What a Gold Medal Men’s Basketball game! France gave it their all against the U.S. and almost pulled it off. I have to say seeing the French team getting cheered on by a partisan crowd as they tried to slay the giant was very moving. If they were playing anyone else I would’ve been rooting for them. They should be very proud of themselves.

They most certainly have! It’s definitely not 1992 anymore. I couldn’t help but get the feeling this time that they are being more and more tested every four years, and with this more than likely being the final Olympics for Lebron James that’s only going to continue.

Paris 2024 has to be one of my favourite Olympics and these are my top 10 moments (in approximate order):
1. Femke Bols amazing sprint finish to win the 4x400 mixed relay for the Netherlands.
2. Sifan Hassan overtaking Tigst Assefa in the last 200 metres of the women's marathon to win gold for the Netherlands, only two days after she won bronze in the 10,000m and six days after winning bronze in the 5,000m.
3. Julien Alfred winning the women's athletics 100m, the first gold medal ever for St Lucia which has a population of only 200,000.
4. Rojé Stona winning the men's discus for Jamaica in a new Olympic record and the first time the contest was won by someone outside of Europe and the USA.
5. Simone Biles banishing the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics by winning 4 gymnastic gold medals.
6. Novak Djokovic beating Carlos Alcaraz to win gold and become only the fifth player ever to win a career golden slam.
7. Armand Duplantis winning gold for Sweden in the pole vault with a new world record.
8. Rafa Nadal's joy when receiving the Olympic torch from Zinedine Zidane during the opening ceremony.
9. Keely Hodgkinson winning gold for GB in the athletics 800m.
10. I'll cheat for my final choice by including different matches. The USA beating France in the dying moments of both the men's and women's basketball to win gold in both contests.

I think this one stands out for me the most this Olympics. She’s a great story of redemption and having to wait three years for it has to make it mean so much more to her I would imagine.
Two of the best basketball games I’ve ever seen in Olympic competition. They really could’ve gone either way. The home crowd almost made the difference.
