Happy for Thorsten. I know he still takes a lot of flack as having replaced an original fan favorite so it’s good to see him get his due after having been in the role quite a long time himself now.

GH deserves the win as well. Best overall show out of what’s left. Wasn’t crazy about the final acceptance speech being read off of a phone but hey, I guess that’s where we are nowadays.

Oh, yeah I had forgotten the speech-by-phone. This is the second year in a row that Frank Valentini has come off as overly-nervous, more than a little disheveled, borderline intoxicated and/or having a bad day despite having just won a bunch of awards. If he is scared of public speaking, he ought to have someone else accept on behalf of the show like the Head Writer of the Month or their Lead Director Robert Markham (who did an excellent job accepting the Directing Emmy). Heck, they should have gotten Maura West to do it just so we could get a better look at that great dress she was wearing.

I am glad B&B didn't win much. The way Bell wrote the ridiculous Eric dying story was 100% to score many Emmys. He knew from the start that he wouldn't kill off Eric, that a ridiculous miracle save was coming just in time for Christmas. The writing was manipulative, to score Emmys.
Yikes. I'm thankful I stopped watching that dribble eons ago. B&B's writing has been off for years. The way Bell treats legacy characters is appalling and the example you use with...
Kristen, Felicia and Rick was off on a safari in Africa together, and could not be reached for weeks.
...is an instance where you if you treat the audience like idiots don't be surprised if they move onto something else. Has Bell never heard of Starlink?

I had the opportunity to watch the Daytime Emmys and it's not usually my favorite award show, but I liked it very much this year. I even enjoyed Zooey Deschanel (what was she doing there anyway?) and I really liked most of the acceptance speeches (I only watched the soap categories). I also liked the In Memoriam section. There was nothing to complain about this year.

Since I didn't know who would be presenting awards, I was super excited when Annie Jones and Stefan Dennis from Neighbours suddenly appeared on the stage of a US award show. It was kind of surreal to me.

Admittedly, it was the first one I’ve watched in years and I thought they did a great job with it this year overall. The show seemed energetic and fun and the last couple of times I did catch it I kind of felt that was missing for the most part. I’m not the biggest fan of “Phyllis” but I did enjoy Michelle’s acceptance speech very much.

She apparently has a cooking show on some streaming platform and the show got an Emmy nomination. The vast majority of the cooking shows (lumped under "instructional" or "service" shows) had their awards given out in the other ceremonies held the following night, so it would have been more appropriate for her and her husband to be at that ceremony. But whatever. Even after decades of criticism, producers of the Daytime Emmys seem to think they need to include non-daytime celebrities in the awards just to "draw in viewers".

Conventional wisdom among the critics was that Lead Actress was a race between Finola Hughes and Cynthis Watros. My guess is that all the bloc voting managed to split the GH vote and Michelle Stafford emerged victorious because she was a strong third place. I will assume MS's shout-out to Finola Hughes in her acceptance speech was a nod to their having been co-leads in the short-lived Pacific Palisades.
