‘I find the Democrats are really, pretty much almost against all the same things,’ actor says

Actor and activist Rose McGowan has claimed Democrats are in a “deep cult” and “they’re against changing the world for the better."

During a Fox News Primetime interview, McGowan started out by sharing a story of how she grew up in a cult called “Children of God” that she claims gave her the ability “to see the control and propaganda on the left for what it is and how it harms people.”

She told host Tammy Bruce: “I am not here to make people feel bad about their political choices.

“But I am here to say that you might be in a cult too if you don’t know the signs. And I do believe Democrats, most especially, are in a deep cult that they really don’t know about and aren’t really aware of.”

“They’re against changing the world for the better and they’re for keeping a system in place that is for so few people and benefits so few but they masquerade as the helpers.”

McGowan said she has had the opportunity to recuperate and perceive the sort of contorted manner of speaking she upheld as a Democrat.

“My persecution and awakening from being a Democrat was so much about what I do and what I say now and so much about realizing how hardcore of a cult it is,” she said.

The Scream actor likewise suggested viewers make a rundown of all that they believe in and why.

She said: “What part of it is organic to you and what part has been implanted either by Hollywood, or the media, or your leaders?

“What part of it is truly yours? What’s organic to you? And see what’s the polyester and pull it out of your fabric. We have to examine what we believe and why.”

“Look at your own belief systems and get free,” she added.

It was not the first time McCowan has compared the Democrats to a cult.

In 2020, when Joe Biden was assumed as the Democratic party’s presidential candidate, the actor shared a picture of herself crying on Twitter with the caption: “I’m really sad, and I’m really tired. I normally share thoughts, but tonight it’s emotion.”

She wrote: “I thought democracy meant I had a right to choose those who lined up with my value system. But what if there’s no one? Now I know too much. And I feel really quite a sense of loss tonight.”

She continued: “I am not a cynical person, but America goddamn. Republicans have always been painted as the bad guys, and I’ve always seen them more as a cult, but now I realise so are the Democrats and the media. Macro and Micro.”

An actress that most people haven't heard of goes on a right wing news channel to criticise the Democrats and is widely praised by Republicans. Meanwhile the Democrats are implementing a $1.9 trillion covid relief plan, pushing for a $2.25 trillion infrastructure plan and are committed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030 compared with 2005 levels. Those Democrats are doing nothing to change the world for the better.

Rose also said the Republicans were a cult, too, but that was mostly ignored. She's always been a left winger, but the "liberal" media outlets won't interview you if you offer intelligent criticism of the pseudo-left and the Democratic establishment. Leftist Jimmy Dore has to go to Tucker Carlson on FOX if he wants to be interviewed in the mainstream media, so he does so.

Rose McGowan can be kookie, and she's not entirely stable. But she is entirely correct on this. Even when the Democrats have control of both houses of congress and the White House, they never manage to get anything significant done, at least not for the working class -- and they manage to give all the unneeded "relief" to the super-rich, just like the Republicans do.

This is because the Democrats have been bought and paid for by the same oligarchs who've owned the Republicans for eons. So do not be fooled by them, just as McGowan has finally figured them out... In the final analysis, the Democrats' promises and their meager successes won't have much in common and both will be over-hyped. They are there to convince us that they are an opposition party, the "good guys", but they are not.

It's political theatre, and BS of the most egregious kind. And as a lifelong liberal Democrat myself, this isn't an easy thing to confess. The Democrats are there to talk a good talk, and then not deliver -- and then, if they admit their orchestrated failures at all, to blame the Republicans or DINOs like Joe Manchin.

Voting Democrats on the street need to come to the same revelation that Rose McGowan has. And more and more are indeed figuring out that the scam is not just on the overt political right, but that the Democratic leadership is also completely right wing under the hood, and even more dishonest about it.

This is a perfect example of cultish behavior. It's an elitist point of view that's only interested in the views of well known/A-list figures who preach solely to the choir.

Republicans implemented two Covid relief plans. Does that mean they were trying to change the world for the better? Those bills also constituted the largest upward transfer of wealth in human history, and had bipartisan support. As far as the direct payments go, Biden essentially took credit for the $600 stimulus checks under Trump.

If Biden was "committed" to cutting greenhouse gas emissions, I highly doubt he would have issued dozens of fracking permits. Many progressives have also accused Biden's infrastructure plan of not being ambitious enough. The caveat is that it's 2.25 trillion spread out over ten years! One always has to read the fine print with the Democrats.

Then there's the kids in cages, the continued construction of Trump's border wall and the seizing of land to build it, the illegal bombing of Syria, the privatization of the Afghanistan war, sabre rattling with Russia, Iranian sanctions that leave a return to the Iran Deal in jeopardy, a refusal to support single payer healthcare or even a public option during a pandemic, the $15 minimum wage being dropped, etc. Wow, those Dems sure are doing their best to change the world for the better, aren't they?

I agree that Rose is unstable, though she is very intelligent and has some valid points. The Democratic party is just as beholden to the oligarchs (especially pharmaceutical companies) as the Republicans. I think the "woke" crowd is just as much of a cult and is just as toxic as the MAGA group on the right; the difference is the MAGA group makes up the majority of Republicans while the woke people are - for now at least - a minority fringe within the Democratic party.

President Joe Biden is much more liberal than Senator Joe Biden ever was. Last night Rachel Maddow explained how Biden's tax structure (which is now in effect) cut taxes for the middle-class. People who earn less than $75K will owe nothing - zero - in federal income tax this year. Those who earn $75K to $100K will pay a tax of less than 2%. Republicans are taking credit for Biden's policies even though they voted against them. Biden's infrastructure plan and "American Families Plan" will benefit middle and lower income families like nothing we have seen since the days of L.B. J. and F.D.R.

Part of the problem here is the news media. McGowan actually thought that Fox was an appropriate forum to address her concerns. I'm sure Fox was thrilled to have someone from the left go on one of their shows and criticize the left. Would other news outlets want to give McGowan airtime to voice her concerns? Maybe Newsmax or OAN but none of the so-called "mainstream media". The only time you hear criticism of the left on other news outlets it's from Republicans. There is very little straight forward journalism today - especially on television. The news media has always tended to attract people who lean to the left but in the past they made an effort to keep their ideology out of their reporting and cover the facts; opinion was reserved for the editorial page of newspapers or a minute at the end of a television newscast that was clearly defined as "commentary".

The "mainstream media" is just as guilty of enabling Democratic politicians and not holding them accountable as the right-wing media is when covering Republicans.

Precisely right. MSNBC and CNN will only let you on to bash Bernie Sanders, socialism, or to manufacture consent for our wars. And this is the liberal media!

Prior to 2016, all of my posts here were geared towards bashing Republicans. It was around this time that I discovered Bernie Sanders, as well as independent media like Secular Talk and The Jimmy Dore Show. It was truly eye opening for me. I quickly developed a hatred for the Democratic Party that surpassed my hatred of the GOP. Although I find them both extremely odious, I saw how the Democrats used platitudes and co-opted progressive language to make themselves seem like the good guys. And worst of all, I saw how effective it was. Right wing scum bags like James Carville helped reshape the Democratic Party under Bill Clinton, and they've been a neoliberal party ever since.

This is why I totally get where McGowan's coming from when she says she has more respect for Republicans because they're honest about the terrible things they stand for.

I've seen increasing numbers of registered Democrats coming around to this way of thinking, which I find encouraging. Of course, discovering the truth is only half the battle. Without a viable third party, poor and working class leftists are politically homeless. They have the power to change that, but they've been propagandized not too.

It's far from a done deal. Any worthy policy proposition from the Dems usually gets watered down to the point of irrelevance.

A lot of senators attempt to become more liberal once they get into the White House because the oval office is where legacy is established -- including JFK and Nixon, and look what happened to them (Watergate is more complicated than people think) and there was even an elaborate plot by the wealthiest families in the country to assassinate FDR because of the New Deal, a plot taken seriously enough by the White House that public hearings were held in the Congress over it..

And phukc LBJ. Just phukc him to hell, where he lives today.

They won't need to pull that sort of thing on Biden, of course. He's too easily stopped through the system, and even convinced to back down.

Look, just real talk from middle America here...

She has no credibility. Zero. Zilch.

She was big in the beginning of the #metoo movement. But as soon at it became about something other than herself, she bailed. But not before she whined.

I say this as a rape survivor....that woman is a cancer.

Give me someone who isn't a douche canoe and we'll talk.

I'm more of the mindset that a broken clock is right twice a day. I don't have to like or agree with someone all of the time in order to agree with them some of the time.

And as for bailing on the #metoo movement, what about Dems like Alyssa Milano? Once Biden was accused of sexual assault, their "believe women" mantra went out the door.

Yes. Biden might as well have been a Bush Republican as a Senator with his calls to gut social safety nets, his drafting of the crime bill and the Patriot Act, his support for the Iraq War, etc. He's tried to put up a progressive front as president, all the while pretending he's powerless to use his bully pulpit as he blames corporate Dems and an unelected parliamentarian whenever his agenda fails. The truth is he loves having scapegoats because it let's him off the hook for policies he never wanted to implement to begin with.

IMO, the biggest disappointment are the so-called "justice Democrats." This was the group co-founded by podcasters Cenk Uygur and Kyle Kulinski. Both founders are no longer part of the organization, and have denounced the groups capitulation to the Democratic establishment. These progressives have the ability to hold up legislation in exchange for concessions. It's what they ran on. Unfortunately, they've chosen to not use their leverage and to vote with the establishment. In contrast, corporate Dems don't hesitate to use their leverage to get what they want. The justice Democrats are just a bunch of keyboard warriors on Twitter who only offer false hope and false promises.

The Justice Dems praised Biden, saying he "exceeded their expectations." Like Jimmy Dore says, you don't change the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party changes you.

"Believe women" is inherently flawed. False claims of rape are rare but they do happen. There have been cases where women have testified with absolute certainty that the man they identified was their attacker only to have DNA evidence later exonerate the accused and incriminate someone else. There are also cases where women have falsely accused men of rape or child molestation out of malice - very rare, but it does happen. "Listen to women" should have been their mantra all along. As to the accusations against Joe Biden: one was that he sexually harassed a woman at the Gridiron Dinner in 2008. Biden regularly attended the dinner but 2008 was one of the few years he didn't attend, he was home recovering from surgery. Tara Reade's accusation was more serious but upon investigation it simply didn't hold up. It didn't help that Reade is an habitual liar and embezzler.

I agree that "believe women" is a flawed concept for the reasons you cite. However, my point is certain Dems abandoned their own principles when they became inconvenient.

Tara Reade has her issues, no doubt about it. It doesn't necessarily mean she's lying about being sexually assaulted. Biden's also a habitual liar, so who really knows the truth?

They happen all the time. Talk to someone in a big city police department's sex crimes division about how "rare" it is -- but make sure they're off-camera and off-mic if they want to keep their jobs.

The sad fact is: lots of women lie, even if we're supposed to pretend they don't. And that doesn't help women who've been genuinely sexually assaulted.

And the allegations against Biden were more believable than the obviously trumped-up crap they slung at Kavanaugh -- as much as I didn't want the latter on the Supreme Court.

I don't think Christine Blasey Ford was lying, I do think her case was so weak that it didn't merit inclusion at Kavanagh's confirmation hearing. By proceeding with this one accusation and nothing stronger to back it up only made it look like the Democrats were persecuting Kavanaugh.

Which indeed they were. I think she was telling the truth, too, but what she described was a far cry from sexual assault -- and they had her testify because that's all they had.

Which was nothing.

Then the others piled on, whispering off camera their allegations, several of whom were proven to be lying.

Yes, the kids in the Children of God cult were expected to be ushered in to sex by age 4.

It's why River Phoenix is dead.
