Lucy's sense of entitlement to Peter

Just as her fiancé expires, Lucy turns her attention to a guy she barely knows -- and quickly becomes predatorily indignant when Peter Richards fails to return her interest.

Leading, eventually, to her overacted, alcohol-infused meltdown in the foyer at the Southfork party.

I mean, I've known girls like that, sure, but what the hell was wrong with her??

young Peter was too caught up in his Sue Ellen obsession to perceive his subconscious desire for his high-fashion soulmate

Wow! Lucy is channelling her inner Muriel and Peter looks a bit like a thinner Elton John!

To me this felt rushed; as though the writers had to somehow incorporate Lucy into any Ewing storyline to justify keeping the character. After Mickey's death it would have been the perfect time for Lucy to leave Dallas for a while. On numerous rewatches I like the Sue Ellen/ Peter story. Many have stated Christopher Atkins acting wasn't up to standard but I now think he plays the vulnerability beautifully as Sue Ellen leads him on.

When JR finally discovers their illicit affair you just knew this wasn't going to be a happy ending for either Sue Ellen or Peter and the restaurant scene is, well...let's just play it again as it's one of my favourite scenes...

I saw the Dream Season most recently earlier in the Year.
And I must admit didn't miss Lucy at all.
Or feel this run would be so much better with Lucy here.
I feel they wrote for her well first few Seasons then gave up a bit.
Or new Writers just didn't know what to do with her.

I thought the idea of Sue Ellen having a younger man was great. I don't think Chris Atkins was the right actor.

I'd agree. But it's been pointed out that the glaring mismatch of Sue Ellen and Peter seems somehow inevitable. The sense of mutual, ineffectual incompetence, where even they probably weren't entirely sure that they'd had sex.
