I have tried a few different times (not excessively, but at least three or four different times) to get a GIF in my signature. I click on the "insert link" option, but it just lists what I've copied as a hyperlink-type deal. I've also used the "insert image" option, but it continues to tell me that the web address I've copied cannot be used as an image.

Am I copying the wrong thing from online to use as the GIF here, or am I trying to insert it here on the forum with the wrong function?

I'm doing something wrong somewhere.

You guys with GIFs in your signature, what's the secret? Bring this dummy up to speed.

You need to insert the gif as an image not a link. Click on the image icon and then either input the url to the gif or upload the gif in the same way you might upload an image.

I host my signature gifs in an external site and link to it.

It isn't working for me. I've got to be doing something wrong. It won't even let me upload a GIF as a picture to my signature.

I've just checked and I was wrong, apologies. You can't upload a gif directly to your signature. You will have to upload it to another hosting site and link back to it. I use Imgur but there are many more sites that will host images and gifs such as Tenor and Imgflip, just do a Google search on "gif hosting free". If you have a Twitter account you may be able to post it there and link back to it.

Once you upload your gif to the hosting site, copy the URL to the gif, go to the edit signature page on this site and click the image icon and paste the URL there (see image below).

Click on save and you should be good to go.

I tried using a host site and it still isn't working for me.

Perhaps I'm just not meant to have a GIF in my signature. I will try it again later when I have both the time and the desire.
