MY FOOLISH HEART
by Tracey (Crazy For Sue Ellen)

CHAPTER ONE

“Why can’t it be like that again, like it was those first years?” Sue Ellen asked, her finger caressed his lips.

“Sue Ellen, I…” Sue Ellen’s cell phone began to ring.

“I’m not answering that,” Sue Ellen said. “Tell me why our marriage can’t be like it started out?”

When JR didn’t answer, Sue Ellen pushed it further. “Did you ever love me, JR? Or, was I just a Miss Texas trophy for your shelf?” Sue Ellen asked, tears in her eyes.

JR sat up and took both of her hands in his. “Of course I loved you, Sue Ellen. I know I haven’t been the best husband, probably the worst, but I cherish the early years. I don’t know where it went wrong, or why.”

Sue Ellen broke into a sob. “You drifted away from me, JR. You started to come home at night later and later. The first time I smelled cheap perfume on you, I started to drink more heavily. I begged you to eat dinner with the family more often, and you didn’t. You left me alone wondering who you were sleeping with. The rare times you did come home, I desperately wanted you to make love to me, but you pushed me away. Months went by that you didn't touch me. I felt like a fool and…”

JR interrupted Sue Ellen “Shh..., I was the stupid one. How can I make it up to you? Please, I still love you darlin,” JR asked, his plea sincere.

Sue Ellen stood up, untied her silky robe and exposed her naked body. She sat down on the bed and said, “Prove it to me, JR. I need to feel loved, like I did in those early years.”

JR got up from the chair. He smiled as he removed his suit. Sue Ellen stretched out her hands when the last stitch of clothing was gone. He kneeled in front of her; his arms wrapped around her waist. She shivered when he caressed her. “I’m a lost soul without you. I need you, sugar.”

Sue Ellen was overcome with emotion. Her arms flung around his neck. He laid her down flat on her back. They kissed tenderly until it erupted into a slow burn.

THE NEXT MORNING

“You gave me quite a workout last night, Sue Ellen.”

“Get use to it my love,” Sue Ellen said, her hand squeezed his manhood.

JR jumped. “Whoa, Sue Ellen what’s come over you?”

“Are you complaining, darlin?”

“No, it’s just that we don’t have to make up for lost time in one or two days,” JR explained.

Sue Ellen laughed. “I’ll make you work for it tonight, JR.”

“Are you going to make me suffer?” JR asked, his eyes wide as saucers.

Sue Ellen went in-between his legs. She fondled him and said, “I’ll tease you so bad; you’ll beg me to let you in.”

“Oh Sue Ellen, you're so hot. I’m begging you now,” JR said, fully aroused.

Sue Ellen grinned. “You have no willpower do you?”

JR pulled Sue Ellen on top of him and said, “No, and I’m proud of it.”

“I wouldn’t have you any other way,” Sue Ellen said, as they reached the heights of passion.

TWO HOURS LATER

Sue Ellen shook. She listened to the voicemail message on her phone repeatedly. It was Kristen. She wanted JR to know his son was born. Sue Ellen knew how promiscuous her baby sister was. It could be anyone’s child including JR’s. Even if the child wasn’t his, the idea of him sleeping with Kristen haunted her more than any other. Afton was a close second.

A flood of memories of JR’s indiscretions went through her mind. Sue Ellen broke down and cried. She may have reconnected with JR, but how long would it take for him to go back to his old ways? She got dressed and decided to visit JR at the office.

EWING OIL

“What do I owe the pleasure, sugar?” JR said, his arms wrapped around her. She was tense. “What’s wrong, Sue Ellen?”

Sue Ellen took a deep breath, “It seems the despicable things you’ve done come back to haunt me. The phone call that I ignored yesterday was Kristen.”

JR was oblivious to the seriousness in Sue Ellen’s voice. “What does she want now?” JR asked. His mouth hung open when she told him, “She gave birth to a baby boy. A son, you have another son.”

“I doubt it’s mine, Sue Ellen. You said that it could be one of a hundred guys so who cares.” JR said, nonchalantly.

“I care you bastard!” Sue Ellen shouted.

“Why? Darlin, I love you,” JR told her. She pulled back when he got closer. “No, I’m never going to get over your affair with my sister; my baby sister, you prick!”

“Sue Ellen, it’s over with Kristen. We’re together again, and I won’t….” JR tried to explain.

“I don’t believe anything you say, JR. You told me you wouldn’t be with another woman not that long ago, and then you slept with Afton! We made love that morning. You told me how much I meant to you, so how could you just f**k her...and in our bed for Christ's sake!"

“Sue Ellen, I’m sorry. I was wrong. Afton meant nothing to me,” JR said.

“Your apology isn’t enough. I thought I could try one more time, but I’m hurt all over again. I’ll never be free of the pain you’ve caused me,” Sue Ellen said. When JR tried to comfort her, she shoved him backward.

“I loved you JR, but my heart won’t be fooled anymore,” Sue Ellen screamed and ran out of his office.

JR needs to learn that sometimes sorry isn't enough. Actually showing change is what is appreciated in the long run.

I agree. If he'd learned to say sorry a lot sooner, things would have been different.

I have an article from when Sue Ellen left Dallas, in which a relationship expert at the time pretty much testifies to that fact - that JR buried his hurt at her actions over WestStar so deep, that it was impossible for them to patch things up at that point.

CHAPTER TWO

JR sat back down at his desk. He knew it was no use chasing after Sue Ellen in her current state of mind. She’d only push him away again. He decided to just give her time to cool off, and talk to her at home.

****
Before leaving the Ewing Oil building, she gave herself time to calm down. She walked down the street to get to her car when a man in front of a limousine stopped her. “Excuse me, Mrs. Ewing?”

“Yes?” Sue Ellen said, confused. He smiled and opened up the door. Sue Ellen’s heart skipped a beat when she saw his sweet smiling face.

“Dusty!” Sue Ellen shouted.

Dusty got out of the limousine, with assistance from a cane. Sue Ellen was so excited; she leapt into his arms and almost knocked him down. “Easy baby,” Dusty explained.

“Oh Dusty, look at you—you're walking! I can’t believe it,” Sue Ellen said.

“Sue Ellen, I had another surgery before you found me. I lost hope and didn't care. After I sent you away, my yearning for you gave me a reason to get out of that chair.

"Dusty, I wish you would have told me before…" Sue Ellen stopped. She didn’t want to say anything about JR or her short-lived affair with Clint.

"Honey, can you ever forgive me?" Dusty asked.

"Dusty, my darlin, there is nothing to forgive," Sue Ellen told him.

Dusty's hand caressed Sue Ellen's face and said, “I can’t live without you. I just had to get better not just for me but for us!”

They walked back to the limousine. Sue Ellen clung to him, and they began to kiss sweetly. With her rekindled night with JR now shattered, she wanted Dusty's love more than ever.

“My sweet Dusty, don't ever question how much I love you. I'm yours forever,” Sue Ellen said.

“I promise but Sue Ellen the operation only helped me walk. I still can’t make love to you,” Dusty said, his head down.

“I don’t care, Dusty. How many times do I have to tell you that?” Sue Ellen asked.

Dusty managed a half smile. “Too many,” he said. Sue Ellen hugged him. You’re still more of a man than JR will ever be.

****

SOUTHFORK

“Where’s Sue Ellen? Her car is in the driveway but I don’t see her anywhere.” JR asked.

“Sue Ellen came home and packed an over-night bag. She asked if I could take care of John Ross so she could spend the night reminiscing and having fun with an old college friend she bumped into. She took a cab into town,” Miss Ellie said.

“Oh…um…that’s nice, Mama. It probably just slipped her mind to tell me,” JR said. His mind raced. He never let on to Sue Ellen that he knew about her affair with Clint Ogden. He wondered if she went back to him after their argument, or if she was getting drunk. Either way, he’d find out soon enough.

****

SOUTHERN CROSS RANCH

“I’m glad you’re able to join us for dinner tonight, Sue Ellen,” Clayton said.

“Thank you for having me. I’m happy to be here. You have such a beautiful ranch, Mr. Farlow,” Sue Ellen told him.

“Don’t be formal, Sue Ellen. Call me Clayton,” he said, with a smile.

Sue Ellen shook her head. “Okay, um...Clayton. I told Dusty that I’m so proud of him, and how he’s progressing, right honey?”

Dusty nodded his head. He took Sue Ellen by the hand and said, “I’m never gonna let this beautiful woman go again, Daddy.” Sue Ellen blushed and answered, “You better not.”

“I don’t blame you, Stephen. You have a very special lady. I’m glad you realize that she loves you,” Clayton said.

“I do, and I’ll never doubt it again,” Dusty responded. He kissed Sue Ellen’s cheek.

After dinner, Sue Ellen and Dusty sat by the fire. Clayton retired for the night and told Sue Ellen that whatever Dusty wanted was fine with him. He, of course, meant helping Sue Ellen in any way possible, if and when she left her husband.

“Your Father is a wonderful man, Dusty. In the short time that I’ve known him, he’s made me feel so comfortable,” Sue Ellen told him.

Dusty’s arms wrapped around her tightly and Sue Ellen inhaled his masculine scent. She felt safe momentarily in his strong and loving embrace. His hand stroked her hair. Sue Ellen pulled back enough to catch the love in Dusty’s eyes. Her lips quivered until he calmed them with a kiss.

It was an awkward moment when Sue Ellen went up to Dusty’s bedroom. She unpacked a few of her things and asked Dusty if he needed help with his clothes.

Dusty sat on the bed and said, “Can you just pull my shoes off?” Sue Ellen nodded her head and helped. Before she came out of the bathroom, she caught a glimpse of him struggling to do the simplest of tasks and got teary-eyed. My poor Dusty. I'll never leave you.

CHAPTER THREE

Sue Ellen managed to put a smile on her face when she thought back to the day she and Dusty first made love at the Regent Hotel in Ft. Worth.

~~~~
"I've wanted you to call. I missed you. I really have," Sue Ellen said. They kissed briefly until rushing into the bedroom of their suite; months of sexual desire ready to erupt.
Sue Ellen's pulse raced when they quickly took off each other's clothes. Dusty’s tongue traced the outline of her mouth. Their lips pressed together and their insides burned.
Dusty’s strong but gentle hands roamed her perfect body. “I want you,” he said and lowered Sue Ellen on the bed. The sex was passionate and Sue Ellen fell in love with her handsome cowboy.
~~~~

Sue Ellen felt a warm sensation all over. She could still feel the intensity of their lovemaking from that first night. Oh Dusty, what a wonderful lover you were.

Even though Dusty wouldn't be able to have intercourse again, it didn't diminish her love for him. Sue Ellen knew Dusty needed her, and she committed herself to him.

Sue Ellen gave Dusty a warm smile and got in bed. With her head on the pillow, Dusty caressed her face and sweetly kissed her lips. She moaned with delight when Dusty's tongue slid down from her neck to breast; her desire for him overwhelming her senses. She trembled when his hand slowly pulled up her nightgown and squirmed when his fingers played with her folds. He positioned himself in-between her legs, and took off her panties.

Sue Ellen closed her eyes and relished the oral pleasure Dusty gave her until a tidal wave of pleasure swept through her body. He planted soft kisses on her stomach and put his head on her shoulder. His left arm wrapped around her waist.

"Incredible," Sue Ellen whispered.

“Mm, I love pleasuring you, Sue Ellen,” Dusty said, and held her close.

****
SOUTHFORK

JR paced back and forth in his empty room. He was out of his mind with worry about Sue Ellen's whereabouts. Dammit, where the hell could she really be?

As JR wore out the carpet, he got a call from Harry, his favorite go to man for all his dirty work.

"Harry, what have you got for me?" JR asked.

"Proof that Kristen's baby isn't yours, JR," Harry said.

"Thank God!" JR exclaimed.

"Well, Kristen lost the baby she claimed was yours," Harry told him.

"Really? Are you sure?" JR asked.

"Positive, JR but I’m still working on finding out who the Daddy is of the baby she just gave birth to,” Harry told him.

“I don’t care as much about that but let me know when you do. Also, I want Kristen to know I’m not sending her anymore money. You handle it, and explain why,” JR said.

“I’m on it, JR and I'll show you the paperwork tomorrow. I will swing by the office, or would you rather meet me somewhere else?" Harry inquired.

"Not the office. Meet me at the Braddock Diner at 9 o'clock in the morning," JR said.

When JR hung up the phone with Harry he immediately texted Sue Ellen, hoping he would get a response.

****
Sue Ellen put on her robe and told Dusty she’d be right back. She wanted to get her phone that she left in the living room. When she looked at it, she noticed a text from JR.

I hope you are having a good time tonight, darlin. You deserve it but I miss you too much. I promise I will right all the wrongs I have done. I’m not going into the office tomorrow, so I will be here when you get home. I love you! xoxo

Sue Ellen took a deep breath. She sat there with no regrets about being with Dusty. Even though she was still in love with JR, she couldn’t put her trust in him. She had no doubt he wanted to try, but he always fell short. I’m not a fool anymore.

Thank you, I am. I will tell you about it tomorrow when I come home. Goodnight, and kiss John Ross for me.

JR hoped Sue Ellen would go into more detail about where she was but he didn’t want to push. He thought once he told her about Kristen’s baby, he’d be able to convince her to give him another chance. I know you still love me, darlin as much as I love you.

CHAPTER FOUR

Sue Ellen and Dusty discussed plans for their future. She didn't want to alienate JR with a sudden announcement she was taking John Ross and leaving him for another man. They would be methodical about every move they made.

"I will text you later, my darlin. I love you," Sue Ellen said, and kissed his lips sweetly before getting into the Farlow's helicopter. It landed at the Dallas Heliport. A limousine was waiting to take her home. Oh Lord, please don’t let JR suspect anything.

****
It was 10 o’clock in the morning when JR got back home to Southfork. Carrying a manila envelope closely on his person, he went upstairs and put it in his bedside table. He would wait until that night to show her.

Since he and Harry only talked, JR went to eat some much needed breakfast. He greeted Jock and Miss Ellie.

"Morning Mama. Daddy," JR said, and sat down.

"Have you heard from Sue Ellen?" Miss Ellie asked.

"Yes. We texted each other last night and Sue Ellen said she was having a great time. She should be home soon," JR said.

Jock rolled his eyes. "Damn cell phones. What happened to old fashioned phone conversation?"

"Oh Daddy…I…"

"Now Jock, why would I ruin my evening talking to JR," Sue Ellen interrupted, as she walked into the living room. They all chuckled.

Sue Ellen put down her bags, and asked Teresa to fix her a plate. When she sat next to JR, he kissed her cheek and said, “I missed you, darlin.” She smiled then proceeded to tell a bunch of lies about her girl’s night out.

"So we decided to get together more often," Sue Ellen said, covering herself for future visits with Dusty.

"That sounds wonderful, Sue Ellen. Just tell me when and I'll gladly stay with John Ross," Miss Ellie said.

After eating her breakfast, Sue Ellen got up from the table. "Thank you Miss Ellie. I'm going up to see John Ross now."

"Pam is taking good care of him,” Miss Ellie told her.

Sue Ellen went upstairs and into John Ross's room. He was watching Sesame Street on Pamela's iPad, and he was cradled in her arms. Poor Pamela. How I wish she and Bobby could have a baby.

Pam was oblivious Sue Ellen walked in. In a loud tone, Sue Ellen said, "Hi!"

"Oh Sue Ellen, did you have a good time?" Pam said, about to get up.

"Stay," Sue Ellen said. She kneeled down and kissed John Ross. "I had a great time and thank you for taking care of my baby."

"Don't mention it. Miss Ellie and I had a blast playing with him. He is such a good little boy. I...I love him."

Sue Ellen smiled then shut the door. "Pam, I have to tell you something but please you can't tell anyone, not even Bobby."

"Of course, Sue Ellen. What's going on?" Pam asked, concerned.

Sue Ellen told Pam everything about Dusty, and their relationship. She also told her about the brief reconciliation with JR and the fiasco with Kristen and her baby.

"Oh my God, Sue Ellen. I don't know how you haven’t choked JR by now," Pam remarked.

Sue Ellen nodded. “It’s been hard on me, Pam. I know what I put him through with not knowing if he or Cliff was John Ross’s Father, but he's done so much worse to me.”

“Sue Ellen, you don’t have to explain anything. Cliff didn’t treat you right either. I’ll never defend him where you are concerned,” Pam explained.

“Well, I appreciate that but like I said JR has done far worse. I don’t regret my relationship with Cliff. It was something I needed at the time, especially after my mistake with Ray.” Oh crap!

“Ray? You and Ray?” Pam asked, surprised.

“Yes, but it only happened once. JR had turned me down, and I chased him outside. He sped off in his car, and he probably went to screw one of his sluts. I was so upset, and when I saw Ray, I came on to him. Granted, I had been drinking, but the next morning I remembered everything. I still feel bad how I treated him afterward, but as far as I know, Ray never said a word to anyone, and neither did I until now," Sue Ellen confessed. She thought about it a little more.

"Well, maybe it wasn't a total mistake. I did release a lot of built up sexual tension. He was fabulous,” Sue Ellen confessed, her face red.

“Yes I know how Ray is, remember?” Pam reminded her, a devilish grin on her face.

“Oh right, I almost forgot,” Sue Ellen said, with a chuckle. “Anyway, I’m in love with Dusty and I need your help to keep JR in the dark.”

Pam agreed. “You know how I feel about JR, so it’ll be my pleasure.”

Sue Ellen smiled. She was so very happy to have Pam as her ally.

CHAPTER FIVE

Sue Ellen closed John Ross’s door after putting him to bed for the night. She took a deep breath, and walked into her and JR's bedroom.

JR perked up after waiting patiently. “I missed you so much last night, darlin. I'm glad you're home."

"JR, I really don't care how you feel. I told you I had enough and I meant it," Sue Ellen told him, rather coldly.

JR stood there slightly hurt. "Damn Sue Ellen, you don't have to be so callous."

"And, you didn't have to screw every female in Dallas but you did," Sue Ellen said, scornfully.

"It's probably only half, but I lost count," JR shot back.

Sue Ellen tried not to get emotional. She knew he was just being sarcastic back. She looked at him instead and said, "From now on, JR I'm your wife in name only and…"

JR interrupted her. "What? Don't say that. I love you."

"Words come so easy but your actions prove otherwise," Sue Ellen told him.

JR reached in his nightstand and pulled out the paperwork from Harry. Sue Ellen was curious and asked, "What is that?"

JR took Sue Ellen by the hand. "Please just sit down and listen." She took a deep breath and sat on their bed.

"Go ahead but this better not be one of your tricks, JR," Sue Ellen warned him.

"I promise it’s not Sue Ellen. I did a little sniffing around about your sister. I just found out that Kristen lost the baby that she claimed was mine. She got pregnant soon after by another man, and thought I wouldn't find out what she did," JR said. He showed Sue Ellen everything Harry gave him. “Do you feel better now?”

Sue Ellen was livid. She stood up and shouted, "No, I don't. Do you honestly think just because her baby isn't yours, means everything is going to be okay with us?"

JR shrugged his shoulders and answered, "Yes, well I assumed it would be."

Sue Ellen shook her head. "Jesus, JR you slept with my baby sister! I blame you more than her. You are disgusting!”

"I wasn’t so disgusting the other night when we made love. Hm, I guess that meant nothing to you?" JR asked.

"Of course it did, JR. I loved you; that is why I wanted a reconciliation, but Kristen's phone call was a reminder of how many times you've cheated on me. How can I ever forget what you’ve done?" Sue Ellen said her voice cracking.

"Okay, I'm a stupid son-of-a-bitch. Can't you give me another chance? I need you, Sue Ellen," JR told her.

"No. I can't trust you," Sue Ellen said. She grabbed her nightgown from the bed and ran into the bathroom.

In the past, JR would have fled from their bedroom, drove into Dallas and sought pleasure from another woman. He was determined to change, and hoped Sue Ellen would eventually, "come to her senses."

****
Before going to bed, Sue Ellen took out her cell phone and was relieved to finally get a free moment to text Dusty.

Everything is as normal as it can be at Southfork. I miss you so much. JR doesn’t have a clue that I was with you. I think he believes my made up story. Well, I hope so anyway. I can’t wait to be in your arms and feel the wonders of your tongue. OMG i
t felt so f***ing fabulous! More, please? :p I love you. xoxo

Dusty grinned devilishly and quickly texted Sue Ellen back.

I miss you so much, especially the warmth of your body next to mine. You taste so good. I love you. xoxo

Sue Ellen felt tingles throughout her body. She wanted Dusty’s touch, and didn’t want to go long without being with him. She shut off her cell phone for the night.

When Sue Ellen emerged looking so sexy in her pink satin nightgown, JR felt his desire for her almost too much to bear. She lay down next to him and JR tried to touch her. “I want you, Sue Ellen.”

Sue Ellen gently pushed his arm off of her and in a low voice said, “No.”

“I’m going to go out of my freaking mind not being able to touch you every night. How can I possibly go without making love to you?" JR said.

"It’s easy, my darlin. You did it before for months at a time, and I managed, so now it's your turn. Goodnight," Sue Ellen said, with sarcasm, and shut out the light.

JR managed a smirk. He didn't have an answer for that. It wasn't going to be easy to get back in Sue Ellen's good graces but it didn’t discourage him—he loved a challenge.

CHAPTER 6
In order for Sue Ellen and Dusty to spend as much time together as possible, they leased a condominium in Dallas on a month-to-month basis. Living at the Southern Cross was the ultimate goal.

Southfork
Sue Ellen tossed and turned. She felt sick and ran into the bathroom. She had the dry heaves before ultimately throwing up. It was the second night in a row it happened. She took out the calendar she kept in her handbag. She hadn't kept a close track of her menstrual cycle and she was 10 days late. Sue Ellen jumped when JR yelled out, "You alright in there, darlin?"

"Yes, I’ll be out in a second," and headed back to bed. When she felt his body close to hers, she said, "I'm sorry if I woke you."

"It’s okay," JR said, and wrapped his left arm around her waist. Sue Ellen closed her eyes and let JR hug her—her mind on getting a pregnancy test. She was so worried that she didn't complain when JR kissed her neck.

"I love you. Goodnight,” he whispered. JR rolled onto his side of the bed. Don’t push JR, she’ll come around.

****
It was the longest few minutes that she ever waited. Sue Ellen was somewhat relieved that Dusty had a doctor’s appointment and was unable to see her. When she finally got the courage to look, she gasped.

“Oh Lord,” Sue Ellen mumbled. It was positive. She sat in bed shaking.

I’m going to lose Dusty. How is he going to accept me having another child with JR? How?

Sue Ellen cried into her pillow and let her mind wonder—panic set it. She realized that it was only a few days in-between that she had sex with Clint and JR. She never used protection with JR. She did with Clint, except for the last few times they made love.

Oh my God, not again. What am I going to do?

Sue Ellen prayed that JR was the Father. She didn't want to inflict any more pain on Clint's wife.

****
Sue Ellen confirmed with the doctor that she was indeed expecting a baby. She had to tell Dusty. It wouldn’t be easy, but it had to be done. She greeted Dusty in her normal fashion. She hugged and kissed him but this time she broke down and sobbed.

“What’s wrong?” Dusty asked.

“My darlin, you know that I love you but I...um...don’t know how to say this, except just to say it,” Sue Ellen said.

Dusty sat down and Sue Ellen went next to him. She took his hand and proclaimed, “I’m pregnant.”

“Pregnant! You slept with that man?” Dusty shouted. He was rightly upset.

“That man? You mean my husband,” Sue Ellen stated.

“I thought you hated him, Sue Ellen," Dusty asked.

Sue Ellen got up and said, “I don't hate him but this isn't something I wanted to happen."

"Jesus, how much do you expect me to accept?” Dusty said.

"I know but there's more,” Sue Ellen said, sheepishly.

“More, oh Christ what could be worse?

“The baby…um…may not be JR’s.” Dusty’s face turned white.

“What the f**k, Sue Ellen?”

“Dusty, please understand. I reconciled with JR after he was shot but he was unfaithful again. After you sent me away, I turned to a man that was my sweetheart in college. I needed a distraction. I was so hurt not just by JR, but by you. I broke it off when I realized I was being selfish. I used him,” Sue Ellen told him.

Dusty shook his head. “Damn. Then you went back to JR yet again?”

“Yes. I thought I’d never see you again," Sue Ellen said; tears running down her face.

Dusty wasn't sympathetic. He was angry. "Are you still sleeping with JR?"

“No, of course not. I don't want JR," Sue Ellen said.

"You will when you want to be screwed," Dusty shouted.

"Never. You do satisfy me. I need you, not intercourse!"

"I can’t handle this right now. First, it was not knowing if little John was JR’s or Cliff’s, now it’s either JR’s or...? What is the man's name?”

“Clint. Clint Ogden,” Sue Ellen said, feebly. “Dusty, I’m so sorry. If you hadn’t sent me away…I…” Sue Ellen stopped. She didn’t want to blame Dusty. She grabbed her purse.

“Did you tell JR?” Dusty inquired.

“I have no intention of telling him right now. I hope you can forgive me,” Sue Ellen responded.

A hurt Dusty said, “I need time to think, Sue Ellen. This is just unbelievable. I can’t even look at you. Please leave.”

Sue Ellen looked into his eyes. “I love you, my darlin’,” and walked out the door.

Oh Dusty, please come back to me.

CHAPTER 7

One week later

“Darlin, are you okay?” JR asked, getting into bed.

“Yes, why wouldn’t I be?” Sue Ellen answered her head down looking at her phone.

“You’ve been quieter than usual at dinner and barely touch your food. I’m concerned,” JR said.

“Isn’t that touching? The almighty JR is worried about me,” Sue Ellen said.

“Jesus Sue Ellen, of course I am,” JR responded.

Sue Ellen looked up and said, “I haven’t been feeling good. I must be coming down with a virus or something like that.”

“Have you seen a doctor, darlin.” JR inquired.

“No. I will be okay,” Sue Ellen told him. She couldn’t tell him about the baby until she heard from Dusty.

When Sue Ellen closed out the light, she thought about Dusty. How he must hate me.

“Are you still awake?” JR asked, five minutes later.

“Yes, I am. What’s the matter?” Sue Ellen asked.

“Nothing, I…I just miss holding you. It’s been so hard for me, darlin."

"I'm sure you haven't been spending your time alone," Sue Ellen insinuated.

"Well, yes I have. You probably don't believe me, but it's the God's honest truth. I haven't been with anyone since we last made love," JR said.

Sue Ellen felt somewhat relieved but hated that she cared if he did or not. She wanted Dusty, not JR.

"Why not? I don't care who the hell you take to bed anymore."

JR sat up, and put on the light. "Can't you figure it out why, Sue Ellen?"

"Enlighten me, JR." Sue Ellen told him.

JR leaned down, caressed her face and said softly, "Because I only want you, Sue Ellen. You're my wife, my partner, my lover; I can't live without you."

Sue Ellen looked into his eyes and tears began to flow down her cheek. He gently wiped them away with his thumb. He kissed her slow and sensual; his tongue outlining her lips. She turned her head away.

"JR," Sue Ellen whispered. "Please, I can't...I...give me time."

Even though he was disappointed, JR did not push.

"I'll wait as long as I have to. I love you."

Sue Ellen was already a bunch of nerves over Dusty. She didn’t need JR’s sentimentality to cloud her judgment. She was left with her thoughts.

Why didn’t JR realize all this before? Be strong. Remember JR only wants what he can’t have. If Dusty doesn’t want me then I’m left with JR. Well, is that so bad? Oh my God, yes it is!

****

Southfork - 11 a.m.

Another week had passed until Dusty finally texted her.

Meet me at our place at Noon. I’ve had plenty of time to think. I want to see you.

Sue Ellen responded back with an okay. She grabbed her car keys, and ran out to her car. She practically knocked Pam down.

“Whoa, Sue Ellen,” Pam said. She didn’t know what the rush was.

“I’m sorry Pam. I have to see Dusty. I miss him. I will tell you all about it tonight when I get home,” Sue Ellen told her.

“Okay. Good luck. If anyone is looking for you, I’ll say you went to get a facial and a massage, okay?” Pam said.

“Thanks. I owe you one,” Sue Ellen said, as she started her car and left Southfork.

Pam shook her head and laughed. Oh Sue Ellen, it’s never a dull moment with you.

****

“Was that Sue Ellen that went out the door Pammy?” JR asked.

“Oh, um, yes JR. She had an appointment in town at the salon,” Pam answered.

“Darn, I wanted to take her to lunch today but I’m glad she is taking the time to spoil herself,” JR told her, and walked away.

This time Pam snickered. I’m sure Dusty will pamper her all afternoon.

I bet Sue Ellen feels like a bit of a hypocrite now for going after JR/Kristin. Doesn't make either of them right, just makes the situation more complicated.

I do hope it's JR's baby though, and he is trying, so I kind of want to see her relax a bit and let him in.

CHAPTER 8

Sue Ellen no sooner parked her car to see Dusty; she got a text message from JR.

Hi darlin, I just wanted to tell you how much our kiss meant to me. It was wonderful. Please believe me when I say that I have been faithful. I have. I hope deep down that you still love me. How about dinner tonight? Wherever you want is fine. Hope you'll say yes. I love you so much. xoxo

Sue Ellen had no choice but to lie to JR about where she was or what she was doing. She began to feel like a hypocrite but vowed not to let sentimentality over JR ruin her chance of happiness with Dusty. After all of the lying and cheating JR had done over the years, Sue Ellen thought her actions were justified.

After reading his message several times, Sue Ellen hated how easily JR pulled at her heartstrings. She was slightly overcome with emotion and texted him back.

Of course I still love you. That was never in question and I believe you. I'd also enjoy going out to dinner but can we make it tomorrow? I made plans to see my college friends later. I'm not sure what time I will be getting back. See you when I get home.

JR smiled profusely. He was so happy that Sue Ellen agreed to go to dinner, even if it was the next day. Most importantly, he was relieved that she believed him, too. He wanted to buy her something extravagant so he got in his car and headed into town. Oh sugar, I promise tomorrow night will be special.

****

Sue Ellen stood in front of the condo door. Her hands shook as she fumbled with the key. Even though her feelings for JR were apparent, she didn't trust him to be faithful for long—she still loved and wanted Dusty.

When Sue Ellen slowly opened the door, she called out to him. Dusty came out of the bedroom and said, "Thanks for coming. It hasn’t been easy for me but I’ve come to terms with what has happened. I just want to know something, Sue Ellen.”

They sat down together on the couch. “Anything my darlin,” Sue Ellen said.

“That day…um…you told me you didn't hate JR. Is that true?” Dusty asked.

“Yes, I don't hate him. But what hell does that matter, Dusty,” Sue Ellen told him, not realizing the relevance of his question.

“It matters a lot because what I really want to know is this; do you still love him, Sue Ellen? Dusty inquired.

“Come on Dusty, why are you asking me that? I’m in love with you,” Sue Ellen said.

Dusty’s voice elevated a notch. “Just say yes or no, and don't lie to me, Sue Ellen. I deserve a straight answer from you.”

Sue Ellen resisted. “Dusty, please. I don't understand why you…”

“Sue Ellen! Would you just f***ing answer me? Dusty shouted. She put her head down and didn’t answer.

Dusty grabbed her by the shoulders. "Yes or no!"

Sue Ellen lifted up her head. She took a deep breath and reluctantly answered, "Yes."

Dusty slumped down into the couch. Sue Ellen half sobbed and said, "I love and want you though. JR has been the worst husband to me, and I…"

"Yet, you keep sleeping with him, Sue Ellen. You went back to him after he was shot, and after he cheated on you again with Lucy’s sister-n-law, Afton," Dusty said.

Sue Ellen cringed. "So what? The first time, I thought you were dead, and then you told me not to ever come back after I found you. What the f*** do you want from me? Who was I saving myself for? It certainly wasn't you!"

"It could’ve been anyone else but JR. Oh wait, how can I forget your in-between JR man, Clint. Did you figure out who the baby Daddy is? Either way, couldn’t you close up shop for a little while," Dusty said, sarcastically.

Angrily, Sue Ellen screamed, "The hell with you Dusty. You should have stayed dead!” She was about to get up until Dusty took hold of her hands. She froze and they looked into each other’s eyes. He pulled her in close. Dusty kissed Sue Ellen's lips. He eased her down, quickly taking off her top, and unhooked her bra. She trembled as his tongue traced down from her neck to belly, his hands gently squeezing her bosom. Sue Ellen reached for his shirt and pulled it off his head. He unbuttoned her jeans, and pulled them down just enough to caress her folds.

Sue Ellen let out a sigh. She closed her eyes and waited for the oral pleasure Dusty was about to give her but instead he moaned, stood up slowly, and quickly removed his jeans and underwear. “Dusty,” Sue Ellen whispered, as she excitedly bit her lip. A mischievous grin adorned his face—lusty Dusty was back!

CHAPTER 9

"Damn, I almost forgot how hot you are," Dusty said, catching his breath.

Sue Ellen grinned, then kissed his lips. "You were nothing short of spectacular, my darlin."

"I hope this wasn't just an afternoon miracle," Dusty said, with a sadness in his voice.

Sue Ellen caressed Dusty's face and said, "Don't worry, it won't be." He sat up and asked, "Where do we really go from here?"

"What do you mean?" Sue Ellen inquired.

"I don't know how I'm going to get over the baby not being mine," Dusty said, honestly.

Sue Ellen sighed. She fully understood the predicament they were in. "I don't want to lose you, Dusty. I love you," she said with tears in her eyes.

Dusty leaned on his side. His hand gently moved a few strands of hair from Sue Ellen's face. He kissed her lips sweetly. "I know, but you still love JR."

"Yes, so what do you want me to do?" Sue Ellen asked, and closed her eyes, briefly.

"I want you to leave JR tonight. Your child will be raised a Farlow. That's the only way we can be together. Can you do that?"

"Not tell JR? Or even Clint when the time comes? Sue Ellen asked.

"That is exactly what I'm saying. I won't have it any other way, Sue Ellen," Dusty said.

Sue Ellen got out of bed and started to get dressed. "I can't do that. It wouldn't be right."

"And what you did to me was?" Dusty asked.

"That's not fair. I didn't purposely do anything to you. What you want me to do is wrong, and I won’t do it. I'm sorry but I guess I better go," Sue Ellen explained.

"Wow, look at you being self-righteous!” Dusty shouted, then continued, “If you go, don't come back. This isn't a lifetime offer, Sue Ellen.”

"Good. I don't want one, and you don't need me anymore. I fixed you," Sue Ellen told him. She ran out of the bedroom and slammed the front door.

****

Sue Ellen pulled into Southfork and took a deep breath before heading inside. She rubbed her stomach and promised her baby she would give Daddy another chance. In her heart, she truly believed JR was the baby's Father.

When she walked into John Ross' room, she found Pam playing blocks with him. The only thing Sue Ellen told Pam was that Dusty was out of her life forever.

****

Sue Ellen took John Ross into her and JR's bedroom. He fell fast asleep and she snuggled next to him. In the midst, she texted JR.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you I was home. My plans for tonight fell through. I'm a little tired so I still rather go to dinner tomorrow. See you later, my darlin. xoxo

JR was happy that they would at least get to eat with the family together. Hey sugar, that's fine. I'll be home soon. I love you.

Sue Ellen closed her eyes, and for the first time in a while, she felt relaxed then drifted off to sleep.

****

JR walked into the bedroom to find his wife and son asleep. He couldn’t help but take out his phone and take a picture. Sue Ellen was the epitome of beauty, and his boy so precious—a single tear fell down his cheek. I am one lucky son-of-a-bitch.

CHAPTER 10

JR did his best not to wake Sue Ellen or John Ross. He wanted to freshen up before dinner. He took off his clothes and hung them up as quietly as possible. He couldn't resist kissing Sue Ellen's forehead before heading into the bathroom.

Lately, he’d been masturbating in the shower before dinner to relieve his sexual tension and tonight was no exception. With soothing water that felt wonderful against his skin, and vivid memories of a sexual Sue Ellen, he easily took care of his lust. He knew he'd still be able to make love but only if she wanted it.

****

JR heard Sue Ellen telling John Ross that Daddy was home, and wrapped his robe around his body.

"Hey darlin, I'm sorry if I woke you."

"Hi, JR it's okay. I need to take a shower myself before getting dressed for dinner," Sue Ellen told him. She grabbed one of John Ross' toys and let him play in their bed. "Stay here baby."

JR walked up to Sue Ellen and put his arms around her waist. "I'm glad your home," he said. He leaned in to kiss her lips, and when she didn't resist, JR's hands caressed her torso. Their kisses heated up until Sue Ellen pulled back.

"Wait JR, not in front of the baby. He's looking at us," Sue Ellen said with a chuckle.

JR sat on the bed with little John and said, "Hey bud, your Daddy was just showing your Mama how much he loves her."

Sue Ellen caressed JR's face then added, "And your Mama loves Daddy," then went into the bathroom.
The more Sue Ellen thought about Dusty, her tears turned to anger.

What a jerk; turning into a macho man after he was able to f**k again. Same pattern; I want Sue Ellen. I want her not. Talk about an emotional
roller-coaster. I need calm. I need JR.

Sue Ellen decided she would tell JR she was pregnant after dinner in the privacy of their bedroom. She didn't want to wait any longer. She had no intention of telling him Clint could be the father yet. She also had no plans of rushing to tell Clint either.

Poor Clint, he really loved me.

****

"You look beautiful tonight, darlin," JR said.

"So do you," Sue Ellen whispered in his ear. She quickly kissed her lips and they went into the Ewing dining room hand in hand.

“Evening family,” JR said. Everyone smiled, especially Miss Ellie. She was grateful that Sue Ellen and JR were getting along.

Jock sipped his drink and said, “Let’s eat. I’m starving Miss Ellie.”

Pam noticed Sue Ellen was giddy and very flirty with JR. She and Bobby looked at each other. They knew they were thinking the same thing. Why the hell does she keep going back to this no good bastard?

****

Sue Ellen went into the bedroom after putting John Ross to sleep. She called out to JR. He cracked opened the door and shouted, “Be right out, darlin.” She started to get undressed and pulled out her nightgown.

“Well, isn’t that a pretty picture,” JR said, to a half naked Sue Ellen. She turned around and said, “Sit on the bed. I have something to tell you.” JR had no idea what she wanted to say.

Sue Ellen put on her nightgown and sat next to JR. “I know you’ve been worried about me lately, right?”

“Yes, I have darlin but you seem better today,” JR told her.

“Well I wasn’t feeling quite myself for a good reason,” Sue Ellen said, and took his hand. He looked a little perplexed. “I’m pregnant, my darlin.”

“Pregnant? Oh my God, really sugar?” JR asked, tears of joy in his eyes.

A huge smile adorned her face. “Yes, I’m positive. I took a few pregnancy tests, and the doctor confirmed it.”

JR hugged Sue Ellen tight, and then jumped up and down. “Yes! Yes!”

Sue Ellen laughed as she said, “You’ll wake everyone, my darlin.”

JR went on his side of the bed and motioned for her to lie with him. “Come here, I want to hold you and my baby,” JR said, a glow on his face.

“We’d love it,” Sue Ellen said and went into his arms. This was the caring, and loving side of JR nobody knew, except her. She told him how much the baby meant to her and their relationship.

“Are you telling me that you’re giving me another chance because of our baby?” JR asked.

Sue Ellen sat up. “You know I’d be lying if I said it didn’t but it’s only half of it. In spite of everything, I love you and I always will. There may have been some things I’ve said and done, but one thing hasn’t changed—my love for you. I’m willing to put the past, and we’ve had a rough one, behind us. For John Ross and our baby’s sake, let’s try and make our marriage work.”

JR eased Sue Ellen on her back. He caressed her thigh. “I want nothing else more,” he said; his lips upon hers.

“JR, can we just relish in the news of the baby tonight. Is that okay?” Sue Ellen asked.

“Sure darlin, I’m so overwhelmed with emotion about the next little Ewing that sex isn’t a priority. I love you, Sue Ellen, and I promise that I will be true to you,” JR said and kissed her sweetly.

Sue Ellen fell fast asleep in JR’s loving and protective arms, unaware that her happiness would be brief.

Chapter 11

"When should we tell everyone the good news, JR?" Sue Ellen asked.

"Looks like everyone is eating breakfast, so no time like the present," JR said.

Before they went in, Sue Ellen stopped and whispered, "I look forward to tonight, my darlin," and kissed his lips tenderly.

"Mm, can't get here fast enough for me, sugar," JR told her.

They walked in and said hello but before they sat down JR said, "Everyone we have some exciting news."

Sue Ellen's face glowed and the anticipation was hard to ignore. JR paused.

"Spit it out, JR," Jock told him.

"Okay Daddy. Sue Ellen is pregnant! We're going to have a baby!" JR shouted and put his arm around Sue Ellen's waist.

Jock and Miss Ellie leaped out of their chairs with excitement. Bobby and Pamela followed but Pam soon excused herself and walked away. More than anything Pam wanted a baby but she managed to put on a brave face long enough before the tears rolled down her cheek. She went into John Ross's room. He was asleep but she picked him up anyway, and held him close. She loved little John like he was her own. Even though she was happy for Sue Ellen, she wished it was her. Sue Ellen is so lucky.

Pam then thought about Sue Ellen's tempestuous love life. She never did see JR's appeal, and fully understood the reason of her best friend’s affairs. She wanted to feel loved and needed fulfillment, but deep down Pam felt JR would hurt her again. Her mind shifted to Bobby—the total opposite of JR. Hm, maybe Sue Ellen isn't so lucky after all.

****
Sue Ellen walked over to Miss Ellie. "JR and I are going out to dinner tonight. Would you look after little John while we're gone?"

"Of course. I love taking care of John Ross. Jock and I are so excited about the baby. We thought you were having problems but looks like we were wrong," Miss Ellie said, and touched Sue Ellen's stomach.

Sue Ellen blushed. "Well, actually we did have a rough patch for awhile, Miss Ellie, but we're good now and…" She stopped when her phone text message alert went off. It was Dusty.

"Excuse me, Miss Ellie," Sue Ellen said and went into the privacy of her bedroom. Damn, why can’t he leave me alone?

Sue Ellen hesitated then took a deep breath before she read it. Words cannot begin to express how low I'm feeling. I was wrong. I'm sorry.

Sue Ellen did not waver from her decision to give JR another chance. I'm sorry, too. It was wrong to think you could accept me being pregnant with another man's child.

But I can, Sue Ellen. I swear it. I haven't been able to stop thinking of you. When we had sex, you felt so good. I miss your sweet smell and the succulence of your mouth; my tongue on every inch of you.

Sue Ellen felt a tingle throughout her body. She didn’t want to be reminded how good he made her feel. Yes, it was wonderful but it can’t happen again. There's nothing else to say.

Dusty didn’t give up. But I love you, Sue Ellen. I don't want to live without you. Please give me another chance.

No, it's too late. Don't text or call me anymore. I never want to see you again.

In her mind, Sue Ellen knew that saying goodbye to Dusty was the right thing but her foolish heart thought otherwise. She was unable to hold back the tears and cried into her pillow.

CHAPTER 12

Sue Ellen pulled herself together. She was looking forward to her dinner with JR. She didn't want anything to ruin it, especially Dusty.

JR asked Sue Ellen to meet him at Madison's at 6:15 p.m. She finished getting dressed, kissed John Ross and told him to be good for Grandma.

"You look beautiful, Sue Ellen," Miss Ellie remarked.

"Thank you, Miss Ellie. I want tonight to be special for JR and me. It's been awhile since we went to dinner together," Sue Ellen said.

"I know, so have a great time, and don't worry about John Ross. He'll be fine," Miss Ellie assured her. Sue Ellen thanked her again and left.

As Sue Ellen got in her car, she received a call from Clayton. She was going to ignore it but out of respect, she answered with a simple hello.

"Evening Sue Ellen. Sorry to bother you," Clayton said.

"Hi Clayton, no problem. What's up?" Sue Ellen inquired.

"Have you spoken to Dusty lately?" Clayton asked.

Sue Ellen was honest without saying much. "I saw him two days ago and we texted yesterday. Why? Is something wrong?"

"I guess not. I haven't spoken to him for a few days. I figured he was at the condo with you. He didn't take my call last night. I would text him, but I haven't a clue how," Clayton told her, with a chuckle. She laughed with him.

Sue Ellen figured Dusty didn't want to talk after everything that went on between them. She was not forthcoming. "I'm sure he is fine, Clayton."

"Yes, I'm sure he is. Steven usually forgets I worry about him," Clayton said with a slight annoyance.

"Well, I will tell him to call you when I speak to him," Sue Ellen said. She made a point to text Dusty for Clayton's sake.

"Thank you, Sue Ellen. You know Dusty is lucky to have a wonderful woman like you, and so am I. It'll warm my heart when you become my daughter," Clayton said.

"Awe, thank you Clayton. Goodnight," Sue Ellen managed to say, and hung up the phone. She hoped Dusty would tell him what happened. He is such a sweet man. I'm going to miss him.

****
Before Sue Ellen went into the restaurant, she texted Dusty.

Your Dad called asking about you. He is worried because you two haven't spoke. F***ing call him!

Sue Ellen hoped that would wake him up. She checked herself out in the mirror. Hm, I look pretty good.

****
Sue Ellen waited for JR to arrive. She was a few minutes early. As she waited, she heard a familiar voice call her name. She turned around quickly and when she saw him, she managed to smile. Oh, Lord.

"Clint," Sue Ellen said. She immediately thought of her baby that could be his.

In spite of everything, Clint was happy to see her. "How have you been?"

Sue Ellen would have felt more at ease if she wasn't expecting JR at any moment. "I'm good, and you?"

"I'm better now. You look beautiful, as always. God, I miss you so much," Clint told her.

"Clint, please it's over. We shouldn't be talking like this plus JR will be here any second," Sue Ellen told him.

"So what. We're old friends, right?" Clint remarked.

"Yes just friends. I've reconciled with my husband," Sue Ellen said. She nervously bit her lip when she spotted JR walking toward them.

"Hello there, darlin," JR said; his eyes on Clint. "Why don't you introduce me?"

Sue Ellen cleared her throat. Oh God, how awkward.

"Of course, JR. This is my friend from college, Clint Ogden." She looked at Clint and said, "This is my husband, JR Ewing."

"Nice to see you again, JR. We met briefly at your Niece Lucy's wedding," Clint reminded him. They shook hands.

JR had no recollection of meeting Clint at Lucy's wedding. He only knew what Ogden looked like from the surveillance videos Harry took of Clint kissing Sue Ellen's lips, and holding . His nostrils flared but he kept his cool.

"Oh right. That was such a memorable day. How could I forget?" JR said.

Sue Ellen rolled her eyes. You were too busy trying to f**k Afton you bastard.

"Well, it was nice seeing you again, Clint," JR said. Sue Ellen quickly took hold of JR's arm and left Clint standing there.

“Wasn’t he your college sweetheart, Sue Ellen?” JR asked.

“Yes, but I dumped him for you, my darlin. From this day forward, I only want the man I'm in love with, and that's you," Sue Ellen said.

JR smiled profusely and said, "You just made me the happiest man in the world. I love you."
