I am guessing they planned a lot more follow-up drama regarding Cristal's miscarriage/Mark's murder, but it was all tossed out when NS asked to leave. Cristal had one line where she voiced her belief (which seemed sincere when she said it) that her family had Mark killed, but she soon fell into line against Mac (was that this name?) soon after with no explanation. She just showed up to hawk a loogie in Mac's bashed-in face. It was as if the show had wanted to stretch it out with a whodunit, but had to tie it up quickly (and apparently throw it in the lake). I should have been suspicious because it isn't typical for Alexis's efforts at covering her tracks to be so....successful.

Does Alexis really know what she did? Do we know? We saw her depressed, drinking and deeply dazed. Alexis may think she did it and she has pointed to Mac to distract from herself but I still doubt she was able to shoot Mark Jennings in that state.

And I don't think NS's leaving is connected to this storyline. Maybe they don't want to recast too fast and send Alexis to Europe. If Steven leaves the hospital he could have a break in London at uncle Ben Carrington's place and Alexis joins him?

The extras are real french actors obviously. Juliette is not. Obviously.

I googled the actress who plays Juliette, her name is Mathilde Warnier, she was born in France, has appeared in French films and on French television. Warnier has also worked as a model including a campaign for the fragrance Anais Anais.

"Obviously" Mathilde Warnier is a good actress because she plays the British born daughter of Ben Carrington who tries to pass as more French than the French which is convincing enough for Fallon and Sam but not so much for the real French - exactly what her part is.

I just finished watching. Easily the best episode of the entire show. What a shock. There's finally something that resembles an actual storyline!

Yep. I found her IMDB page. I was surprised... So she's obviously talented.:p. So I guess we won't see her again... ;)

She's pretty much convinced she did it. She had no knowledge at the time that Blake had hired Mack to 'scare Mark out of town', and still doesn't know about Cristal's family possibly (now probably) ordering the hit. When the episode picked up she was literally hiding in the bushes and apparently had been for hours (it was dark), and she would not have been doing that if she wasn't convinced she shot Mark by accident. But of course she was also half-drunk and not thinking clearly. Once she got her bearings she went straight into CYA mode and along came Mack. No one had accused her of anything (or asked for an alibi) so it's not like she shifted blame from herself to him--she just framed him with one convenient lie that Blake foolishly believed. I agree that she likely did not shoot Mark, and simple ballistics testing will likely reveal that the bullet did not come from the type of gun Alexis had. Of course she might not stick around to learn this.

And now Blake's hasty actions will leave the police without a suspect to pin this on, so the heat will not be off Alexis (or any of them) after all. The cops will still need to investigate, and they'll be nosing around asking uncomfortable questions. This might be the impetus for Alexis to take off for parts unknown.

sometime 2005 (i guess)
When we first saw Alexis at night at the fence at the beginning of the episode, she asked "Where are those damned bullets?" and she could not get the bullets she dropped to the ground, while loading the gun when she was drunk, as there were too many people with torches seeking the grounds next to her.
So... those bullets are still out there. And what happened with that "To my family"-letter she wrote and left at the fence, before she tried to kill herself?
Maybe she went there the next day during daylight and took care of all that... but we didn't see that. Things could still get very bad for Alexis, if Blake finds out about that...
I wonder if the show will adress that next week...

As for what I´am reading here, it seems that WC Alexis has become quite soon a pathetic loser, or an Anti-Alexis...!! :re: Is WC Dienasty the Dienasty from the Mirror Universe (Trekkism alert!)?

2017 I think (unless it is 2016)

Well, in ST: Discovery the Mirror Universe female character is the best thing to appear on that show. Here Alexis is absolutely the most ruined original creation.

My favorite soapy mirror incident was some decades ago on B&B: Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) had a stroke which resulted in a complete memory loss. For a while, she became best buddies with her arch-nemesis Brooke and was altogether a completely softer, compassionate version of the bitch she usually played.

I admit, I'd totally forgotten about her letter. If she left it out there, the Atlanta Police sure didn't do a very good search of the area. Then again, it might turn up ten minutes after she leaves town, having been blown by the wind over to the shore of the lake. People will think she killed herself and drag the lake for a body...only to find Mack instead.

The acting of James Mackay was top notch
I agree Matthew. After a long and exhausting trip home I just wanted to relax. With nothing to do outside since it was raining I thought what the heck, I'll watch the last few episodes of Dynasty. This episode hit it out of the park. It was dark and moody and exactly what new Dynasty should be...and shouldn't be afraid to be. James acting was top notch and his nervous delivery had me really thinking he was imagining George...until the end when you could have floored me. I did not see that twist coming so applause to the writers on that one.

Blake and Cristal's handling of the shady character was nicely done and tells me this is a power couple not to be messed with. I have my fingers crossed the producers don't recast the role of Alexis but kill the character in dramatic fashion. I can live with that.

This episode has me really excited to watch next week's installment. Let's pray the writers can keep it up.

I'd much prefer the scenario of Cristal re-visiting the scene where Mark was shot and a puff of wind blows the "To My Family" letter left by Alexis towards Cristal. Of course Cristal reads the letter and puts 2 and 2 together. Would the writers miss the opportunity of a cat fight between Cristal and Alexis?

Maybe Nicolette can return for the season finale... I mean, the first season finale had the two Mrs. Carrington duke it out. NuDynasty should make a tradition out of that. :D

If it means the death of Alexis then so be it. This reimagining of Alexis has been a major disappointment. I don't place the blame on Nicolette but the writers for creating the character that way. After this last episode I really would like to see new Dynasty go dark. It was great to see Anders finally getting his hands dirty by disposing of....
Mac

This was the Anders I saw glimpses of in Season 1. Knowing everyone's dirty little secrets and cleaning up after Blake.

For weeks it was a stupid and vapid teen show and now, all of sudden, it turns into a very dark adult drama ! All the characters suddenly become fascinating instead of the cartoon caricatures we used to see.
Makes me wonder if the writing team have been taking sneak peeks at soapchat criticisms. Highly unlikely of course but I do agree how this series suddenly turned...and for the better. At times I had to pause and ask, "Am I watching Dynasty?" How did we go from slapstick comedy to the house of horrors...but in a good way?

I, for one, don't want to give up on Alexis just yet. I say let her run away and hide for a while, and allow the writers to travel down this new dark path and develop things much more carefully/creatively. Then bring Alexis back, newly rejuvenated and re-written to fit the show's new tone (she did, after all, once try to swindle Blake out of his business by hiring a fake Adam... which included having Hank cut off his own finger; so she could still fit in).

Been meaning to bring this up: did anyone draw any parallels between
Blake and Cristal watching Anders dump Mack's body into the lake
and
Snarky's idea for old Dynasty of Krystle and Alexis dumping Dennis Grimes' body into the lake?

I think the writers really are watching us...

Probably because the first time in this reboot this episode was actually worth protecting for those who have yet to watch it.
It's not the kind of information that you should post in other threads, but one would expect to discuss the episode in the episode discussion thread.
Those who plan to watch it and don't want to read spoilers could simply avoid this one particular thread. After all, what are the odds that there won't be any spoilers in it?

Btw, I see you're still very busy "giving up on NuDynasty"
