For me, Billy Miller fit perfectly into daytime. Was it his real character that shone through in his roles, I don't know. In the primetime shows in which I saw him guest starring, he was never able to shine like that. When I saw him on NCIS last season, I thought how nice it would be if he came back to Y&R.

Based on what is known or supposed to be known so far, one can roughly imagine what happened, but at the time people also thought that they would know directly about Kristoff St. John's cause of death and ultimately the cause of death was different.

Soap Opera Digest has put together some obituaries for Billy Miller from former colleagues, some of them are very touching and emotional.

Cause of death is still uncertain. Some sources say stroke while some say he was struggling with bipolar disorder and suggests he ended his own life.

Either way, it's just sad. :( :( :(

I think that Billy Miller's manager Marnie Sparers didn't exactly do a great job with her statement about Billy's manic depression. It leaves much more room for speculation than if she had said nothing at all about the circumstances.

The only fact that is known about Billy Miller's life in 2023 is that his father passed away on January 19th 2023 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. When Billy Miller sold his home in LA about two years ago, there was speculation that he would move near his parents. I remember when he was on the soaps, he supported events in Texas for his niece's sports team. His niece was born without her left hand due to a congenital abnormality. As a widow, his mother certainly needs a lot of support in the last few months. If Billy Miller really suffered from PSP and he saw in his father what a degenerative disease can do to a person, I can imagine that he didn't want to go through that and also didn't want to put his family through that, but the mention of manic depression gives the impression that it is something that he has been battling with for a long time.

His mother speaks out:

Billy Miller’s mother, Patricia Miller, issued a statement on the tragic passing of her son at the age of 43. “I would like to share the following thoughts,” Patricia wrote. “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ — Billy Miller. He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”
