Will you see it at the cinema, @Sarah?

As we know that Halloween Ends is coming next year I'm thinking I might wait until that one's out on Blu-ray and watch all four films in this new timeline on the 45th Anniversary in 2023.
No. Sadly not.

Ok so I’ve recently been diagnosed with a rather obscure condition called misophonia which is believed to be in many ways linked to anxiety (which I suffer from too I’m a walking medical marvel actually).

It literally means hatred of sound. Where I can cope with a loud movie just about what I cannot deal with is the rustling of sweets, crisps being smacked, popcorn etc.. it sounds mad but it’s not fun believe me. It can also be visual so even the slightest interruption - say if someone is late or they take out a phone and I can see the light - can distract me so badly I end up having a terrible time.

It’s not widely known or talked about but let’s just say when I’m with Michael, Jason or Freddy, it’s best we are left alone….

Ooh - how intriguing.
I'd love to expand on that, but it's also something that I know would be better viewed without any comments, so I'll leave it there.

Has it left you filled with anticipation about Halloween Ends?
I had a couple of disappointing moments, only because I was not too fond of something that happened. But other than that, I'm more curious about where they go after the event of this movie.

Sadly, we had that last night. It wasn't busy, probably a quarter full; however, it didn't stop the noises from people who don't eat through the day and save all their food from being munched during the movie.

What shocked me more was two guys in front of us that were vaping throughout. I think someone reported them because we saw security come in and remove them. I felt good about that until I saw both of them return, so I have no idea what happened outside the auditorium.

Michael isn't all evil. He's been protecting us since 1978 from all kinds of viruses.

No. Sadly not.

For what it's worth, we'll both be catching up with it on home media. I'm not a fan of the cinema for similar reasons.

Oh - these are intriguing comments and have my mind racing with possibilities (one of which seems too devastating to really consider. But now I'm thinking it's the most likely).

I'm really in favour of food and phone-free cinemas, and I'm sure I've seen petitions to this effect over the years. We can hope.

That's really shocking and it would really bother me. I don't like being around that kind of thing. If you want to see me turn beetroot, just mention this week's news of the NHS supplying vapes free of charge.

This year I feel like a bad Halloween fan as I usually watch at least the first film around now, and often a couple of the sequels (depending which timeline takes my fancy).

Now it's that time of year in 2021 I have no urge at all to watch even the original. And I haven't even done Jaws this year, which is the other film that has always had an annual screening in the O'Drama house (usually late June/early July without fail).

I blame reaction videos. In recent months I've devoured oodles of first time reaction videos to many of my favourite films and I've probably watched twenty plus videos of people watching Halloween and the various sequels. I suppose this has given me my fix. But at a cost.

It seems we have some common taste! :D
I love the halloween series! I saw it many many years ago except the first 2 I saw many times.
In fact I didn't liked the 3, 4... I don't even remember them.
So when I watch the Halloween films I only watch 1 & 2... Until recently because I went to the movie theatre to see the first 2 David Gordon Green' Halloween of the trilogy.
By the way I also never saw the Rob Zombie remakes. I heard some who liked them and some don't. I guess I will watch them one day or the another!

PS: I NEVER miss a year without watching JAWS (sometimes 2 or 3 time a year) :D

Yay!! :gotcha:

I didn't liked the 3, 4... I don't even remember them.
So when I watch the Halloween films I only watch 1 & 2...

I think the first two are generally considered the best of the original series.

I'm not a fan of the third film at all. I quite like 4, but I thought 5 was absolutely dire and 6 had a really silly story, so they both undermine the fourth film as those three are meant to be watched together.

I'm very fond of H20 as well. It was the first Halloween film I saw in the cinema, and at the time I hadn't long discovered the first two films. It's not without its problems, but it's still my second favourite of the series after the first film, and I think 1, 2 and H20 make a really decent trilogy to watch together.

Until recently because I went to the movie theatre to see the first 2 David Gordon Green' Halloween of the trilogy.

What did you think of them? I really didn't like the idea of Halloween 2018 when it was announced, but it's grown on me. I watched it last year and thought it was really good.

I still haven't seen Halloween Kills. I'll probably wait until the three new ones are out on Blu-ray and watch them all together.

By the way I also never saw the Rob Zombie remakes. I heard some who liked them and some don't. I guess I will watch them one day or the another!

I haven't seen either of them and have never found the idea of watching appealing. They look far too graphically violent for my tastes, and I don't like the idea of "explaining" Michael Myers too much (that's where the sixth film went horribly off-track).

PS: I NEVER miss a year without watching JAWS (sometimes 2 or 3 time a year) :D

Great. But now I feel even more guilty about not watching this year. ;)

To be honest I have to say I liked the idea of thoses Halloweens. In fact I liked the fact the trilogy went just after H1...
There's 5 way to watch Halloween's films. I never liked that. I also thought it was better that Laurie Strode was NOT Mike's sister (even if I liked H2).
So I enjoyed the fact that all the others Halloween never existed if we watch H 1/H 2018/H kills/H ends. I'm fine with that.

Great. But now I feel even more guilty about not watching this year. ;)
:laughs:Don't be... In fact I must confess 1 thing! EACH time JAWS is on TV I'll watch it! I know I have DVD & Blu Ray and I can watch it when I want but I can't resist to watch it if he's on TV...

Halloween Kills is a ok film they show too many flashbacks all the people in Haddonfield are dumb but Michael is great and a force to be reckoned with.

I agree but they have to remember us who is who since there's 1 group with characters last saw on H1. Not a fan of flashbacks but I understand why David Gordon Green inserted them...

Yes indeed. Jamie Lee makes it worth watching. And it does feel like it gives the series a proper ending.

I loved John Ottman's music as well. His Halloween theme is great. It's just a shame a lot of his tracks were replaced with tracks from other films in post-production. I'd love to see a version on Blu-ray that had the original intended score.

There's 5 way to watch Halloween's films. I never liked that.

Ha ha. I know. It's like those "choose your own adventure" books I used to read as a kid. It's always interesting to see which sequence of films are different fans' favourites.

I also thought it was better that Laurie Strode was NOT Mike's sister (even if I liked H2).

I'm fairly sure that my introduction to Halloween was a double-feature VHS that had the first two films. I think I knew about Laurie being Michael's sister before watching the first one. Because of that, I never really experienced watching the story without that reveal. I don't even think it registered with me that it wasn't mentioned in the first one until I'd watched a couple of times.

I won't say much about H kills because I don't want to spoil ;)

Oh, thanks. I know @Sarah hasn't seen it yet either so it's nice we can still enjoy this thread.

I wouldn't want to stop you discussing it, but there's always the option of wrapping your comments in a spoiler tag.

Oh yes I remember thoses books, you're totally right. For Halloween I really prefer the H1/H2018/Kills/Ends.
Since I liked H2 I can be fine with H1/H2/H20/H resurrection as well

I must admit (as long as I can remember) I never thought about Laurie being Mike's sister... It never crossed my mind back in the day watching H1 or H2. Maybe that's why I didn't like that storyline I don't know :D

I loved the return of Halloween and now having finished all three movies it’s been a blast. Lots of excitement as the Trilogy payed tons of respect to Haddonfield in 1978 and all who were part of the original.

There is a part of me that will say the final trilogy could have been told in one movie if they were to remove a lot of the deadwood that plays out throughout the trilogy. It would have been one hell of a last scare, but they were always going to milk it while the audience turned up and the other part of me has been happy to go along with all three movies.

I always wanted to know how they would bring Myers back and I was happy with how that played out.

I always wanted to know how they would eventually end Myers and I was even happier by how that played out.

You may remember I was very cynical about the 2018 film before I watched. I was fed up with all the different timelines and realities within the film world, and Laurie had previously been killed off twice (once onscreen). Plus H20 felt to me like the definitive end to the Laurie/Michael saga and it was all undone in the opening minutes of the following film, so I was a bit fed up with all these "final confrontations" that weren't.

As it turned out, I really enjoyed Halloween 2018, especially the numerous nods to the history of the entire series. I've yet to watch Kills and Ends but I really like the little I know about the films, such as the returnees. Oh, and I know of one significant death in Kills and it doesn't displease me.

I suspect I'll wait for the final film to come out on Blu-ray (next JUNE according to Amazon), and watch them both along with the previous two films in the timeline next October. I'm looking forward to (belatedly) finding out how this timeline wraps things up.

Interesting observation.

By the way, this JLC interview popped up in my suggestions this morning. I adore her passion for the character of Laurie and this particular vision of the series. She's always so erudite, no matter where the subject goes, and it's interesting to see her become tearful when discussing words of hate here. She's so emotionally intelligent and I could not love her more.

I was fed up with all the different timelines
I know2 what you mean, it takes away that little belief we might have had by erasing different parts. Though on the positive side, it's nice that we can have three different Halloween experiences by choosing which timeline to watch. Plus having so many films we don't have to saturate ourselves every October with all movies. I will do a different timeline for each of the next three years.

Oh, and I know of one significant death in Kills and it doesn't displease me.
ooooh......

Interesting observation.
Thinking back to my earlier comment, I guess it could be said for many trilogies over the years. I felt some parts of the last three films were thrown in for thrill and even to stretch the story. I few newer characters that I didn't care for.

But! that could all change when I do this particular timeline again. I've watched the rest of the movies countless times, so I've had time to pick and choose characters I liked over others. With this last thrillogy (I liked JLC using this in the above interview) I've only seen it once, so I could easily change my mind on further watching.

Thanks that was a great interview
