How did Angela meet Douglas Channing?

Was it ever established how Angela Gioberti first met Douglas Channing? Was anything ever established about Douglas's background or birth family (the Channings)?

In a nutshell, Douglas came from a poor background but was ambitious and worked his way up in the newspaper trade, founding The Globe with the help of a loan from Angela’s father. Douglas needing a loan, kind of contradicts an earlier quote where he told Angela “When we first met, all you saw in me was a young publisher with a bright future and lots of money.”
