I wanted to post a comprehensive update covering two major developments in BSL broadcasting—both of which will be of real interest to regular viewers of signed content on UK TV.
First up, a major update regarding Glastonbury 2025 and its BSL coverage on BBC iPlayer. While I’ve mentioned this before, we now have the full durations confirmed for the Pyramid Stage (BSL) stream, which will run across Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, and Sunday 29th June. This is the third year running that the BBC has provided British Sign Language interpretation for the Pyramid Stage, and once again, the team behind the coverage has gone above and beyond.
On Friday 27th June, the Pyramid Stage (BSL) stream will be live for an impressive 12 hours and 35 minutes, bringing Deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers full access to the entire day’s performances.
Then on Saturday 28th June, the stream runs for 10 hours and 35 minutes, covering everything from the first big acts through to the final performances of the evening.
And on Sunday 29th June, the stream continues for 11 hours and 35 minutes, closing out the festival with a final day packed with headline sets, all signed in full.
That’s a total of 34 hours and 45 minutes across the three days—identical to the 2024 total and 1 hour and 10 minutes longer than in 2023, which shows just how much this offering has grown.
To watch, all you need to do is head over to BBC iPlayer, either through the website or the app. Search “Glastonbury” and look for the stream titled “Pyramid Stage (BSL)”. It will be live on each day—Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, and Sunday 29th June—from early afternoon and running well into the night. The stream includes both signing and subtitles, and is a great example of inclusive broadcasting at its best.
Whether you’re planning to dip in and out or watch every minute, this is one of the best opportunities of the year to enjoy live music with full BSL access. And with so many hours of signed coverage across Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, and Sunday 29th June, it really does set a new standard for accessibility at major UK festivals.
Now onto the second piece of news, which relates to the visually signed TV schedules for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June—there have been some notable changes worth highlighting.
The biggest update is the launch of a new channel called ITV Quiz, which began broadcasting on Monday 9th June. It includes a daily BSL slot featuring the popular game show Lingo, shown every day of the week from 9am to 10am—including Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June. It’s a brilliant addition to the line-up of signed programming, especially for viewers looking for weekday or weekend morning content. ITV Quiz can be found on Virgin 119, Sky Q 131, Freeview 28, and Freesat 119.
Moving over to ITV2, there have been schedule changes for both Saturday and Sunday mornings. On Saturday 14th June, the BSL schedule kicks off at 7:45am with Buying the View, which runs until 8:05am. That’s followed by a signed double bill of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars, airing from 8:05am to 9:55am. Then, from 9:55am to 11:00am, viewers can catch the signed edition of Deal or No Deal. This newly extended run of morning signed content is a change from previous weeks, so regular viewers should take note.
On ITV3, the signed programming for Saturday 14th June consists of a double episode of Wycliffe, starting at 6:35am and continuing through to 8:50am—perfect for early risers and fans of crime drama.
For Sunday 15th June, ITV2 once again begins with Buying the View at 7:45am, running until 8:15am, followed by another signed double bill of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars, which runs from 8:15am to 10:15am. This means Sunday’s morning block is even longer than Saturday’s.
Over on ITV3, Sunday’s signed schedule mirrors Saturday’s exactly, with Wycliffe running as a double bill from 6:35am to 8:50am, offering another chance to catch this long-standing drama with signing.
As a reminder for channel listings: ITV2 is on Freesat 113, Virgin 115, Sky Q 118, and Freeview 6. ITV3 can be found on Freeview 10, Virgin 117, Sky Q 119, and Freesat 115.
With these updates, the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June is shaping up to be packed with quality signed content across ITV2, ITV3, and now ITV Quiz. Whether you're after cookery competitions, crime dramas, property shows, or game shows, there’s a solid variety to choose from—especially with Lingo running signed every morning on ITV Quiz.
So, whether you're tuning in for Glastonbury on Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, and Sunday 29th June, or planning your weekend telly for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th, there’s never been a better time to be a BSL viewer. Do pass this on to anyone who might benefit—and as always, feel free to reply here if you've spotted anything else coming up.
