Is there any news on whether/when we can expect remastered episodes to become available for purchase ( à la Dallas)? I do appreciate the Plex streams but the quality, which is not helped by the terrible interlacing and the weird format, is abysmal. I thought I had read here somewhere that Warner was cleaning up the Knots epiodes, too. I note that Knots is the number one trending show on Plex so I’m sure there’s demand!

If Plex is doing great business with the episodes as they are, they're likely perfectly happy with what they have and would not be concerned enough to rock the boat with WB by demanding anything else. Plex was darn lucky to get the licensing agreement over larger, more prominent streamers.

Well, one thing doesn’t exclude the other. E.g. Dallas can be streamed with commercials on Freevee and is also available for purchase on Apple or Amazon. I’d be happy to pay for a cleaned up product and no commercials. It’s just another way for WB to monetize their IP.

I really don't believe this is the issue or only issue , it's Lisa Hartnan, not Beyonce (no offence to Lisa). They have managed to work out rights for shows going back years before VHS, DVDs or streaming, I can't believe Knots is the only show where someone sings.

It's like Knots Landing never existed, maybe we imagined it. :)
It was a dream season of Dallas? Lol

I have added knots landing on Plex to watch it. My only question since I am anew viewer. Do I have to watch early dallas seasons before knots? Is it necessary? I will eventually get to Dallas but I’m going with what’s easily accessible right now.

Probably not. I'm sure you can watch Knots in isolation and easily pick up the story. I believe @Daniel Avery hasn't watched Dallas, for instance, and it certainly hasn't impaired his enjoyment or fandom of the spinoff.

If you wanted to watch just a select few related Dallas episodes ahead of watching, I'd recommend:
  • Reunion Parts I & II (Dallas Season "Two", Episodes 1 & 2)
  • Secrets (Dallas Season "Three" Episode 4)
  • Return Engagements (Dallas Season "Three", Episode 14 - this one directly sets up the Knots Pilot which aired the following week)
Just as a caveat, all the above episodes have references to other Dallas goings on which you may consider a little spoiler-ish if you plan to watch that series later.

Thank you for the info @PsychoDrama
I will probably just watch knots on its own and I think I will be okay.
I do plan to watch dallas at some point. Not sure when though. Before I start knots landing I’m going to be watching falcon crest anyway so there plenty of time.

I would start with season 2 when Abby arrives. It will give you all the context you need regarding later stories and interactions between Abby/Karen, Abby/Gary/Karen, Abby/Gary, Val/Gary/Abby, and Abby/Val.

Skip season 1? Is it bad or something?

Season 1 is completely episodic, with no continuing stories except for the final two episodes with Gary going on an alcoholic bender. Seasons 2 and 3 also are episodic but have more linking material and are more emotional. Still, I'd recommend taking a look at the pilot episode, the Charlene Tilton episode, and the Julie Harris episode in Season 1. It's your call on the others.

So I am considering joining Amazon again so I have access to freezer or whatever it’s called and may just start Dallas and then watch dallas and knits landing concurrently. Part of me feels like this may be the best route. Probably not necessary but I suppose if I’m going to watch it the. I should watch it properly.

Wow! That is a lot of money for streaming. Or do you get to download and keep the episodes?

I think I paid around that much money for my DVD box set of the complete series. :)

I think starting with Dallas and then watching Dallas and Knots at the same time is a good idea!
you are in for a good time.

This is to purchase the series. I’m looking forward to it.

No locations?! Shouldn't it be the other way around? That this title is currently not available at your location?

That would certainly be more accurate, given that we know that it is available in some locations.
