Rodney Bewes, best known for his role as the northern working class hero Bob Ferris in The Likely Lads, has died aged 79. The Yorkshire-born actor also appeared in 1970s sequel, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?. The sitcom had one of the best theme tunes ever.

Sad news, remember watching repeats of it in the 1980s and the epiosde where they were trying to avoid the football results all day.

I remember reading that Rodney Bewes and James Bolam fell out over something trivial and that Bolam never consented to it being shown on BBC again.

I didnt realise he was 79, RIP and sympathies to his family

I was watching him in an episode of ITC's Man in a Suitcase, called The Bridge recently. Starring Richard Bradford (who passed away last year) and also featuring Bill Owen, Anthony Nicholls, Simon Williams and Jane Merrow (who I've met).
