How would you save or axe Emmerdale?

I ask this question because the show has completely lost its identity that's like a different programme altogether and how Norman Bowler and Peter Amory no longer are within acting anymore.

More importantly, the name change in 1989 from Emmerdale Farm to Emmerdale played a part in the change of direction for the show with the farmhouse dispensed with eventually.

What we do know is that the name change was coincidentally to introduce The Tates, who eventually had their day and ran their course, that the Kim Tate of 2018+ is awful and worse than she was in 1989-1999, Kim is more older and bitchier now than she ever was in her original stint, not to mention the deaths departures of Frank, Chris and Zoe.

I think the name change should stay as Emmerdale as it was from Emmerdale Farm, and for a massive clearout of characters from 1989-present and bringing back as many characters from 1972-1989 as possible when the show was under its original name. It would give Eric Pollard more to do as a character, a return to origins as such and eventually retiring the show. The only other current Sugden remaining from the original family is Victoria, but even she wasn't introduced until 1994. The show as I say should just be slowly eased back to 1972-1989 with the characters in the show and eventually retired once most of the cast pass away, as Emmerdale is past its sell by date as it is and worse lost its identity, the farm and animals hardly ever feature even on the opening titles like it did until the end of 1998.

Finally, from 1989, there's only Lynn Whiteley and David Hughes still alive and well from that time, either of those characters would've been better choices to return than Kim.

I've been watching Emmerdale since about 2012. The show follows the well established soap opera formula..... which is: Dream up some contrived nonsense, throw a few unhinged plots into the mix, then finally a wave of the magic wand and you've got a soap.

I can't comment on Emmerdale Farm or the transition to Emmerdale and characters from yesteryear, as I wasn't watching then.

But what I can say is that the current cast and storylines work for me. Even Kim's insane revenge plot on cheating Will.

I'd keep Emmerdale as it is right now.
