I had a really bad car wreck back on July 2. My wife and I are expecting a baby girl (she is due October 6) and I we had a doctor's appointment that day. After dropping my wife back off at her car, I left the parking lot to head back to my job. That's when it happened---bam!!!! I was t-boned hard on the left side. A man hit me going 57 mph in a 35 mph zone.

My wife heard the collision, and when she looked up from her car, she saw the man that hit me still pushing my car down the road. It was a horrific sight for her, but thankfully her mother, grandmother, and sisters where nearby to meet her at the scene of the crash.

I was immediately air-lifted to a trauma unit at a hospital around an hour away from me. I was in critical condition and everyone feared for my life. Others around me at the hospital that had been in less severe car crashes did not make it.

But God!

I wouldn't have made it through this without Jesus being in my corner. I'm here to tell you -- there are benefits to serving the Lord. He is there when you feel like no one is there. He is truly a friend that will stick closer than a brother. I have a wonderful, praying wife, who has stuck by through all of this craziness. At around seven months pregnant, she spent day and night with me in the hospital. She slept in raggedy hospital chairs because she didn't want to leave me alone. She is truly a blessing. I have a wonderful family, some great in-laws, and a praying church family that has been there with me and for me these past several weeks.

I was released from the hospital on August 1, after spending practically a whole month there. I suffered multiple injuries to the left side of my body, particularly to my arm and pelvis. I had to have surgery on left elbow, and I have yet been released to put weight on my left leg because the doctors are wanting to make sure my pelvis is all healed up. I am currently doing extensive therapy to regain as much mobility as possible in my left elbow. It is often quite painful, but it is gradually getting better. I have a follow-up appointment with my surgeon on September 13, and I am praying hard that she is going to say I am cleared to begin putting weight on my left leg. I am currently confined to a wheelchair, but I can get around quite well.

By the grace of God, I am coming through. All things will be restored.

My job as been great throughout all of this, thankfully. I work at a bank, and I have been cleared to be out of work until at least October 30. That will hopefully give me significant time to physically recover and also give me time to spend with my wife and baby girl after her birth. Through my company's FMLA program, I am still getting 60% of my weekly pay.

God is good everybody.

For the time being, though, I am piled up in my house. My wife has quit her job (she was going to when the baby was born anyway) to be at home with me. I have enjoyed the down-time with my wife and we are eagerly awaiting the birth of our little girl. We're not far away now.

My goal is to get to watching some shows and movies I've had on my watch list. Between doctor and therapy visits, at-home exercise, and daily household chores, I should have the time somewhere in the mix.

Just figured I'd share a little bit of my life as of late.

Be careful on the roads everybody, and remember, God is good.

Doctors, nurses, therapists, and practically everybody have been baffled at how fast I have recovered, considering the severity of my injuries. I tell them all, "Had God not been there, I would not be here!"
So sorry to hear that, I wish you the best, fastest recovery. I went through a serious car accident when I was 5, and I still remember that instant.

Thanks for sharing ClassyCo. That car wreck looks really bad. I am sorry to hear that you've been through this, but it seems like you are coming back stronger from it all. I hope you will be able to get out of the wheelchair and walk again.

Reading your story the first thing that occurred to me was how lucky it was that your wife had gotten out of the car before the crash happened so that no harm came to her or your unborn daughter. Congratulations to you on the baby. I can tell you are a proud father to be. :spinning:

The second thing that occurred to me is how fast time flies and how we are never promised tomorrow. When we are young we take being healthy for granted and it is scary how it can all be wiped out in an instant. I think as we grow older we learn to be grateful for being healthy and to count or blessings.

Out of curiousity how old are you now?
I remember you as being like super young, like early 20s. But I think as the years gone by you are probably closer to 30 by now.

Anyway glad that you're still with us and all the best to you in your recovery. :hb:

Yes, I was so thankful my wife had already gotten out of the car. But I was also thankful she was close by to rally around me and call her family in for support.

Oh, I am so excited to be a dad. I am anxiously awaiting to birth of my baby girl. She is going to change my world, and I'm ready for it.

You are so right. We are never promised tomorrow. That's why it's important to have things in order and have a true walk with God before time runs out.

I'll 27 come October 14 of this year. My wife turned 28 in June of this year.

That's wonderful. My very best wishes to you and your family. :)

That makes sense that you are both on the other side of 25 now. I think you've got the best years of your life ahead of you.
I remember when I turned 30 I thought it was so old, now looking back I wish I could go back and be 30 again.
