Countdown axed from Channel 4 altogether - Just as well, for the best.
Countdown would make it into the top ten of all time best words/numbers shows to appear on British television, in all the years British television has been going. It was great in its day, however, it is now past its sell-by-date, it has been going for over 40+ years, and the only real reason people watch Countdown nowadays is to watch the beautiful Rachel Riley. The show did get worse when Carol Vorderman left in 2008 and Richard Whiteley passed away in 2005, and so the only good thing was Anne Robinson presenting the show for a short time.
Channel 4 went gone down the pan when it lost Brookside first and foremost, otherwise Countdown along with Brookside have BOTH been Channel 4's flagship shows and ideally Countdown should have been cancelled when Richard Whiteley passed away in 2005, as well as Hollyoaks and the gameshow Fifteen To One which was cancelled initially before it returned/cancelled again - the fact Channel 4 lost the reality TV show Big Brother to Channel 5, it would make sense for Channel 4 to rebrand itself with a new logo and call itself four or FOUR instead of Channel 4, and getting quizshows from Channel 5 and shows like The Hotel Inspector, Night Fever and The Jack Docherty Show.
