I will be doing less in the evenings. I will have to check in and see where you all are at in your viewing.

At the minute, I am flying through episodes of TBTB on YouTube and and nearing the end of the first year I think. Maybe I should limit my regular soap viewing this Autumn/Winter to Crossroads and The Bold and The Beautiful 1980s episodes.
Although saying that, I have seen that Channel 5 is starting to put out Prisoner Cell Block H on the 5 player from the beginning!

Thankyou for your honest and open post. So much of what you've written resonates with me.
It's great to hear you're back and hope you can once again find some enjoyment here and I sincerely hope your journey through grief becomes a little easier.

Welcome back @Alexis although I have been on and off here myself. I pop in and out.
I’m sorry the last few years have been rough ones and I hope everything is looking up for you!
