Those two kids were always being rushed to school, sent out to play, or upstairs to wash up or go to bed. Poor things got about as much attention as a straight man marching on a Pride parade.

Almost every week we would see the Ewings gather at the breakfast table with a huge spread in front of them only to see them bucker for 5 minutes, Sue Ellen say, "Just coffee," the kids be rushed out to school, and the adults all jump up and run to work or town.

I think it became kind of a running gag after awhile. J.R. and Bobby specifically would load up their plates only to eat none of it.

Sorry if I did come across a bit as if I were trying to out you (not at all). It was an ironic reaction to your comment because, as the gay people present here know (you know who you are...), lots of gays prefer "straight" guys, even married men, above the clearly "gay" guys (if they exist, of course). Oh and I doubt your life as a gay man had been less complicated...Anyway, I wish you a happy summer.

Everybody's lives -- gay, straight or whatever -- are terribly complicated. Frankly, I have no idea how anybody gets through life (and that even includes straight, rich, white people).

I sure couldn't do it -- and yet I have. And I still have no idea how!

Little did we know at the time that adult drama at the breakfast table was the #1 cause of malnutrition among children. Studies would show this later on.

I screamed when I saw Charlie sitting in the rocking chair while Ray and Jenna argued and turned it off. I thought I was ready to watch those scenes again but I’m not.
