This could have been a great storyline, spread out over several episodes. Instead, it was cartoon characters and dumb stereotypes that were boring to watch
Or perhaps instead of marrying Cally later, have J.R. return to Haleyville and get revenge on almost everyone in the town. The old J.R. would’ve made them pay, even if he wasn’t allowed back there. He would’ve found a way.

Why do the fans always know what's happening to a show when the producers don't??

Eventually, Bel Geddes got herself fired by asking for another raise she knew they'd say "no" to.
I think they know that the quality is dipping, but they are on good pay cheques still, so most of them just don't rock the boat. I'm convinced Larry, Leonard, Patrick etc. in the late seasons knew that it had all gone downhill creatively, that the magic of old had gone, but it was still a turn up for work and get a pay cheque thing. It's hard to criticize them for that too much, but Larry was an executive producer by this point as well. One wonders what they did to the budget as the years went on.

The show begab hating JR. Mocking him. I loved mean JR, he wasnt mean to be mean, he was in defense of what he loved. That was either Ewing Oil, John Ross or his family. When that became a joke, JR lost his charm, appeal.

I thought the Range War story in Season 12 was the last time the show looked like the Dallas that I remember

Jock: While I understand what you mean, I *do* think that's a bit harsh.
Its certainly true, the quality of seasons 12 and 13 were not up to Dallas's high standards, but I have always felt it was writing and plot lines that didnt serve as well as they could have. For Season 12, an interesting plot line could have been Miss Ellie gathering all her sons and telling them that after she was gone, there was to be no infighting between them...sort of the opposite of Jock. Ray could also have been used much better. It would have been great if some of the classic characters from the first 5 years returned in some fashion. JR trying to crush Cliff Barnes was simply done too many times.
Miss Ellie telling the boys no in-fighting after she dies? How could she possibly control that? That would be wishful thinking & a waste of breath. Siblings will always have spats, especially these boys

I enjoyed s11 and 12 more than 10. Nick was great and the Laurel Ellis plotline was interesting. Kimberly Cryder and her dad were interesting as well. It was a weird season but fun

Donna and Ray breaking up, Ray and Bobby fighting over Lucas, Jenna being cold and mean were all gut punches. The BD Calhoun and the lawsuit against Ewing Oil I liked. The whole lingerie company was annoying.

I like the Weststar plot in Season 11.

I hate Lisa Alden, hate Laurel Ellis (Clayton doesn’t need to have something to do, who cares), hate Nick, hate Dandy.

I still like April at this point.

Mostly I’m rooting for JR here.

The Weststar plot in season 11 kind of bored me. I got really tired of the phrase “ Weststar Stock” awfully fast. I actually liked both Lisa and Laurel but not their storylines. The Nick character wasn’t likable for me at first but I liked him better as time went on.

they should have had JR win in the end, taking full control of Weststar at the end of that season.

There was plenty of time for trouble and drama in the subsequent season, so why not have the ‘villain’, who by this point was pretty much the hero, as the representative of the classic show, take it all?

The unexpected twist could have been JR winning in the end after all, laughing and grinning at everyone…

Would have been very ‘2024’, anyway
