Hello, I'm Sean. I'm a major TV addict, particularly being a fan of Doctor Who since the beginning of the 2005 revival. I enjoy watching a lot of sci-fi and superhero series, and I like a good game show too.

Welcome Sean - it's great to see you. :dance1:

Based on your interests you're definitely in the right place, so have fun exploring the threads.

Well, I have been here for a while now (about two years), but I might as well play, given that I have only posted occasionally and usually on the Knots subforum (my favorite of the 80s quartet and one I saw in full, although I also saw all of Dynasty and I really liked the first 5 and a half seasons of Falcon Crest, up until the point where Melissa went crazy in Season 6).

My name is actually Brendan, but I chose the name of TaranofPrydain for personal reasons and as a tribute. I'm from Ohio in the United States, and I turned 29 in February. In terms of television, I am an avid fan of retro TV series (especially the ones from the 80s), primetime soaps, and game shows.

With movies, I was for a long time a movie addict going through multiple films a day, and have seen close to 7,900 films. My area of cinematic knowledge is mostly Hollywood films from the 1920s through the 1990s. I have not gone out of my way to watch many films released in last 15 years.

I grew up spending a lot of time at a library, so I am familiar with the world of books too. I otherwise live a pretty quiet life, usually that of a homebody, although I still go to the library frequently and go to Church on a recent basis.

The best thing about this website is interacting with people who know so much about so many wonderful shows.

Found you guys through "The Hive Index" searching for a community for TV show discussions. Seems like a good place to hang and make friends since I've been watching a lot of telly lately.

A little about me: I'm a 34 going on 35 Singaporean Chinese who was a big fan of Spider-Man and have read all the comics up till Dan Slott's Spider-Verse era. My top four movies according to my un-updated Letterboxd profile are Casino Royale, The Prince of Egypt, The Fly (1986 remake) and The Dark Knight. Nowadays, I'm working part-time as a receptionist at a gym clubhouse I used to work full-time at. My favorite artists are Linkin Park pre-Chester passing era, Michael Jackson, '90s/'00s Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Junkie XL, John Williams and a number of Japanese anime artists like LiSA.

I used to be a movie buff growing up, but over the past few years, I've switched to TV viewing instead, catching up on the past few decades' worth of prestige and classic TV. I've finished Buffy a few years ago and recently finished The Wire just a few weeks ago.

I have a "set system" when it comes to my TV viewing, in that I have three sets of TV shows I would rotate after finishing a single season of each set's TV shows. Each set would also have a visual novel reading attached to the schedule because I enjoy visual novels. The three sets (and the latest season I've finished) are as followed:

Set 1, the current set I'm watching (the animation block):
  • BoJack Horseman (season 3)
  • Futurama (season 8)
  • Beavis and Butthead (season 6)
  • Daria (season 5)
  • Archer (season 5)
  • King of the Hill (season 5)
  • X-Men: The Animated Series (season 2) (trying to catch-up for X-Men '97)
  • Attack on Titan (season 3)
  • Chaos;Child
Set 2 (the sci-fi/supernatural/mature TV block)
  • Chucky (season 1)
  • Star Trek: TOS (season 2)
  • The Twilight Zone (1959) (season 2) (rewatch)
  • South Park (season 7)
  • Love, Death & Robots (season 1)
  • Disney's Gargoyles (season 1)
  • Castlevania (season 1)
  • Superman: The Animated Series (season 1)
  • Rick & Morty (season 7)
  • The Venture Bros. (season 2)
  • Chainsaw Man (season 1)
Set 3, the current set (the prestige TV/campy/comedy block)
  • Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (season 6) Finished Series
  • Xena: Warrior Princess (season 5)
  • Hannibal (season 1)
  • Seinfeld (season 6)
  • Community (season 1)
  • The Sopranos (season 5)
  • The Wire (season 5) Finished Series
  • Mad Men (season 5)
  • Breaking Bad (season 5) Finished Series
This system all began when I wanted to catch up on three '90s TV shows that I missed out on because I was too young at the time: The Simpsons (set 1), The X-Files (set 2), and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (set 3). Dropped Simpsons after season 11 and replaced it with Futurama, dropped X-Files after season 10 and replaced it with Supernatural (which I recently dropped after season 7), finished Buffy and Angel a few years ago and replaced them with Hercules and Xena.

The rest, as they say, is history.

I feel like this was a good system to help me catch up on renown TV shows that I haven't watched, and I'm planning to continue using it and expand upon it. Someday, once I run out, I'll probably return to my first love: movies.

Feel free to hit me up if you have any other question.

It's great to see you back, @Mister Seagull. I remember you (and I think even your avatar) from the old site.

Sadly, the original site crashed back in 2016 and, while it was quicky rebuilt by both staff and our wonderful community, all the posts going back to the late Nineties were lost and unable to be recovered.

As you can see, though, we're still doing our thing, and you'll recognise many names from "old times".

Welcome back. :hy:

I'll have to find my way around, it seems like a pretty big forum.

You're right. There are a lot of different areas for different interests.

You'lll soon find your way round. If you're ever lost and looking for some inspiration, the "What's New" tab at the top will take you to the most recent discussions. Have fun. :hat:

I'm Sapphire from the north of England.
I love Brit comedy shows, my favourite is Only Fools And Horses. Keeping Up Appearances is probably my second favourite. Anyway, looking forward to reading your posts and learning more about TV shows :hey:

Hello @Sapphire and welcome to the Forum

OFAH is 3rd on my fav list behind Fawlty Towers at 1 and wonderful Ronnie Barker in Porridge at 2

They dont make comedies like them any more, sad to say I dont find anything remotely "modern" very funny!

Hi there! Thank you for your welcome.

I love Ronnie Barker in Porridge, I recently bought the film version too from a charity shop, it's where Fletcher and his cellmate accidentally escape :llooll:
