The alternate ending may just actually be the original ending. The German episodes that I watched on Youtube (during one of my attempts to learn German) end on the fashion show but the freeze frame is Laurie and her mother embracing as they congratulate her on the show. They have cut the end scene where Grant tells everyone that his wife's plane has crashed into the ocean. So maybe this is what they consider the alternate ending as it may never have been shown in Germany? I'm sure @Willie Oleson can put us straight when he watches the DVD or one of our German Tellytalkers will know how it originally aired.
Perhaps. I just went to Youtube to check the episodes I watched. The fashion show ends, there is some talking afterwards and then the news about the plane crash comes and freeze frame. There's a plot with the stalker that isn't resolved even though throughout the episode and previous episodes it feels like it's leading up to something, like perhaps him shooting the other male model (Chris?) who is romantically involved with Laurie. I might buy the DVD and see.

I suspect there was no filmed "alternative ending" a la Models Inc; it just sounds like they cut out the main cliffhanger to make it less open-ended. Of course you still have on-going storylines like Laurie's stalker that would be pretty much impossible to cut around. So I assume that either the "alternative ending" is the cut one OR the original aired one with Grant telling everyone about the plane crash.

I guess it's good enough for little old me, and it would be awesome if we'd get the rest of Knots and Falcon Crest in this DVD quality.
But I don't think I wanted Paper Dolls that bad, and it's also in stark contrast to the almost pornish-glossy boxset itself.
It's a nice thing to have, but that's all it is.

Are there any bonuses, or is it just the series (short as it was)?

Let's see...
Entfallene Szenen - is that deleted scenes??
Alternatives Ende - I only know one ending!!
Trailer

And then all the stuff in the glossy booklet.

That's something, at least! And yes, I think that first thing is "deleted scenes."

I'm sorry @Miss Texas 1967 I had completely forgotten about the alternative ending mystery!

The episode ends with Grayson's negative comments on the casual-but-glamorous sportswear fashion, Grayson tells Wesley "now we're even" (or was it Wesley who said that) and then it ends with the happy models.

The alternative ending is only the last part when Grant Harper shows up to tell Blair about the plane crash.

But even combined, it's still not the full episode as we've seen it on YT.
It doesn't show that Wesley accidentally bumps into stalker guy (it's in the Deleted Scenes section, now I ask you!) and neither the episode nor the alternative ending shows the converstation between David and Blair ("I'm finished!" / "No, you're not! You're talented blabla").
On YT, the short converstation between Wesley and Grayson happens....I'm getting confused now....I think after David & Blair and just before Grant shows up.
Some additional joyful chatter between models and parents is also a deleted scene.

I don't understand the whole thought process behind this unnecessarily complicated broadcasting stuff.
Like the German DALLAS box set that puts the previously never broadcast episodes on a seperate bonus disc. What's the benefit of all this tomfoolery?

Oddly enough, the picture of the alternative ending is of a better quality than the episodes.

Is it possible to un-cancel PAPER DOLLS because I really want to know what happens next:a2:. What's Racine's secret in Texas, and who will play Blair and Wesley's brother?

Weird! I get maybe to wrap it all up they didn't put things in there but the fact that the scenes exist and we know how they go because of the Youtube episodes makes the decision questionable. I'm glad it's not the other way around though, that we know there were extra scenes and they still chose not to put them on the DVD (TNT Dallas did this and it's annoying as heck).

As for un-cancelling it, I wish! Every time I watch Paper Dolls (2 or 3 times now) I want more. I enjoyed this show a lot and there were several plots that weren't resolved at all :(
